Should Unknown UVX explode on impact?
to be more specific Should Unknowns UVX explode on weakened survivors, on impact? A simple buff like this would solve his UVX issues and make him easier to use and get the hang of.
My biggest gripe with Unknown is that his UVX is so easy to counter as survivor that the most effective strategy that I’ve noticed is literally just faking you’re power for easy m1’s which imo is really lame and really disincentives using his power normally especially if you miss, it increases the length of time in you’re chase dramatically cause he gets slowed down a lot and now has to reset the weakened status effect since it only takes 10 seconds while the power itself has a 7 second cooldown which makes the killer quite frustrating.
I typically don’t advocate for making a killers easier but imo Unknown is an exception. It could be a skill issue on my part but I just find him too frustrating to get any actual enjoyment nor do I think actually pulling off UVX hits isn’t really effective since it really doesn’t feel like it shortens chases and imo probably lengthens them especially if you miss.
The only good thing about Unknown is his hallucinations and his design, I Like this killer but he’s imo harder to play then nurse and singularity.

One of the many no skill Killers and you want to make Unknown even less skilled? Have you seen how all you have to do is aim at the floor and not at the Survivor?

have you played the killer? It’s not that simple and most of the time survivors can and will just run into you to avoid it.

harder to play? no, unrewarding? yes.
i think his weaken mechanic should weaken the survivor by hindering them for 3% if the survivor does not look at the killer. this would improve his m1 game by rewarding him for his first shot and require the survivor to have higher competency in playing the chase.
This would also make subsequent shots easier to land for survivor that do not look behind them from hindered.

I appreciate the clarification on harder to play and unrewarding because he is hard to play because he’s unrewarding not necessarily because he’s hard to play
anyway I disagree, I don’t think survivors should be slowed for just landing you’re power. While that would technically help it would be a unhealthy buff and I don’t think slapping a negative MFT is good game design.

Hotter take make UVX bomb injure on hit

but they can avoid it by looking at the killer.

maybe but I think the reason why Unknown has to “weaken” is for balancing and lore reasons since unknown does have a teleport power and Huntress doesn’t I think if they made it where it instantly explodes against weakened survivors it would make the weakened effect threatening and not make it too easy to counter when you’re already weakened.

Maybe cleansing a husk should inflict weakened

I can agree to the idea that it DOES seem silly that UVX does not detonate on impact, I wonder what the developers had in mind?
I would prefer it to be on hit detonation, so they must have decided on a why not? maybe it was just too powerful in playtests.Post edited by Emeal on1 -
No skill? You clearly have never played unknown at a decent mmr. 🤨
You must think huntress is no skill too.

I'd love a change like this. Every time I try and aim at a survivor's feet to get the hit with the UVX, they just move slightly and it just passes through them and misses their feet, leading them to be minusculely slowed for a portion of a second before racing away.

Unknown was a killer that I dropped in the first week simply because of this. It is so incredibly frustrating seeing the ball bounce off a weakened survivor and then not have a chase power for several seconds and 9 times out of 10 the survivor gets their weakened status off. To me it always felt like Unknown was punished for a direct hit more than rewarded. It probably wouldn't be anywhere near as frustrating if I didn't also get an audio stinger from the game telling me "You got a direct hit but no injure. :)" that honestly frustrates me way more than the act of not getting an injury itself to be honest.
