Slugging isnt a problem and doesnt need a "fix"
Why do people complain about this so much? What does it matter if the killer is slugging for the 4k, you practically already lost so just tab out and do something else. Thats what I do when it happens to me or when survivors wait at gates. I dont slug for the 4k unless I'm trying to adept, but I swear some people act like slugging for the 4k is the most horrible thing in a survivor can experience. like they cant just… do something else. Nobody is forcing you to sit and stare in boredom at your screen, not like a comeback was on the way anyway.

What does it matter if the killer is slugging for the 4k, you practically already lost so just tab out and do something else.
And the Killer already won. The Killer is basically just slugging for a 4K while already winning the game, just for the Ego, wasting the time of others.
38 -
Yeah so just tab out and watch some youtube or something. Actually trying to comeback in the kind of situation will probably take longer and get you nowhere. Besides what right does the survivor team have to complain about the killer denying hatch? Both sides do whatever and anything they can do get the 4-out or 4k if the opportunity arises.
3 -
i did not even mention a comeback or anything. You, yourself already said that the Survivors lost aka the Killer won. So why prolong an already won game just for some Egoboost?
21 -
To be fair some killers might not consider a 3k a win (which is stupid), and there are plenty of reasons for wanting the 4k beyond ego. BP, challenges, adepts, etc.
6 -
If you can put your controller down for almost five minutes during a match, and it has no impact on the outcome, that's bad gameplay design. It's a ******* computer game. It's designed to be played.
35 -
some of us don't play on PC. I have a 2nd monitor but that's not a resolution still. Why should someone load up this game with the intent to focus/play it and have to zone out as a workaround for a killer being a douchebag?
8 -
A 3K is a win, confirmed by the Devs. And while I would agree that Challenges and Adepts are a thing, I highly doubt that every Killer who slugs for the 4K is on some Challenge or wants an Adept.
I dont really see BP as a valid reason, since the time wasted by slugging for the 4K will probably earn less BP than just going into the next game.
And its is not like not slugging for the 4K means that the last Survivor will escape. The last Survivor will only be able to find Hatch when they are lucky (assuming no Hatch Offering is in play), because Killers have all the advantages to find Hatch first (moving faster and no need to hide).
13 -
Most of dbd for survivors is just holding a button and waiting for something interesting to happen anyways, remove skillchecks and theres almost no difference between gens and being slugged imo (gameplay wise). It is bad game design but pretty much all of dbd is designed that way so I dont get why this specifically is what people center on.

What are the two things survivors complain about the most? Camping and slugging. That's because those two things stop the survivor from doing anything. Not being able to play is infinitely worse than encountering something that is just busted or OP.
Let's be real, if survivors could disable the killer's ability to move and attack for even thirty seconds, there would be uproar. Rightly so, as it would make playing killer boring and annoying.
Camping and slugging are part of the game. But you can't be surprised when survivors who experience it get annoyed. Especially when it's things like getting slugged for the full four minutes.
17 -
Give the slugged survivor something they can do:
Hold the 'sprint' button to crawl 2x faster, at the cost of bleeding out 2x faster.
This gives the survivor sone sense of agency, while making it riskier for the killer to lose track of them if they want the hook score, while also giving the option to 'die faster' if that's the survivors goal.
Doesn't step on Tenacity's toes, as it can just negate the 2x bleedout cost while still allowing simultaneous recovery.
10 -
First of all, there's more to survivor gameplay than just "holding down a button" for gen speed boost.
People coordinate saves, mind-game at loops, unhook survivors, and heal survivors whether under the hook or from basic traversal of the map and finding them.
There's a lot more involved than just holding down a button uninterrupted on a gen, especially in solo-queue where it's less coordinated than a SWF team.
I don't particularly disagree with slugging or tunneling, even if it involves me being the victim of it.
However, pushing the idea that people have to tab out of a game or simply put the controller down so you can have an easier 4k during a video game that people play is counterintuitive.
Do you want the last survivor to be aura read when you slug? I don't really understand your reasoning of tabbing out and just forfeiting a game as it goes into a new phase of the game called, "endgame collapse," as I'm sure you're aware of.8 -

A) this is a video game
B) ah yes, let me just tab out of console. Great advice
16 -
just for the ego except:
2.5k in deviousness
500 bps for hooking, 200-600 bps for hook stages in sacrifice
potential adept/challenges and pips
and most importantly their deserved kill in a match they won. you are in no place to judge that.
7 -
And as I have said, you will probably get more BPs if you dont waste everyones time by trying to win harder in a game you already won. And as I also said, even if the Killer decides not to slug, they have the advantage in finding the Hatch.
And well…
you are in no place to judge that.
if someone writes things in a public forum they should expect that others a) react and b) might disagree. If you dont want that, dont use Forums.
9 -
I could say that about the survivors too, when they hide for hatch instead of do gens. So now what?
2 -
I dont think there should ever be a moment in the match where you need to "just alt tab and wait". It doesnt sound like a good design.
15 -
saying alt tab out of the game is not an acceptable statement and goes against any argument claiming this is acceptable.
10 -
It's a realistic idea to just leave the game and do something else, but that's called AFK.
Telling players to go AFK is an unhealthy design.3 -
This happens less than slugging for a 4K. But even with two survivors hiding the killer still gets to do things. A slugging survivor can’t do #########.
7 -
"killers slugging for 4k are just egoists" isn't a disagreement. isn't only a disagreement, that is.
why should killer settle with the chance of hatch when they can guarantee the 4k? you are right on the time management/bloodpoints part, i think the only deciding factor in whether doing or not doing it should be how much the killer player values their time. apparently lots of people do it so the forums are full of crying survivors and i'm glad to see these hypocritical "comments" such as yours don't discourage many people from doing it.
2 -
You say slugging for the 4k is not a problem because the solution is to just go watch YouTube instead of, you know, playing the game you bought and loaded up to play. Your argument just emphasises how it's a problem.
7 -
Now you tab out and go watch YouTube, as OP said
6 -
the root of the problem isn't the killers doing it so obviously the solution can't be blaming players (killers or survivors). yes it sucks, but they need to eliminate the reasons, and we all know the only reason for it.
1 -
The last survivor hiding is literally the same thing. It's just ego, you already lost, even if you get hatch it's a tie for your MMR. Stop hiding and wasting everyone's time, give the killer the 4k they clearly won.
5 -
There is still a problem of "unnecessary bleedout" of 4 minutes, beside that, slugging has literally ZERO issue, and the amount of people who thinks they are entitled for the hatch in one sided match is insane
2 -
That's honestly equivalent of complaining about death and respawn in PvP games, as that generally stops people from doing anything
1 -
oooh, I like this idea! I’d be okay if it made them crawl 3x faster and leaving the bleed out at 2x faster.
It’s such a good idea, I hope the Devs see this!
0 -
There is absolutely no reason to give survivors another free disconnect or free hatches, both of basekit unbreakable or faster bleedout is pretty much a buff for them especially when they can choose to use it or not
0 -
I’m 100% against any form of a basekit Unbreakable but a faster bleed out is fine if there were parameters set for it. They can make it kick in when only two Survivors are left or when all 4 Survivors are slugged with no way to stand back up.
2 -
When a survivor is hiding for hatch you are still able to play the game. This isn't the same?
4 -
Devs have already stated indefinite hiding without progressing the game as "holding the game hostage", in other words "killers are not be able to play the game nor progress the game"
So you are objectively wrong
3 -
You are (smugly) trying to equate a situation where survivors are unable to do anything at with a situation where the killer can just push survivors out.
If this is such a big concern, there are perks available to counter it and if you’re not willing to use a perk slot for that, then maybe the issue isn’t as big as it’s being made out to be.Unbreakable- 1 use
Soul Guard - extremely conditional
No Mither - lol
7 -
In what universe is dying faster a buff for survivors?
Isn't that what you want?
Is this like when they nerfed healing and the killer mains claimed it was actually a buff to gens?
12 -
It's just ego, you already lost, even if you get hatch it's a tie
So you haven't lost, then.
4 -
I love it when threads like this inadvertently prove the point they’re trying to argue against. It’s such a beautiful irony.
2 -
the difference is that while survivors are dragging out the game, something still happens, even if it ultimately doesnt change the outcome - killer chases survivors or hits them in gates, forcing the leave.
when survivor is being bled out, nothing interactive happens, they are just lying on the ground while killer waits for them to die.
7 -
Normal slugging isn‘t a problem since slugging can extremely backfire, but slugging for the 4K when only 2 survivors are alive is a problem. It only wastes the time of everyone. Maybe they should allow the last two survivors to open the hatch with a key.
I think there should be a anti slugging ability for survivors; when they are slugged they can press a button, that makes them bleed out faster and gives them faster crawling speed.
4 -
The entire point of their argument is that a killer always has the option to "prematurely" end survivors teabagging at the exit gate whereas survivors literally can't stop bleedouts unless they have some very specific perks, so they are "forced" to be unable to do anything for up to 4 minutes
4 -
then it's a self inflicted problem.
i dont have ego issues and i either chase ppl out or dont complain about the game being dragged out.
3 -
again you keep missing the point.
learn to lose. take the l. accept you lost the game and wont get kills.
choke your ego and push them out. cut the losses and get points for starting chases and hits, you most definitely dont have any categories maxed out if you have survivors teabagging in exit gates.
if you dont, it's entirely "YOU" issue for not taking the opportunity the game gives you to force end it. Slugged survivors dont have an opportunity like that in the gameplay because they're slugged and forced to bleedout with no feasible way out.
yeah, it's annoying, but that's it. There's nothing fundamentally broken in that situation because you still have full agency to keep playing and getting something. If you willingly refuse to, that's YOUR problem that YOU need to fix with YOURSELF, not use it as whataboutism argument to steer the discussion away from the ACTUAL issue of people being forced to go afk because they have zero agency in the match, yet are still forced to wait for ¬30% of the average game's duration.
6 -
Imagine if survivors could have 4 gens done and for the last gen they could paralyze the Killer for the rest of the match. I mean, you've already lost, so might as well just tab out and do something else, right?
Slugging as a strategy is terrible game design, not because it tips the scale in your favor, but because to do so it supresses and removes players from the match without letting them move on to the next match. They're forced to stand there and watch as things inevitably go south, which can take either a few seconds or several minutes.
It's the main reason I think you should be able to pick yourself up when you're on the floor and the killer decided to go on an adventure all around the map, as getting slugged with 4 players isn't that bad, but getting slugged once there's at least one less player immediately makes things difficult to recover from, and your only gameplay option while getting slugged is "tab out and wait until the killer inevitably slugs everyone to death".
Not exactly thrilling or healthy gameplay.
7 -
4 gens done doesn't mean the killer lost. Many times I have killed all 4 survivors with 1 gen left. It's 4min... Not that long
1 -
Stepping in with a reminder to keep the discussion in here civil and respectful, please. Everyone here is welcome to constructively debate, discuss, and agree to disagree, without biting at one another. Thank you.
1 -
Neither does having 2 or 3 survivors remaining on the match mean the survivors have already lost, so the OP saying "What does it matter if the killer is slugging for the 4k, you practically already lost so just tab out and do something else" is a weak way of justifying slugging.
That's why I put the 4 gen example. 4 gens is "practically" the killer losing, so by that standard, if the survivors could stun the killer for the remainder of the game and the only option for the killer was "just tabbing out and doing something else" it would be completely justified.
We should probably introduce something like this and see how engaging of a mechanic that would be.
4 -
again, if you dont like it - go push them out.
if you get bled to death there's nothing you can do except waiting 4 minutes till killer is done feeding their ego.
idk why is that so hard to understand. that's the core issue and that's why bleeding people to death is problematic.
7 -
Again I have to disagree, in many cases getting it down to the last gen is where the killer is at his strongest. Losing 2 survivors and having 2 remaining is definitely not at their strongest, especially if they avoid the gens. That is acknowledgement they lost the match and try to hide for like 30min. Not quite comparable but if it is then have to compare 4min bleed out time v 30min hiding even tho they lost
1 -
First off, 80% of survivors just stand around and waste time at the exit gate when they've already won. So, I don't see how slugging is a real issue here, other than the fact that it seems like it's only a problem because 'it's not fun when survivors aren't in control.
Completely invented statistic aside, I don't ever teabag at the gate, and I'm usually only waiting around to make sure the team is also making it out ok. Being a good teammate isn't toxic. The killer also has the base kit ability to hit survivors out of the exit gate. No such things exists for slugging, since the survivor has no agency.
Team A has been dragging time from Team B for ages, and now that Team B is doing the same, suddenly Team A isn’t having fun anymore? It’s a bit ironic, honestly.
The US vs them is off the charts here. The answer is to be the bigger person and at least try to stop the cycle of toxicity. As I said before, I don't teabag at the exit gates, but I've certainly been slugged for no reason while the slinger shoots the air, huntress his my body with hatchets, or listened to an incessant bell for about 4 minutes.
Its kind of tireing that a lot of survivor mains think its ok, and even trying to downplay or even push the responsibility for the exit gate camping to the killer, and over-dramatizatize the bleedouts.
I'm just going to address the "overdramatize" part here, cause I feel like that other poster is off topic. But slugging is absolutely a problem. People, including you I'll add, lose their minds when survivors hold the exit gates open. And the killer has full agency: you can go afk if you want, you can earn BP by spamming your power, breaking walls and pallets, all while ignoring the toxicity. You can go hit them out the door or maybe force a late game mistake that gets you extra kills.
Slugged survivors have zero agency beyond crawling around. No BP, no chance of escape, can't even play the game. And it's twice as long when the killer does this, since EGC is only 2 minutes.
7 -
From a survivor standpoint....slugging basically makes people not want to play survivor along with a lot of other things that is basically making solo miserable. Again, this game needs a competitive game play and a casual game play. 2v8 proved that. That was the most fun I've had as survivor since most of my friends gave up on this game for a lot of the listed items here. Even I now play more killer then survivor because it's more fun and easier. Don't have to worry about being paired up with a bunch of potatoes
1 -
Crawling is an option.
e.g. Finding hatch.
