Why do we need to cap on skill level. Why low level players have to suffer?
Why do we need the skill level cap? So players that use this as a second job have to play. No. That is totally wrong. I as a beginner / someone that plays casually shouldn't be forced against lvl 100 sweat players. I get no benefit. Sure make a x2 x3 BP for me if I go against high lvl/MMR players that way at least I benefit even if I lose but when I have a mission and it takes me 13-15 maps instead of your quickest 2 maps something is wrong.
The majority shouldn't suffer because some players stay in queue more. Punishing the many for the benefit of the few is backwards. I feel when I play that I have 1 good game and get a 3-4k and then for the next 20 or so matches I barely get one kill because everyone is a pro player or close, that makes my games unplayable. Why not display the MMR in the scoreboard at the end so we know exactly what we are up against?
They wont do that because they barely have a few hundred players/skill level and it's invers proportional with MMR. Why do I know that in 20 or so 2v8 matches I was with the same 5 players and I am like, sure there are no other players playing this game. (2v8 had 400% BP so most played it).

Public MMR only opens up the way to harassment, minmaxing MMR gains and constant complaints to the devs about how they think [x] or [y] metric should matter for MMR more or less because they think the number matters for anything.
I know that in 20 or so 2v8 matches I was with the same 5 players and I am like, sure there are no other players playing this game.
During February, the game hovered 50,000 concurrent players on Steam alone for the entirety of 2v8. Perhaps you ran into the same SWF repeatedly as you were all re-queueing at the same time, or you are playing on a smaller server?

A Soft Cap is indeed needed so that people who are really good at the game dont have to wait for ages to find a Lobby. I also dont think that you will suffer from this on a regular basis. Especially if you consider yourself a low level player, you will not run into those people who are the reason why the Soft Cap exists.
And to be fair, yes, this also applies to Streamers. Because they are a big source of advertisement - and it would just be a really bad way of advertising the game, when potentially interested players see Streamers basically playing other games while they wait in their long lobbies because their MMR is too high.

Aven you think that but lets put it into perspective. Today I played 20 or so matches and won 1 just because I let the last person on hook die and got lucky and opened the gate while the killer went to the other one ( only worked once in 5 times I was the last person) and to add insult to injury at one point I got tunnelled by a Wesker, killed and then he let everyone else go. No other hooks except me.
The popular streamer Otzdarva stays in queue no more than a minute and No one can tell me he doesn't have high MMR. HE should be in queue for 5+ min at his level but he gets in matches sometimes quicker than me and this is after seing 3-4 matches of his live.

It used to work exactly how you say. Good killers waited a long time for the game and games were overall sweatfest.
I think Dowsey with Twins waited over an hour to get the game, when he was on kill streak, which should simply never happen.
Strict MMR was hated by majority of people on both sides and I am glad it's mostly gone. Funny is during 2v8 I have seen how no match making looks like, so I would say MMR definetly still has an effect, just not as big as before.-1 -
Ultimately the devs cater to keep queue times short for the highest of mmr players since it largely hurt streamers and that didn't look good for BHVR.

So having a huge MMR had someone wait in queue for 1h. That just proves my point of why do I need to go against a player that "lives to play DBD" (jk). Sure 1h seems excessive BUT if they go and min-max the game to be the best then you wont have who to play with.
1 Strict MMR was never hated by low skill players since they got players of their level not a lvl 100 killer when you have combined lvl of 30-ish.
2 Now otzdarva to use as the example, from the limited amount of live streams I've seen NEVER stays in queue more than 3 min. Sometimes it feels like I stay in queue more than him( due to the time of day).
3 This game wanted to go pro but didn't so why should I have to deal with min-max lvl 100 Bob when I just came from work and want to play a game and potentially win.
This is 1 incident so it is not proof but still out of 20 games in a day I won 2 by pure luck. My MMR should have been in the ground but killer had a constant level or 30+ with perks from other killer meaning that most killers have excessive amount of time in the game. Why should I go against them. I play casual like the majority of DBD players (according to BHVR themselves). So the point is a skill cap should be in the game but if you are way to good you should wait way more than me because at the end of the day who is more prone to quitting the game? Me that plays casually and start to hate the game or the "pro" that spends the majority of his time on the game. To add a bit more the majority of players are casuals or new players so having a frustrating game/s makes you want to quit faster.

Taking into account the fact that this game is so old at this point streamers should be an afterthought . Sure they used to bring players in but after a game is out for so long, do you really believe that's what brings the majority of new players? No, the majority of new players are " the kids that grew up", the players that moved from other games to this out of pure curiosity. Make the game to annoying and lose your player base. Lets use the example of the killer that almost killed DBD. Legion. YES Legion. The fun yet somewhat weak killer used to be a terror in the past. WHY? Because his rclick didn't have a downside to hitting the same survivor and he could single out a player and kill them. Why did BHVR change him? Because 1 survivors didn't want to play against him and 2 longer wait for killer since having a "I win button" killer means more want to play him.
Another thing, if the game is so popular why does it have a increase in player count only during an event and outside of that a constant drop? On average they have a high gain during events and then for 3 months or so they have a constant drop. On average what they gain today they lose in 3 months (more or less). So no, streamers are their least of their problems.

A consistent inflow of new people is necessary for a game's long-term survival.
The game bleeds in player count between events because events drive player retention. They don't want the normal 1v4 experience but something to switch it up or bring something new keeps them interested.
Anyway, no. MMR Cap is a good idea, nobody should have to wait 30-60 minutes for a single match of DBD. If you're losing a lot, use those matches as a learning experience. Walk away knowing what mistakes you made and have an idea of how to not make them next time.

You know I can use opposite to extreme too?
By how MMR works, which is flawed, you get MMR as survivor based on escapes. Which simply has to create elo hell, where you get bad teamates, which makes you die more, right?
So I would guess there is way higher number of survivors in low MMR than killers. So if MMR was actually strict, then all new survivors / bad survivors would wait also insane times in queue.
I couldn't care less if I get survivor with 100, or 10 000 hours against me. I just want fast queue times, even current survivor queue times during evening (2-4 minutes) make me think if it is worth it.
If you get it to extreme, if I need to wait in queue basically same duration as game can last, it's not worth it. I am always going to prefer speed of queue times over precision.

Will comment on this, no Legion wasn't changed because Survivors didn't want to play against him, the way his power worked with M2 was changed because it was exploitable, moonwalking legions were a thing, and that was definitely not something that was intended.
Soft Cap for MMR is most definitely required, as it groups up the higher level players - it does not affect the majority of the players who are more in the mid range of MMR.
Matchmaking has a level of strictness in that it groups within a specific range, and that range is actually pretty small and most matches fall within this range easily. What makes it more difficult is when things like lobby dodging happen or at particular hours of the day / night when there's naturally less players playing in specific regions.
Queue times are always going to be something that we have to consider, we saw with 2v8 how it impacted players enjoyment a lot, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to wait longer than how long a trial would take to complete….when we had very rigid old ranks system, it often meant extremely long queue times for the higher ranked players, which was definitely not ideal.

For the lobby dodging issues, has it been discussed whether the lobby itself needs changing? Such as locking the lobby once the pairings are made, or limiting sniffing through profiles etc?

trust me, it isn't just a few players. So many players here really play to win (i have nothing against it in particular btw), but problem comes with the pact that huge part of those players doesn't want better matchmaking for two reasons:
- queue times;
- pubstomping low skill players would be next to impossible because they would finally be constantly put against someone with skill level around theirs.
Idk what is about to happen with MMR update they announced, but i hope it's raising the soft cap as a way to give hard reality check to people.
