Dbd has been on a downhill slope since 6.1

Ever since 6.1 dbd has gotten really stale janky not fun to play a sweat fest on both sides dbd has lost its personality and funny moments focusing on over balancing things and making everything so bland and dull has really killed the game

I think as an ltm you should make an old dbd mode like Fortnite did let players experience the game they fell in love with again instead of this dull bland boring mess of a game where everything is dulled down to gens and kills dbd never used to be that it’s so sad to watch this game get dulled down every patch

find it crazy I’m a trapper main and I have more fun chasing 4 dead hards than 4 lithes and sprint bursts lithe has no counter dead hard did…

you say that until they use dead hard to I-frame all your traps… fearmonger takes care of sprint burst fairly well if your looking for a counter.

dead hard was never an issue to me because I loved using dead hard my self it was a fun perk fun to chase and fun to use it wasn’t I vault a window and get free distance but that’s just my personal opinion

Dead hards intended usage was the fun dodge way but most people used it to cover 4m in 0.5 seconds, essentially as a mistake eraser etc without any conditions. I understand your sentiment though, its no fun watching a survivor zoom away especially as an m1 killer.

honestly dead hard for distance was a really fun perk like extremely fun but I can see why that got nerfed but endurance dead hard was so outplayable I will never understand why it got nerfed now I’m doomed to lithe finesse gamers every game lmao but it’s more than just dead hard it’s old maps the new maps they release just aren’t enjoyable for both sides idk it just don’t feel like dbd anymore it still has its good moments but few and far between

I'm not interested in original dbd mode.

Those of us who played DBD in the 2016-2020 range may be seeing things through nostalgia, but it certainly felt wayyyyyyy more fun and chaotic.

Changes to the game over say the last two or three years has made the game feel more efficient and almost competitive-like, which will always feel less fun to longer term players.

Now don't get me wrong, the surv hud and hook BT and anti-facecamp are great (as are some other changes) but it must be said we got to the point of needing such things for very specific reasons.

Nah, if anything, it's them making changes for the "unbalanced fun" crowd that makes me play the game less. It's very often small things, but there's a lot of them. I still play the game, even if much less than before, but they definitely need to ignore the "unbalanced fun" crowd (Aka killer/survivor mains) if they want the game to continue being successful.

Maybe it is rose coloured glasses but damn I started playing in 2017 and had my best memories on this game I miss the old chaotic nature the idgaf about balance and just want to have fun mindset I remember being able to play both sides for as long as I want without getting burnt out after a hour or two

The game is way less successful since 6.1 tbh dbd will always thrive because of the nature of the game but us veterans are dropping in numbers you wouldn’t get it unless you experienced prime dbd it was just different times man

Like when you get found ur prettymuch dead unless you could loop lol somehow getting killed fast and going to the next one was more fun then having wesker fly over to your hook everytime you get pulled off and waits for ur endurance to come off and puts u back on 2 more times in a row before touching anyone else like they chose you personally lol. The end of every round was either you had fun and got out or you had fun till you died. Now it just takes everything not to say anything in the chat when the guy that slugged everyone with knockout says "gg"

This might be a controversial take, but maybe you miss when you were bad rather than the state the game was in when you were?

I dunno... I've heard veterans say this a lot... but as someone who took a very keen interest in the history of Dead By Daylight, all the things people cite and complain about as things being "unfun" in modern DBD, don't look like they were any less doable back in the day, and often were even more exploitable.

For example I hear people talk about: -

    • AFC does nothing, killers just proxy camp... and yet Bubba face camping people under hook is apparently fondly remembered and better state of the game?
    • Killers constantly tunnel off hook... and yet old Borrowed Time was hard meta that everyone took because it was so common.
    • Killers constantly slug the whole team to death... and yet the old version of DS required killers to juggle if they were close enough to hook or leave survivors slugged.
    • The Finisher Mori is so obnoxious, I hate having to watch moris as the killer rubs it in my face... and yet old moris could literally kill you on your first down.
    • Modern flashlights take no skill, the old version you had to time it... and yet old flashlights had the add-ons to insta-blind the killer effortlessly even if they were walking.
    • Survivors have so many second chance perks that are incredibly unfair to have to chew through... and yet in conjunctions with numerous infinites littering the game, survivors also had old Dead Hard where even if they made a mistake on said infinite, they could push a button and gain that mistake back.
    • SBMM is plain broken, it doesn't work pairing newbies with veterans, and encourages sweaty play; the old grade system was so much better... except at the start of each season 10hr players would be thrown in with 5000+ players until they made it up the ranks, and players would crunch teams hard with broken strats until they reached top grade, and you only need to look at a single PTB to see how this goes.

Like... this is only a fraction of things from the history of DBD,and I honestly can't see how veterans can look at old DBD and think all of this unbelievably unfair BS somehow makes the game better or more fun...

Even if I'm being super generous... the only way I can see these mechanics as fun is because you're too busy laughing hard at the players (who don't know about/dont have a means to handle these things), that you are freely slam dunking hard into the tarmac to care how broken stuff is...

I've heard people like Coconuts talk about how DBD was better as a wild west, and when you break down the language carefully it basically amounted to "yes OP stuff is annoying to face, but it wasn't every game, and there were games where your OP stuff got to shine". Basically the medicine to getting dunked on was dunking on someone yourself... 😒

NGL... as post 6.1.0 baby, this sounds absolutely awful to me.

Well I think most people only miss the OP broken stuff for their side. Cant Imagine many Killers wanting old DHL or mettle back, as example.

the game started going downhill when they removed the lightburn mechanic. the game should encourage interaction, not remove it.
