Soul Guard tweak idea for more suitable playstyles

Soul Guard's unique effect (when compared to other Endurance perks) is self-recovering from the Dying State. However the condition is very strict to the point we'd only get value if the killer has NOED and decides to slug.

My suggestion is to add the broken status effect as another condition for self-recovering. That way, we can synergize it during situations when we're vulnerable and the killer chooses to slug. It might be healthy for the game, please give it a thought!

Combos like Invocation/For the People/Deliverance/Soul Guard and a direct counter to Terminus/Forced Penance/and a bunch of add-ons seems fair. The killer will reconsider leaving survivors on the ground the same way when they bring No Mither.

self-recover condition is there so that player by themselves can use perk without a another survivor. unfortunately this perk show up before bvhr started to design perks like Blastmine, Flashbang, Wiretap and other perks related to do an action to trigger an effect.

I believe intention behind the hex condition was that many killer brag hex:ruin and slugged so BVHR figured that hex condition would be a reliable perk condition for the perk to trigger.

Likely, the perk would be better off if it triggers off generator progression which is more universal action that survivors are likely to do over facing an hex. Also compare other endurences effects, soulguard's duration is significantly worse than say perks like borrow time and made for this. I think its endurance duration could also use a buff. Maybe it would be interesting if also gave you a 7% if the killer hits your endurance for 40 seconds to further emphasize the perks nature to disincentive tunneling the survivor that just got picked up.

Eh. I don't see a reason not to do this.

The haste is quite a lot tbh…

I'll be happy if it gets easier to activate the self-recovery effect. It is, after all, what makes Soul Guard stand out from other endurance-oriented perks.

Honestly, I think a better idea would be to add a hefty self-recovery speed bonus while Cursed. Something like 50% compared to Unbreakable's 35%.

The issue with the self pickup isn't necessarily the Cursed requirement itself, it's just it has that AND it takes an eternity to do, since default self-recovery speed is very slow.

the haste was stretching the perk's capacities outside of scope of the perks issues of unreliability.

sure, I understand. But changing how this ability is activated needs more thought. We don't want this to become another "basekit unbreakable" situation because it'd only incite more slugging like it happened on the PTB.

The conditions for self-pickup need to be more discernable for the killer. So they know it could happen if certain "noticeable" conditions are met.

That's why I proposed the broken status effect, the killer can see it on their screen. I worry if it becomes too hard to keep pressure on downed survivors, slugging will become a meta.

PS: I don't condone slugging for the 4k but there are situations it's a good strategy. For instance, when a lot of gens are completed and you need to push survivors off gens to pickup a teammate.

This would be overpowered with No Mither
