I really want a Dev to answer us about the Ghostface changes.
What is their thinking? Do they really think this is enough? Just two addons basekitted? That makes him less burdened, but not any more viable.
Do the Devs plan any more fixes? His Reveal mechanic being frustrating for both sides? His leaning being bugged to high heaven? His lack of any meaningful tools to pressure mapwide or even get around big maps? The lack of any antiloop? ANYTHING?

Yeah — I saw the changes and was really underwhelmed - and still am. This is the kind of safe number changes that we should get on a two-weeks bases, and not "once after every midchapter".

this 100%, devs do you see this?

Would be nice to feel heard.

I think it's a pretty good change personally. These two add-ons at the moment are extremely good, adding half of them to basekit means they are still good but make a lot more sense for common add-ons. He has add-ons of higher rarity that are pretty decent that are more viable to run now.
2 -
I agree, he become a little bit less reliant on those two add-ons specifically, which is nice!
He still could have gotten a bit more tho, I really like his add-on that makes him faster when marking someone, that one would be wonderful to have base-kit haha.

I know that chuckys is on a timer but it really boggles me how his cooldown is 12 seconds for an anti loop power that is thousand times better than ghosties.
Honestly I think the nightshroud cooldown could just be 10-12 seconds and it would totally be fine, with that just rework the cooldown addon
1 -
In reality they changed nothing. The bssekit is much weaker than the original addons, so ghosties will just have to run with the addons anyway as if no change was made just to keep from being nerfed on their most critical stats.
2 -
The two addons weren't even basekitted. And they were nerfed so much that running them makes him weaker than before. The changes are nerfs if anything. Should've just committed to implementing the add-ons to basekit and remove the addons or replace them with different effects. I doubt anyone would complain or that he would be too strong or anything.

Especially compared to newer killers. Heck, we have multiple ways a killer can expose survivors and here comes chucky who has stealth, third person camera, a charge, map traversal, and can scamper under pallets.
Ghostie can only m1, and survivors can entirely remove his power. He needs some serious love compared to modern killer designs.
5 -
Just make ACTUAL stuff like Cinch Straps, these two add-ons, and Drop-Leg basekit and rework those. Then fix the reveal and lean jank. This is nice but not enough.
1 -
Do you actually expect them to answer this? They never answer questions about balance or discuss them on the forum. They only answer questions whether or not something works or when something is wrong. The only answer you will get is when the changes from the ptb get announced.

I have to believe, damn it… ;~;
EDIT: LOL they answered me with some amount of info.Post edited by SidneysBane1996 on1 -
Yeah. The "make things partially basekit but make the add ons weaker than they were" ######### needs to stop.

I think survivors should have some sort of penalty for revealing him.
Ghostface is like Trapper. Survivors can follow him around all game harassing him. For Trapper, it's disarming his traps. For Ghostface, it's revealing him.
Trapper has really good add-ons to counter this. (Bloody Coil, Iridescent Stone, Oily Coil)
All Ghostface has is Telephoto Lens, and Night Vision Monocular. Both are pretty bad.
I think revealing him should instantly put 20% extra stalk on your meter, to a maximum of 80% total stalk.
Unless he's already stalking you, in which case, revealing him will remove 40% of your stalk progress.
This would make survivors have to make a sacrifice for revealing him. And reward them for revealing him while he's stalking them.

I agree that Reveal should be more punishing overall. It shouldn't be so free if they really can't fix the Reveal mechanic. No Killer should be able to have Survivors lock them out of their power.
4 -
They need a healthy counter. Ghost face is so easily bullied.
This is my struggle with Sadako - it’s too easy to lock her out of 2 of 3 powers.Very frustrating and I hope the properly tune ghost face.

About Ghostface, these are just tweaks, so purely number changes that can be done without the need of programming support (for the most part). They're totally not going to change the character to a large extent, but they will hopefully make some slight improvements.
This is not to say Ghost face won't get further changes down the line, but these are what we have the bandwidth for right now - especially given this is a Chapter release.

Thanks for swinging in!
I mean, making dropleg knife sheath basekit is just a numbers tweak and would help him tremendously.
Our problem with the tweaks as is is that they don't accomplish anything. The basekit changes are weaker than the original addons, so unless ghosties want to be weaker than before, they have to still use the addons anyway just to stay on par with their original strength. He's a very weak killer that can have his power entirely eliminated by survivors and only has m1 capabilities. If all you can do is tweak numbers for now, either Make those addons entirely base kit, or make the dropleg knife basekit. He generally has to run those two addons to stay viable, so if most people are going to have to keep running those addons anyway, at least making something else even partially basekit is a help. He's an outdated and weak designed killer...especially vs newer killers. If a kit overhaul isn't an option, at least make an impactful numbers change. Partial basekit on addons that will end up seeing to be run anyway to maintain their original power isn't the way to do it.
I hope that makes sense.

Here's an idea for you guys
Why not just make Philly and Walleye's fully basekit?? And change the add-ons to something else.
It would make him feel sooo much better to play as. And it certainly wouldn't make him too strong, I mean he's one of the weakest killers in the game right now.
These PTB changes are nice but they just aren't enough.

Thank you for saying something. I really hope that means you're monitoring him, and in a Midchapter patch sometime soon he will get a little more. It's kinda sad to me such a beloved Killer and such a popular one has kinda low killrates according to your own stats; I think everyone can agree that all Killers should be performing at or around that 60% especially ones with lower Killrates.
I trust the process and hope that these changes will help him feel a lot better while you guys cook up something - maybe some fixes to bugs, Reveal inconsistency, and an addon pass? Maybe Dropleg basekit or add stuff like Cinch Straps? He really does get punished very hard for what he does; it doesn't feel overly fair to either side when he's in play and I'm certain the Ghostface Mains AND Survivors would both appreciate a closer look in the near future.Does this mean you are in fact aware of his reveal issues and the lean bug, and have something possibly planned for later or will address it later?

I'll give you a direct quote from a former DBD developer regarding Ghostface's reveal mechanic:
"This is actually very complicated. It has to do with a lot of things about screen space, that aren't obvious. It has to do with the difference in perspective between what's on the server, what's on the killer's perspective, what's on the survivors perspective. Obstruction is also a little bit more complicated than you might think. Trying to determine how much of a character is visible or not is a non-trivial problem."
2 -
And they have a very fair point. It's doubtful they could fix the revelation mechanic, BUT since we live in the reality of how it is now, slightly increasing how long it takes to reveal ghostface would be a big help since it would give him time to dodge out of view before getting revealed. Right now, revealing is so fast that with the lag compensation in the game, you get revealed through walls almost every time.
3 -
My issue is that nerfing 2 addons and making them partially basekit, isn't enough for a "let's put this on the roadmap so people can look forward to it". If I run those 2 nerfed addons, then my Ghostface experience is 99.9% identical to how he was before the updates.
These Ghostface changes should have been unannounced, and just thrown into some random patch.
7 -
I don't think they should make it take longer. Keep in mind how fast he can mark someone. Just 4.5 seconds, and if he's leaning, 2.2 seconds. That is incredibly fast.
I think they should make Lasting Perfume basekit (Hooked survivors take 3 seconds to reveal him) Because there's nothing more annoying than getting instantly revealed by a hooked survivor, even though you're 20 meters away & behind a wall.
2 -
I do think something might be bugged. Sometimes I get revealed in about a second. However, other times, it takes about 3.5 seconds. The whole "getting revealed" sound is elongated, as well. When it takes that long, it gives a chance to dodge out of view, but I don't know why the longer version happens. I'm not running any reveal extending addons.
Makes me wonder if the 1 second getting revealed is actually broken since it makes dodging out of view almost impossible and that the 3.5 second one is supposed to be happening.
1 -
But surely all they have to do is tweak some numbers on distance, reveal time, or reveal sensitivity. I don't see how it needs a full reprogramming…
1 -
what do you mean? Philly reduces max stalk to 4 seconds and lean stalk is 2 seconds. even with that, he's worst performing killer. ghostface is about potent first hits but he's not good enough at getting potent first hits vs competent teams. too easy to counter and triggering of the mark has low burst impact at base-kit.
1 -
I know the Philly stats. The numbers I said are his basekit numbers in the PTB.
Worst performing killer? You're exaggerating. A lot.
I do think he should have basekit Drop Leg Knife Sheath. Not the full 10% though, just 5%.
2 -
i think they should at least make philly 12% so it is not worse then current iteration.
0 -
Ghostface consistently ranks between High C and Low B in most tierlists. Anyone ranking him lower than this is underselling him or just not great at him. He's not a "bad", "weak" Killer. He's a mid tier Killer with serious jank issues that is in need of some love to keep up with modern DBD.
1 -
Agree. Right now the changes would be a nerf, because you take a little bit longer to mark than before with that addon.
Philly should be 15% so we can actually call it a buff.
3 -
What are you talking about? No it's not.
0 -
5 x 0,8 = 4 (live with Philly)
4,5 x 0,9 = 4,05 (ptb with Philly)
It’s not much different, but still a nerf.
3 -
I've seen a Ghostface main on YT do some tests on the PTB, and he said the Philly speed is actually 3.9 now, so actually 0.1 faster than it should be (unless he timed it wrong)
0 -
It is probably bugged like Ring drawing was for over a month until it got fixed or he just timed it wrong like you said. You can do the math yourself. When you calculate it, it is less than before.
