Houndmaster is still in desperate need of attention.

It's been three months since she dropped and she is still far from functional, both from a technical and viability standpoint.
From a technical standpoint her dog's pathfinding is still abjectly broken. He is still plagued with issues like standing still when giving a command, stopping at vault locations, going in the opposite direction around an object than was indicated by the path, pulling survivors away from the Houndmaster, and a whole laundry list of other issues that are so frequent that it is a genuine rarity for the dog to do as he is told.
From a viability standpoint the dog's hitbox is extremely small and easy to avoid even in long, narrow corridors where any other dash/leap/ground-crawling straight-line ranged attack/etc. would've hit 100 times out of 100. The dog also has an incredibly slow activation/acceleration on the redirect that makes him very easy to react to. Lastly, Houndsense is just massively underwhelming as a mechanic. Inflicting Houndsense categorically does nothing, and the debuffs inflicted by getting attacked while Houndsensed are so small and ineffectual that they feel like nothing, even from a survivor perspective.
It feels like everyone has forgotten Houndmaster exists and that's a problem because she needs help worse than any killer has needed it in years. Even in a world where she doesn't need buffed, her power three months after her release is in a state of dysfunctionality that rivals Twins PTB. She is, as a killer, unusable, and as a product, unfinished.

they need to give her a bunch of bug fixes and qoL while also revisiting that vault speed. It’s so stupid how you can be half way through a vault pretty much touching the ground and the dog vaults so quick that you still get hit. I find it really dumb that the counterplay is to stand still at a pallet and wait for her dog to grab u then stun the dog. You can’t predrop anywhere near her or else she gets a free injury or grab that leads to a hit.

this is what happens when new content is constantly being cranked out. All resources are devoted to working on the next thing while fixing bugs/improving older content gets the lowest priority. As more content gets added, the more there is to maintain, meaning the problem keeps getting worse and worse.

The counter is pressing D on your keyboard since it breaks the dog in half because his coding runs on the electric signals generated by the heartbeats of an actual dog.

No idea if this is accurate but the description you gave is far too humorous for it not to be.

In my experience it is, a survivor could accidentally slip and let go of the analogue stick on their 10-year-old PS4 controller held together by thoughts and prayers and that would be enough to make Snug completely miss and run straight past them.

I dunno, aside from the occasional pathing bug (which I find less frustrating than a lot of other stuff in the game for some reason) I don't have any issues playing her. She's better than like 60%+ of the killer cast, easier to pick up than a lot of other killers in her tier (especially on controller), and overall just relaxing to play. If anything I think they ought to look at the vault & cooldown changes they did with her last batch of changes, because they're kind of overtuned in comparison to other killer powers. She's never really punished for using her power inefficiently and I think that makes her feel unrewarding at times.

yeah, this was NOT a good chapter rollout if i'm being honest. from the buggy release, to the junito ito auric cell drama, to the awful visceral rarity skin for houndmaster (worst legendary skin btw), and the introduction of the worst perk in the game on both sides. i think i'm keen to sweep this section of the game underneath the rug when we get the toyko ghoul chapter if i'm being honest.

Perhaps the killer simply isn't for you if you're struggling with her in her current state, bug woes aside.

I love her as an idea, and when she works she's fun. She just doesn't work.
I can't prove you don't do well with her as much as I honest to God disbelieve it, but I can't just take your word at face value and act like my matches that consist of constant issues with the dog standing completely still when asked to do anything, getting stuck on air, pathing around something he was nowhere near, not creating paths in search mode, clipping through survivors, or turning off entirely just didn't happen. The killer is unfinished, full stop.

She has multiple bugs, clunky features, and a pretty irrelevant mechanic in Houndsense.
She needs a lot of bug fixes and QOL.
Then, adjust Snug's vault speed, and give Houndsense more passive things to do that don't require a hit to trigger.
And of course, revisit some of her weaker add-ons.

She's just weird to play. One game can be fine, the dog does exactly what you tell it, but then the next game it disappears for a while for no apparent reason, gets stuck somewhere, it just refuses to go the direction you tell it and sometimes doesn't even do anything at all even though you've pressed everything exactly the same as what worked perfectly the previous match.
Just really frustrating to play and seems to have completely vanished from my survivor games recently, so other people must be having similar issues.

Oh dude speaking of her weaker addons
I know it was incredibly strong on the PTB but the absolute massacring of Knotted Rope is one of historical proportions and I have no idea why they bothered with that second nerf.
