D/C Penalty needs to go at this point.
The devs added the Bots for D/C players. Now the only reason to keep the penalty is to punish everyone who's not trying to go next, because the player will off themselves on hook, or sandbag their team for saving them. The D/C Penalty was good back when the game was lopsided on a D/C (3v1 or worse), but nowadays, it needs to go, so those that wanna go next can at least leave their team with a bot that might do gens and get saves and stuff.

It's better than people self sacrificing on hook which is really bad for those who want to play the game. DC penalty is necessary but not like it is right now, something needs done.

Counterpoint: make it harsher and make survivors unable to skip it.

Game is still lopsided when a player DCs for a bot, the bots are terrible against some killers and can be easily used for perks like pain res or pop

When picking the lesser of 2 evils, I would take removing the 4% over losing the DC penalty. I'd prefer a different solution, but I am vehermently against allowing players to get away with DCing. DCing unpunished is absolutely not something that can be allowed. Noone wants to play with or against bots, if we did, we'd play custom.
You signed up for 4vs1 game that requires 5 players to function. If you wanna leave before the game is over, fine, but you should incur a penalty for doing so.
This epidemic of SoH started as a result of removing the derank penalty from the season. One option that could be explored is bringing back deranking.
For survivor: -
- If you die within 4 minutes without being hooked at least 2 times or Mori'd, you automatically lose a pip.
- If you DC within 4 minutes you automatically lose a pip.
For killer: -
- If you DC within 4 minutes you automatically lose a pip.
For both sides if you depip 5 times, you lose a whole rank.

I've been playing the game since 2018 and have NEVER had the DC penalty pose a problem.
Are you sure that the game Dead by Daylight is good for your quality of life and well-being?

The issue is at any minor inconvenience, people will struggle to second and then try to miss skill checks to go next, versus just D/Cing and letting a bot take over. The D/C penalty is bad for the game at this point.
They need to remove tunneling as well, because people will just let themselves get rehooked if you save them and they wanna go next.0 -
To reiterate, this isn't THE reason tunneling needs to go.

Removing the DC penalty would turn the game into PvE, period.
That's why that's definitely not an option, then you can also give bots to play custom games and in the long term removing the DC penalty would definitely have this effect.
Encountering a cheater/hacker does not resolve itself by removing the DC penalty.
It may seem that way to a simple mind (many of these are inherently present in DBD), but the solution is usable better cheat protection and server side validation. The same can be applied to other topics.

I disagree.
If anything they need more timeout. I would say, have 1 for free per day but the next one is gonna cost you 5/20/60 minutes and on your 5th dc your done for the day.
We all know how useless bots are. So if someone dc's at 5 gens. Match is already tilted to the killers side. If you remove the penalty survivors would simply start an equivalent of lobby shopping. They don't like that map? Next, they don't like that killer? Next. He uses that add-on or perk or has hooked me first? Next.
The most concerning thing in this situation are still survivors throwing the match at 5 gens. So I'd suggest having more then 15 hours in dbd and killing yourself on hook is an equivalent ot a dc.0
