Wiretap buff suggestion

Short summary of the changes:

  • Works on totems
  • Less generator progress required
  • No longer on a timer
  • Has tokens
  • Can be active on multiple generators
  • Can be placed on finished generators

To not make it uncountable, the killer can kick finished or not progresses generators and totems affected by Wiretab.

That’s how the new Wiretab would look like:

  • After completing a total of 33% (was 40%) worth of repair progress, gain one token up to two (was it activated).
  • Press the active ability button while near a (was partially progressed) generator or totem (new) to install wiretap, which will consume one token. Wiretap stays active until the killer damages the generator by any means (and was only active for 120s)
  • The aura of trapped generators are revealed to all survivors in yellow.
  • Whenever the Killer comes within 14 metres of the Trapped Generator their Aura is revealed to all Survivors.

What do you think?

    What exactly?

Removing the timer is easy, the token system can be copied from another perk, less generator progress also easy, can be active on multiple generators should also be easy and placing it on totems can be done exactly like with boons just without the extremely loud sound.

Can be placed on finished generators is the only thing, that could be more complicated.

This perk does not need a buff and it should never be able to be used on totems. There is no way for the killer even know now if Wiretap is on the gen so how in the world he would know he should kick a dull totem that someone used this on?

The ONLY buff I would suggest is showing if the timer or the Killer removed the status effect of Wiretap something SWFs would know anyways.

One suggestion is changing the sound effect gives us a clue which might be useful for a stealth killer.

There is no valid reason to not make it work on totems, but there should be a way for the killer to know wiretap is placed on one. I would probably give the totem a small object like with chemical trap with a relatively quiet noice or make it glow blue like boons, but without the extremely loud boon sound.

That buff would do nothing and not even be worth changing the perk. Why are you against buffing a bad perk?

Thanks for the response. I very much appreciate it.

My goal wasn’t to make it perfectly balanced, but to highlight my frustrations with this perk and to give as many ideas for buffs as possible (even if they are too much).

One buff, more a revert of a nerf, I would still like to get is requiring 33% again instead of 40%. Having it at 33% again would be great to make it more available again. Also please return the ability to place it on generators while working on them. I liked those two parts of the old version very much and it was better, because it was faster to place it and more available.

Would it be possible for you to reveal maybe two or three on your lists that need some work?

I think it would be interesting to do a thread like that, basicly you name three perks and we squeeze our minds about them.
Could also be a good way to get people to say things about perks they dont like,
which could inspire the devs on how to eliminate pain points of said perks?

Yeah that would be very cool. I support that.

Imagine we could give the devs ideas, so we get more perk changes per update.

The thing is, they probably already know how they want to buff those perks and don’t need feedback to that. They are planning perk changes, I think, at least 6 months ahead.
