I'll keep it simple, Lightborn may be slightly OP but it don't need nerfing.

So been another week of dealing with the usual toxicity especially with the Chaos Shuffle event and SWF groups getting salty and either ragequitting or talking the usual trash they can get past the filter or get away with saying on Twitch.
I am just gonna keep this blunt as it's been brought up several times and many especially killer mains have basically said the same thing. Lightborn may be in need of some changes for the more casual players but because of the other types of players tha abuse certain things in this game ie: the bully squads all equipping Leon's flashbangs or last second flashlight squads. Also that time flashbangs having a bug that made killers crash during like a mori animation and that made them get temporarily removed (some of the best days of DBD) and upset quite a lot of survivors.
So only real argument survivors have about Lightborn is basically "Me and my friends can't harass the killer with our flashlights every time they pick up a survivor till they ragequit, all our gear is useless, this crap needs to be nerfed!" That's pretty much every argument summarized when I hear about nerfs to this perk. An argument I have of my own is pretty much "Well maybe if you equipped yourself more for repairing gens and hiding from the killer instead of trying to fight the killer head on, going against the very principles of this game you wouldn't have been sacrificed." So in other words toxic players mad their "offensive" loadout got countered and couldn't repair gens and escape and now wanting nerfs done to one of the few things that allow killers to counter them.
To solo players who possibly find themselves in one of these groups where you see 2 or the other 3 survivors with flashlights, the thing you should immediately do is have repair perks or a toolbox equipped cause most likely the killer is gonna have Lightborn equipped for obvious reasons and that means the survivors are gonna be more busy harassing and taunting the killer, getting themselves hooked rather than repairing gens so somebody is gonna have to do the hard work. Reason these types of players ruin the game for everyone else.
Overall if the game was not plagued by players trying to fight the killer head on and abuse things like the flashlights and Flashbang or sometimes the Blast Mine perks (wow the Resident Evil chapters really did break this game) than yes Lightborn may be a little overpowered in its current setup of rendering flashlights totally useless and making players waste them, but because of the existence of players and whole squads abusing them and other perks to stun or blind the killer it's not OP because it's one of the few options killers have to counter this sort of gameplay otherwise you'd have a lot more killers ragequitting and more survivors trying to use these types of toxic methods which could also lead to gens not getting done and matches taking much longer or possibly everyone getting sacrificed because their flashlights ran out harassing the killer and now have nothing to fend of the killer why you still have maybe 3 or 4 gens left to repair.

Don't anyone DARE to touch our Lord and Savior Lightborn.
Its glory is a blessing for us all and above any and all criticism.
The only course to take is to bask in the comfort of the shades it is offering to us poor souls.

I am … much confusion on this thread.
OP? Lightborn?
What?
Who says lightborne needs any changes? What for?
I am confusion.
This is like a run of the mil basic perk that doesn't do anything obscene … and doesnt really have anything strong about…
Yea whos complaining about this perk?
Abuse flashlights? Abusing perks?
Much question mark.1 -
Flashbangs have been dead silent and can blind around walls while the killer is looking up for over a year after 3 supposed fixes that did precisely nothing
Until those blasted things are actually fixed, Lightborn is never leaving my loadouts
3 -
Lightborn is a QOL comfort perk, if someone is upset they can't use their toys, they can remain upset for the remainder of that trial and move on in the next one.
Not that it needs saying though, but Lightborn is far from OP. The majority of times in which a killer can be blinded, is simply due to them being too lazy/forgetful to look at a wall. Or that they didnt hear/see the survivor following them for the past [Chase Time] seconds. Bugs aside, accountability must be held on the killers part (myself most certainly included).

It's no wonder why Flashbang is the obvious pick. People want to go for blinds. If Lightborn got nerfed or Flashlights got buffed you would see a difference in so called Genrush and less dependence on Flashbangs.

Lightborn isn't OP, lol. Good grief.
Regarding flashlights, the counterplay is pretty effective like 99% of the time once you get it down. I have conditioned myself to the point that I approach every single pickup as if a save attempt is incoming, even if I haven't seen a flashlight. And I think maybe 1 out of every 50 or so save attempts actually gets me. That's because flashlights are actually really weak, and I love to see them in the lobby as I know the survs are gonna waste a ton of time trying to get saves.
Current Flashbangs are another story since you can't see them in the lobby like a flashlight, and sound (or lack thereof) is an issue. But not bothersome to the point that I feel compelled to run Lightborn.
Someone in this thread compared Lightborn to Distortion, but I disagree. Lightborn doesn't do much that you can't accomplish yourself via mindful gameplay (neutering flashlights). Distortion
hashad an effect that can't be approximated.Full disclosure: I will on rare occasion run it against a flashlight team, but not because I fear the flashlights, but because I am feeling like a scamp and like to pretend I don't have it (putting my face in walls, looking up, faking pick ups, strategically picking up, etc.) and then in some crucial moment "carelessly" pick up in the open just to have the resultant would be save fail and leave the surv hung out to dry.
The idea that they think they are about to make a game saving play just to have it backfire tickles me.

Lightborn is not OP. If anything, it can be a little weak. It's good if the squad is running flashlights and blast mines, but if they aren't, you just wasted a perk slot that could've been used for something more useful, like BBQ.

Lightborn under no circumstances should be touched. It's in a perfect place. An entire perk slot is being used for it, so killers need to get full value from the perk. It's not even Meta.

Will never get the crusade against this perk. One entire perk slot spent into denying a single item. One perk slot that could have been occupied by much more annoying stuff. Spent in a perk for something that most times can simply be achieved by picking up staring at a wall. I wish more killers ran Lightborn actually, lol.

It's weird that this is even being discussed. Lightborn is extremely niche. If a killer suspects they have a bully squad on their hands, it can be a decent QOL choice. But against a bully squad using flashlights and sabos, slugging is probably plenty to get done with the annoying match and walk into the post-game chat with a 4k.
Against talented survivors, Lightborn can deny flashbangs (e.g. from locker-hop/flashbang combos).
The role of Lightborn is mostly just to prevent the most annoying playstyle survivors can bring. To some extent, complaining about Lightborn feels like when killers complain about OTR or DS. Those latter perks mostly only matter if the killer has been tricked into chasing a survivor who has them, and are meant to prevent obnoxious killer playstyles. Both Lightborn and these things aren't a big deal, and usually just take up a perk slot that would be better used on something else.

Yeah what is this reasoning.
You hate lightborn cause of a tunneler?
Lightborn is the killer version of distortion?
I…. I dont even know where to start here.
Ill just say no.0 -
We said the same if distortion since aura reading give killers unfair advantages and no matter what we say killers was not having any of it and make excuse like it cause me to tunnel mor eand all that baloney as if tunneling was not always a thing even during strong gen kick meta.
My and I Swf used distortion properly, we all parts as a team but ty to solo q who used the perk wrong. Swf suffered a good perk cause of soloq. Know how funny it is when a blight/huntress DC cause of all 4 o us had it and they got denied a free early chase? It was nice also to work out important gens to avoid 3 gen or being forced off by some high mobility killer only to have it pop and res destroyed all that progress?
As I said lightborn is a killers distortion robbing survivors of defending themselves in chase or even saving someone being tunneled and its not right its infinite. A killer cant fully stop a sabotage as easily unless they have mad grit build and even that don't fully stop sabotage.
I can even take it far to say plague need a rework, her ability to make all heal perk and medkit useless its annoying and maybe that's why killers lost the ability to last second change their killer.

Whatever average killer bias as all, if lightbornn can deny an entire blind perks and rob a survivor defense, the same can said distortion should be allowed to deny all the crutches free hand holding call Aura reading for everything survivors do. Lightborn needs a token treatment end of story

Dang now Im killer biased I was told yesterday I was a survivor main that just complains when I defend the state of soloQ.
I just cant seem to win.0 -
Leave lightborn alone. Getting a down should be a relief. I don't need picking up in the open to be more stressful than the chase itself.

Yeah, people saying that distortion caused them to tunnel definitely were just making excuses so they can tunnel. Frequent aura reading on Blight/Nurse is very strong, and distortion is a reasonable counter to it. Nurse sees you behind a wall and just teleports to hit you, countering her only real weakness. So Distortion never seemed like a problem to me.
Personally, I usually won't run more than BBQ or maybe Nurse's Calling on special builds. And if I don't see a specific aura, I assume the survivor either jumped in a locker before I hooked or took up a perk slot so I can't see them. No big deal; I'll go find someone. I really can't understand relying on tunneling or proxy camping as strategies. I'm not going to ruin someone's game just so I can perform against survivors beyond my skill level.
Most times I ever ran Lightborn, I wished I had a different perk instead. But you're right that flashlights and flashbangs are valid tactics to stop tunneling. Maybe in that sense, Lightborn should have counters that are replenished by not tunneling or camping? Like you start with some number and then get one or two Lightborn counters for getting away from the hook, and maybe an extra counter for having survivors within some radius upon hooking to account for swarming that's common in bully squads?

Lightborn is as OP as walls are.
