New Lights Out might be even worse than the previous one, seriously. It's bad.
Very few good things, a lot of painful points for both sides:
- Hooks having such strong anti camp and anti tunnel mechanics is a guaranteed ticket for a hit and run and 4 man slug fest, because survivors really struggle seeing everything.
- Candelabras are worse than nothing, it's better to stay injured to have the chance to lose the killer.
- Complete lack of information of where your teammates are after a hook, creates a gigantic divide between solo Q and swf. I know it's a casual mode, but Kindred compensated so much for this deficit in normal mode.
- Chests are worthless, they should have Medkits instead to prevent total slugs and unwinnable situations.
- There's no reason to suppress grunts of pain so much, but not the insanely loud footsteps of some killers like Nemesis.
- Healving shoud be 20% faster, not gen repair speeds. Considering the killers have no gens slowdonw perks, it's brutal having survivors do gens this fast.

This is ultimately why just upping the current tools we have against slugging, tunnelling, and camping won't do anything in base game. That's a bad kneejerk outcry opinion I see far too often.
It's high time to accept it: some amount of camping, slugging, tunnelling, and genrushing is part of the game. Intentionally. THEY ARE IN FACT TACTICS. We all need to realize this and accept it so we can heal as a community.
I'm sick of legitimate tactics being labeled as toxic because oh no, someone doesn't get to play as much of a game where you can be eliminated as someone else. That's the point. It's not called Survive by Daylight.
The only change needed to make these tactics feel less bad, is to make every single Survivor capable of gaining BP at the same rate as Killer. Permanent 400% boost on Survivor side, just don't advertise it. period. Every match. Then it would still be worth it if you got removed too fast.

A few hours ago, I would call people dramatic for saying this mode is survivor sided.
Played few matches as killer, and…well...
The AFC buff didn't bother me, but the Endurance sure did. The gen speeds do their thing too.
I got 2 widely different outcomes in this mode:
- Get genrushed and before you know it, survivors are at the gates.
- Kill 2 survivors, and one just starts hiding, not touching gens.
I will try survivor as well, but yeah, it seems this mode can be put to rest.

I hate having an opposing opinion, but I kinda like Lights Out.
Granted I haven't experienced slugging or tunneling, in fact as killer I experienced survivors throwing themselves at me with their 60 second endurance, but as survivor the worst I had was a camping Chucky and the anticamp kicked in. Ended up escaping too.
I dunno, I just like the barebones nature of it.3 -
I wish we got a BP modifier for this mode, because honestly, I'm not going to touch it after I get my event rewards. And I'm a killer, I love playing spooky and ambushing people from the dark, but to only get like 25k BP in a match? Pfft.

Another good reason to go back as soon as the tome is done.

Teammates, as always, are the worst.
I mark the exit gates with candles because they are absolutely hellish to find if we make it to end game. It's the best way to help teammates.
And people pick them up. They pick them up mid-game, they pick them up before they run out the exit gate with teammates still in the match, they pick them up every chance they get. Someone picked one up two seconds after I put it down. Why? I have no idea. All they did was drop it under a hook a minute later when the killer downed them making a save. The ones most likely to do this are high prestiges, too, so they should understand game mechanics and at that point it feels like trolling.
I've nearly died more than once because I had to hug the wall and keep running until I found an exit gate, all the while the EGC ticking down. There had been candles in front of the doors, but not after the gate was opened, nope. You don't even get points for leaving with the candelabra.
The candles work best as map markers. Put them down near/on gens, put them down in front of exit gates, stop freaking picking up useful candles just to drop them in the middle-of-nowhere spots when the killer downs your highlighted butt.
It's also terrible trying to get healed. No one can see where you are. When my friend and I played together, we could pick up and put down a candelabra repeatedly to show our exact location, but that's not going to work in solo queue with randoms. And healing is so slow.
Just had the candle thing happen again. Not to me, the survivor made it more difficult for the last two survivors to get out after a hook save. And it was again a high prestige who picked up the candle to wave it around and walk out with it. I wish experienced survivors wouldn't actively sabotage teammates for no reason.
If I play another match in this mode, I might start wasting time putting down four in front of an exit gate just to make a point of it. People need a fast exit after an end-game hook save, not to spend their Endurance and then some hugging a wall hoping they'll find the exit in time. I don't reach the end game very much, but when I do this is ridiculously common to see.
