Sound issues?
I've found that the volume of survivor footsteps is so low now that it's extremely difficult now to track where they are when they're behind walls and I have to get much closer to generators to hear if they're being worked on.
I first thought it was just my headphones, which badly need to be replaced, were broken but Scott Jund just released a video saying the same thing. Is this common? Are a lot of other people experiencing the same thing?

Footstep noises, flashbang noises, and scratch marks, are all having problems now.

Okay so it's not just my headphones then. It sucks because I track primarily by sound but I'll have to live with it until it gets fixed. Thanks

playing spirit is very frustrating and honestly a chore right now

It definitely would be. Unless you're using Dried Cherry Blossom I can't see Spirit being that much but miserable frustration if you can't hear survivor footsteps. I might start equipping Stridor and see if that helps with tracking.

The worst part is none of these issues are being officially acknowledged by BHVR, so we might be stuck with them for a very long time.

I really, really hope we don't have to wait for a long time as using sound is one of the skill expressions of Killer especially when mind games are being played. Not being able to use sound significantly diminishes the fun of playing Killer imo.

Every sound bug I have seen through the reports on our forums has been passed along to the team for review.

you cant even hear the hatch if its behind a shrub sometimes. It is straight up busted and almost unplayable right now. You can't hear anything especially with chase music.

Sorry, it’s just very frustrating, that major killer sound bugs, and major killer scratch mark bugs, are such a low priority, that they get stuck at “under review”
I don’t think anyone is expecting immediately fixes, or immediate “fix incoming” statuses. We just want to know these major game bugs are important enough that the team spent the 5 minutes it takes to easily recreate and acknowledge that the bugs exist.

Oh, we absolutely empathize with the frustration! I also want to make sure we don't miss anything. We appreciate all of the reports. Unfortunately, the 5 minutes to reproduce isn't always just 5 minutes, especially the volume of bugs submitted without game logs attached.
We have more bug fixes coming very soon BUT we also know that it isn't fun to hear without an ETA or timeframe of when. I know it is common to say "we appreciate your patience", but seriously, we do.

I also made some posts about other aspects of sound issues and hopefully these will be addressed soon

this is specially noticeable on indoor maps. Sometimes hatch or an injured survivor is right in front of me but there will be no sounds if there are any walls in between.

I just wanted to share i have been experiencing same issues

I think I just don’t understand what “under review” actually means. I’ve had the above bug report “under review” since December 2023, and I’ve never been asked for more info. Has this issue really been in the review queue for 9 months?
It describes a bug that can steal hits from the killer, which sounds like a serious issue that should be a priority, or at least important enough that 9 months is long enough to get feedback on it?

I play spirit quite often. In some matches, her chase music would completely swallow footsteps and injured noises. Just my two sense. With the iron will buff, it's EXTREMELY frustrating to play her, or just playing killer cause sound is primarily how some people track survivors. Does anyone run an EQ? I'm curious to hear someone's results?

Jocelyn, while we have you, I have a suspicion on where the bug may be coming from - the Lights Out 2.0 code. It's known you guys put modifier code active into patches before flipping the switch on those servers come mode time, and 2v8 also came with a bundle of glitches as I recall such as overly fast generators or gens not being counted right on the HUD. It's been known that Lights Out 2.0 will feature a sound-muffling Fog element. Could it be possible some of that code accidentally got into the code for the main game, or that the audio is pulling from that code incorrectly despite it being "off" and not in the game "technically" right now?
If this code is this problematic it may just be best to scrap the muffled sound from Lights Out entirely. Last time it didn't have that much, and it didn't really affect the game at all or make the mode any more offensive.

To deal with this bug I did in fact download an EQ program called fxSound. The difference in game audio while running it versus not running it is night and day. Something with the game audio's equalizing is messed up.

Confirmed issue on Eyrie, MacMillan's, Midwich, Lerys, and Hawkins as far as I know. I ran a round on Eyrie the other day and even with an equalizer I could barely hear any Survivor or gen noises until I was right on top of them. Then another round in Lerys I was playing Ghostface and it was like the Survivors couldn't hear my cloak noises or footsteps at all - that's not uncommon with Ghostie already but this glitch renders him basically invisible in Shroud unless he's right there.
Prior to this on MacMillan's, I was Survivor against a Myers. I straight up could not hear his breathing without an equalizer app, I thought my headphones were broken.
