BHVR, please be careful on the incoming anti slug mechanic

Just had a skull merchant match which I unfortunately had to slug a survivor after he repeatedly abused boil over in the upper part of the main building in crotus. So I eventually had to slug him which ironically he DC’d a few minutes after.
I’m all for reducing slugging but I also don’t want killers punished for slugging when it’s most necessary. Thats all I’m saying. :-)

They won't i suspect.
All of the information they released, has been talking about how its "unfun to go against" and "hard to counter" and "annoying to deal with" etc. Without actually acknowledging the issue of WHY killers slug.

Yeah idk. After the survey in what January I think? They asked a bunch of stuff about how people feel about slugging. And from what I've heard it was mainly from the survivor perspective.
4 -
Thats what I took from it too, seemed like it was a question for survivors only.
8 -
the upcoming ‘anti-slugging’ plans aren’t going to negatively impact killers and it’s not going to discourage them from slugging so I don’t see why you’re worried.
-8 -
Or they are not as careful with it as you want and they just finally change Boil Over to a Perk which is not only brought for stuff like this.
(Chances are high that the measurements are completely inefficient and will only be relevant once in a blue moon…)
3 -
new slugging changes: After a killer slugs a survivor for more than 10 seconds, the killer falls over and dies and the survivors automatically escape and are allowed to hit the griddy 3 times on the way out.
-4 -
I’m worried because we’ve seen lots of questionable changes made by BHVR.
5 -
You’re right on the money here, slugging can be annoying but I feel like a lot of survivors that complain too much about it are the same ones that try to flashlight/pallet save or sabo hooks constantly.

yes and this is definitely one of them- because it’s not going to stop slugging at all, but rather promote it. Not really sure why it’s even being labelled as an ‘anti slugging’ mechanic.
-8 -
if you’re referring to the surrender button you are correct but I’m talking about the continued anti slugging mechanics that are planned in phase 2 of the health updates.

and I feel like a lot of the killers that say it isn’t an issue don’t experience the other end of the spectrum enough to truly say it isn’t. Slugging has become endemic right now. It used to be slugging for the 4k, which was annoying and unfair feeling enough. But in the last few months killers slugging at 5/4/3 gens has become absolutely rife.
6 -
Honestly I can’t even get past the surrender option to think about the second phase- it just seems so poorly conceived.

I just don’t think killers are slugging for no reason, what we need is BHVR to understand why killers are doing it.
1 -
I guarantee no one is getting slugged nearly as often as they claim here.
-3 -
I tunnel, slug and camp as Killer as I want to win the game and it's mostly situational, I don't go out of my way to do it to "troll" or "annoy" survivors, I want to win and use those strategies to help me.
Majority the time as an m1 killer you have to tunnel your objective, this case the survivor out of the game as quick as possible to make it likely to achieve a 3k or 4k, and it's pretty standard thing to do, as the comp scene of dbd does it.

I played 3 matches tonight and got bled out two of them then went and played a different game. This is a very bold assumption.
And to add, I am solo q, I do not go for the flashie/pallet saves, sabos or anything like that which would encourage it. These were all chaos shuffle games, crap perks normal gameplay.
3 -
No offense but aren't you the one who likes to complain about killer players that always expect the worst case scenario when it comes to killer changes and new killers? Why on earth are you doing the same for the survivor side?
-2 -
The last time they did something (Anti-FACEcamping as Killers like to make it clear) it is inefficient and probably more frustrating. Plus measurement one of Anti-Slugging is not "Anti-Slugging", only giving the Survivors a chance to give up.
And the actual measurements for Anti-Slugging which might even be ineffective, can also only arrive in December.

he DC’d a few minutes after
You are supposed to be the aggrieved party in your cautionary tales, fyi

In the Survey, you ARE asked to identify as either Survivor or Killer, main or both player.
That means BHVR knows if Killer mains support it or not.Killer Mains such as myself support it.

I'm around 70% survivor player and I just don't see this epidemic of slugging everyone around here sees. I suspect a lot of the claims are from people that count every slug no matter how short or infrequent in a match as excessive.
I see this a lot on Twitch. It's something so small such as a killer notices someone else around so makes sure it's safe to pick up and the person on the ground is already complaining about slugging.
That being said, I totally acknowledge my personal experiences doesn't mean others aren't having issues with slugging.
5 -
I think some survivors just don’t like being on the ground even if it’s just for 10 seconds.
3 -
Killers want to complain but survivors are getting their stealth nerfed just as hard. Crows 1 acting like current Crows 3 means its easier for killer to find players if they trapped them.
0 -
you’re talking about the upcoming hiding prevention, thats not gonna make any difference if you don’t hide.
-1 -
No, I’m only counting the times I’m seeing multiple people get downed or when the killer deliberately goes out of their way to do it consistently at any point in the match. Glad for you that you haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

killers will be punished for slugging. they changed knockout (the only slugging perk) got changed completely because people started using it because gen speed is still a problem and hooking buffs the survivors.
i have no faith in behavior
1 -
Me personally I try to have hope in BHVR but faith is hard for me.
0 -
no they should release it, stop holding this game from growing, surrender should be there if 3 survs are slugged otherwise griefing killers will abuse it, like not slugging last survs and humping 3 slugged survs

out of curiosity, where in crotus can you not reach a hook with boil over? Keep in mind it only grants bonus progress based on your current progress. So if you've been carrying the survivor for 6 seconds it only grants 2 extra seconds to your wiggle. Was the problem that you just didn't know where the hooks were?
1 -
the first pickup I lost track when trying to manuever out of the building so that was mostly on my part, second pickup I almost made it to the hook but the survivor wiggled. Also wanna point out the survivor just let me down them at the gen that was upstairs so he could use wiggling out to their advantage.
2 -
Yeah, I really didn't like how those questions were phrased.
3 -
There's a hole in the floor right there next to the gen you can pickup the survivor and drop down in less than 3 seconds, which adds less than 1 second of wiggle, so if basement is in main you can make it easily, alternatively you should be able to make a hook near the greenhouse tile since the drop down in the main room is very close to the main building exit that's right there.
I agree that unhookable spots are bad but I am not aware of a single remotely consistent location where it is impossible to hook a survivor without sabotaging a hook first.

You're on console, right?
Boil Over is nasty to deal with on controller. Sometimes I'll get stuck in place and be unable to move, and trying to sideways-walk it as I've seen people suggest doesn't really help. Slugging is the only base-game counter to Boil Over.
This just reminds me of how unhealthy Boil Over is and how much the perk needs to be changed. BHVR is changing Knock Out so it doesn't encourage slugging; Boil Over is the same nonsense.
