The 2v8 gamemode mechanics would make for a PERFECT 1v4 casual mode
I've been playing a lot of 2v8 since it came out (both this time and the previous time it was made available) and it really has me thinking about the main 1v4 game.
Obviously the 2v8 mode isn't perfect, but I can't help but notice that a lot of the basekit changes and tweaks it introduces would actually fit perfectly into the regular format as some sort of "Casual" mode. Imagine a modifier that kept the normal 1v4 format but looked like this:
- Classes are now available to both Survivors and Killers, each with their own unique Skills
- for Killer:
— Generator auras can only be seen when nearby or being repaired by 2 or more survivors
— Breaking a generator reveals the auras of any nearby Survivors and increases the regression speed to 200%
— Picking up a Survivor remotely sends them to a Cage of Corruption
— Starting a chase with a Survivor reveals their aura to you
— When a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors who have not yet been caged are revealed
- for Survivor:
— Your Team Skill can be activated for additional effects
— Uncaging a Survivor reduces the Team Skill's remaining cooldown time
— Self-recovering from the dying state consumed your charged Team Skill
— Each Survivor Class gains an Unlockable Skill when Caged for the first time
— Survivor uncage speed is increased when a Killer is nearby
- Generator repair speed increases or deceases slightly when:
— A survivor is sent to a Cage of Corruption
— A generator has been completed
Does that not sound like a dream-come-true mode for casual players? Even if this modifier concept isn't perfect, it would be hugely missed potential if none of these excellent basekit updates were implemented in the Live game. BHVR nailed the formula that makes this game feel fun again and it doesn't have as much to do with the increased size of the match as you'd think.

If it is not as absurdly survivor sided as 2v8 is.

Maybe, but I don't think it would have lasting appeal. 2v8 reduces the complexity of a lot of the game elements that exist in 1v4 because twice the number of players adds its own challenges. Without the larger player size I feel like the game would grow stale really quickly.
That said, if they tried it as a modifier I'd give it a go, but I don't think it would work out that well.

I think that it would involve a lot of effort making it a long lasting permanent option. DBD has a lot of depth in the 1vs4 mode, making it this casual and “stealing” people from the normal mode would probably backfire. I mean, current queues and issues, idk.

DBD and "casual" should never be associated with one another because everyone is focused on fairness and balance. Look at the first comment on this thread for proof.

I do admit, it would be significantly more boring compared to normal 1v4. Without perks, a lot of the variety in playstyles gets boiled down to a handful of options based on archetypes
But I still do think certain aspects of the 2v8 modifier (such as generator speeds slowing/speeding up based on who's winning and experimenting more with Cages of Corruption) would actually do wonders in the main game and should be explored0 -
Could be interesting but I feel like it would fall off very quickly. 2v8 was interesting because of the 2v8 not so much the gameplay mechanics.

There's definitely ideas in 2v8 that I wish the 1v4 game had been built around from the beginning. To incorporate them though I think it would require a large overhaul of the base game, which would be a strange thing to do given that it is still incredibly popular.
