The Trickster rework isn't good

With the tome challenges having Trickster-specific ones, I've been playing him a bit, and it's really reminded me how much of a state this killer is in. He feels awful to play.

It feels like his chase power got gutted just for the sake of making him 4.6m/s. Not only was his TTK increased with requiring 8 knives to down, but his throw rate ramp up was also removed, making it even longer.

The aim of the rework was to make him feel more agile and fast paced, but it does the opposite. Getting downs outside of Main Event is a slog, and committing to Main Event can screw you over since you are locked into being slower than Survivors. Once they break LOS, they're often safe from it for the rest of the duration.

I like that Main Event has been made more common, but it feels mandatory for downing a Survivor at any reasonable pace, which sucks. Even with Memento Blades, he feels slow.

The fact that he's 4.6m/s doesn't really matter in a lot of cases, since the movement speed in his power is not affected by this. The entire rework feels like it was aimed at gutting his kit just for the sake of giving him a normal move speed, which doesn't do anything. It discourages you from using his power because it's less effective in general.

I want his power to feel effective again. I don't care if he needs to be made 4.4m/s again, but using his power feels terrible.

Either increase the Knives to 4 per second again and give a 60 ammo count (I'd prefer this one honestly, knives go brrrrrrrr), or reduce the laceration requirement to 6 again. Do one of these and make him 4.4m/s.

I'd love to see the throw speed ramp-up return as well. Maybe without as much of a movement speed penalty, though.

No offense but Trickster borderline is an S tier killer since the last rework. Every above average/comp player acquainted with the killer has been thinking so. He needs to be toned down, not be made "efficient again" when he literally has never been this efficient throughout his entire history.

Most hardcore Trickster mains I've spoken to personally and seen posting about it generally hate the rework. Some to the point where it's made them drop the killer entirely.

No offense but I'm not sure which comp players you're talking to that hold this opinion.

As a very casual Trickster player, I don't feel he was gutted. He feels much better than before, but still very boring.

"Borderline S tier" is laughable to read, but he also is not weak by any means. I feel like he in a good place except some pointless addons.

I hate how slow he throws his knives now. It feels clunky and slow. Pew…………….pew…………………..pew…

lol s-tier. i couldn't stop laughing a for a little bit. trickster to me feels more like grinder type character. what i mean by that is that he gains rewards by incremental amounts over-time. Slow-controlled fire can widdle any survivor health-state thanks to 15 second laceration.

committing to Main Event can screw you over since you are locked into being slower than Survivors. Once they break LOS, they're often safe from it for the rest of the duration.

His main event has to be used in smart concise times. this rewards the player for using at the correct time to shorten chases and punishes poor use of his ability.

    throw speed ramp-up

His throw ramp up is base-kit. His original throw rate was 3.3. The base-kit version is 3.0. This about 3 initial/8 stacks of throw-rate increase from before. These add-on's used to be called Fizz Soda and Ji-Autograph. The Memento blade add-on changes his base-kit from 3.0→2.7. Granting an additional 2-3 stacks of throw-rate increase. In total, he gets roughly 6 stacks of throw-rate increase.

It is not exactly the full 8 stacks of original throwing rate but it is close enough.

His main nerf is 8 health-state change. He had this originally at base-kit of his PTB. It could definitely use a little buff but the last time they tried buff him, there was massive outcry.

You definitely have to overperform in the accuracy department to make the kit somewhat work. And true, the 115 change really doesn't make any sort of real difference.

Drop it to 7 knives for an injury instead of 8 and see how that goes for awhile.

I liked his older version more, but I didn‘t really play any of his versions. All I know is he went extinct after the rework.

The only people happy with the Trickster changes are console players due to removal of recoil. PC Trickster mains aren't happy with the changes.

I mean I'm happy that they removed Recoil, it was one of the few good things about the rework and was long overdue.

It's just kind of spoiled by the rest of it, though.
