scary business tatics (skull merchant)
the way they handled the S.M. is very scary. tons of survivors "protested" by killing on hook and artificially raising the kill rate to the moon, and bhvr simply gives in, and essentially deletes a character from the game, in order to please these players. that clearly shows what side they give priority to.
then this business practice could continue with other killers, just to please more survivors, im guessing because survivors are the majority.
but guess what. without killers, you dont have a game. instead of "saving" the game, with these changes, youre on a road to kill it instead. by driving killers away.
we wont feel the absence of skull merchant players since, its a small player base, but if survivors complain about a more popular killer, maybe chucky, blight, etc, it will set off a domino effect and turn off killer players, and BOOM.
Dying game, youve worked so hard to build up. killing the skull merchant is not the way. prioritize the rework instead of nerfing her.

The victim complex in some of these posts is wild. You know what would be a really good business practice? Releasing a product in a live service that players have to interact with, and leaving it in the game untouched even though all the data suggests it's wildly unpopular and disliked. There is not some grand conspiracy among hundreds of thousands of players to have a killer nerfed.
What makes more sense:
A: Skull Merchant was wildly unpopular for several (obvious and well-documented) reasonsOr
B: Survivors across all platforms and regions conspired to disconnect against this character in a show of solidarity (you know, coordinated solo queue strats), and BHVR employees (the same ones who release constantly buggy patches) successfully conspired to favor the survivor role, the same survivor role which does not even escape 50% of the time in any MMR bracket.
Survivors can't even coordinate doing a gen, but we think there's a massive successful conspiracy to have a killer nerfed?18 -

apparently people not liking something they have to play against to the point they refuse to doesn't mean anything to you (or other people alike). kill rates being inflated by suicides doesn't make the killer any healthier.

Yeah, you are both right, I guess. But it still stands that this is not a good way of how this whole fiasco was resolved. If something proves to be too hard or unpopular, survivors can easily koop out instead of getting better and adapting, and maybe this even gets the thing nerved.
There are other killers that have a very high drop-out rate of survivors, I am sure you have noticed this against Legion (many hate the way they are constantly stabbed and need to mend, apparently with little counterplay) or Plague (healing is just taken out of the game in matches against her, potentially invalidating a survivors entire build) and to a lesser extend Clown, though it got much better since his bottles don't mess up survivors visuals anymore.
I would hate any of this killers to somehow get caught up in a massive "exit by hook" movement, too, even though I am not overly concerned that such a thing could be orchestrated by outside forces, but it could still happen that enough survivors decide "Ah another Plague … NEXT." and then she gets nerfed because of that.

This wasn't done because people protested. Hundreds of thousands of people play this game every day all over the world. Many players likely play one or two matches in their day.
There was no organized protest. What happened was that people, who have limited time and busy lives said: 'I play this game to have fun, but I would rather stare at a hook and go back into que then play against that killer'.
then this business practice could continue with other killers, just to please more survivors, im guessing because survivors are the majority.
People don't have time, inclination, or the organization for this. They just want to play the game.
but guess what. without killers, you dont have a game.
BHVR wants to please both survivors and killers, they've demonstrated that many times.
On a pure factual level, every killer main could quit the game tomorrow, survivor mains could alternate who plays killer for the BP bonus, and the game could continue.
If every survivor main quit, the game would die instantly.
That's just numbers. They need 80% of their player base to play survivor.

Its not like Sm mains didn't know their killer was hated.
Its a live service game that chances all the time.
If you invested your time in a character like that, thats on you.

oh i agree, they let sm be this way 1 year just to freeze her in time and rework her even later. they are incredibly slow at doing things and how this whole sm situation is being handled is horrendous. but sm being unhealthy and put on the chopping block can't be degraded to "crybaby survivors", is all i'm saying.
