Suggestion to discourage tunneling

I think they got something right in 2v8. I think a way to discourage tunneling would be similar to how stages worked in 2v8.

The time required to repair a gen is decreased based on the number of people dead.

Say base time is 90 seconds. Killer tunnels out one survivor, it drops to 75. Once the second survivor is dead, it drops to 60. Third survivor dead doesn't matter because by that point the fourth is either looking for hatch or (most likely) already slugged.

Obviously not set on these numbers but just a thought that came to mind and I am curious to see what the community thinks.

I'll be the killer here, "So I get punished for killing survivors?" BHVR are never going to get rid of tunneling, too many killers rely on it to feel like they're good at the game.

Even if that means they increase the time required to finish a gen to start. Say gens are increased to 120 seconds, then drop to 90 and 60.

Oh yeah, because killers don't ever finish games on 3-5 already.

If you're dying consistently at 3-5 gens that's a skill issue on the survivors part being unable to last in chase longer than 20s on these safe tiles while simultaneously deciding to just never do generators, these aren't the people you should be balancing a game around especially when MMR is being used.

Even if a killer hard tunnels, it takes 70 seconds to go to a second hook state on the hook. If a team is unable to do ONE GEN with 140 seconds of sitting on a hook, 20 seconds worth of hook time AND 40 seconds worth of chase time because they are really bad in chase then no amount of balancing short of making gens instantly pop is going to help them.

Killer Main here, honestly it didnt feel gamebreaking in 2v8, but it didnt feel strong as survivor.

2v8 didn’t have items and most perks that get brought to make gens go even faster. Plus, there is the fact that there’s two killers and yes, there’s eight survivors, but even still. So what they did for that mode worked, and was necessary, but it will not work, and is definitely not necessary in regular mode where people have items to increase gen speed and tons of perks for it.

Good grief I don't know why I even posted this. Of course the comments immediately go back to "skill issue" or "loop better". That is the default response to these posts.

You killer mains do not seem to understand the killer decides the pace and style of the game.

If you have to tunnel to get any kills because survivors are too good for you, maybe you should take your own advice and get better or, and hear me out here, stop caring so much about the 4k because you have to sweat to get it which pushes you into higher MMR brackets that you are clearly not skilled enough for then think this game is survivor sided when you had to play like a scumbag in a VIDEO GAME to get there.

Yall don't want killers to slug, tunnel, hook you, have good powers, or win chases... How are we supposed to play again?

See Ya'll is too broad there. I like when killers use their powers. It changes things up. And (for the most part) I dont give a crap what perks the killers use because they are there to be used. I dont care about getting hooked, its part of the game. Just dont play like a scumbag.

So how about you rethink your statement and try to make it less generalized because not one person in this thread complained about being hooked, having good powers or losing chase.

Clearly you are one of the people that need to get better instead of tunneling.

Buffs to Yui-Jin Fast Track perk and Laurie Sole survivor? Won't it be fun as killer to be punished for doing your hook objective?

And they created perks to mitigate it like shoulder the Burden much to some Killers temper tantrums.

Let them have their temper tantrums. If they can’t handle a perk - they should take a breath and a break from the game.

I have a perk idea that could solve 3 problem at once: Make a killer perk that gives gen speed reduction based on the amount of survivors remaining (more alive ⇒ slower). This can encourage the killer to not tunel so he won't lose the buff, help reduce the gen speed problem (which is huge for many killers), and it also makes less of a diffrence for survivors to lose a team mate because they now have faster gen speeds in exchange. This doesn't need to be huge amount, just enough for encouragement.
