Are survivors supposed to have fun in this game anymore?
There are many posts about how busted new killer is. In PTB there were posts that his power is too much, yet still he received additional buffs.
Let's just see some materials:
It's funny seeing killer mains here defending him and telling that "survivors just need to find counterplay", yet they can't provide any.
Am I supposed to have fun playing against this killer or am I supposed to be in this game just for a killer's entertainment?

Almost every killer seems too strong at the beginning. You need to learn to play against him first. I also needed two matches to adjust and people with less than 4k hours need probably more. Now im looping with no problem and even pull aggro with object of obsession to get more chases.
14 -
He’s been out for less then 2 days, give him time to settle
Honestly I do feel like people overblow how strong Kaneki is, he’s good, and definitely the most fun killer they’ve released in a while, but S tier, let alone Nurse levels? Absolutely not
-3 -
Dude, he just released. Billy, as an example. He ran without much change for over half a year. Nobody complained much until the last few months before he was nerfed. Even after nerf he didn't get weaker, and survivors also have little fun playing against good Billy. Against Blight Nurce and wesker, you can't just play Shift+w, also S tier nerf please?
This guy has better mobility, but still can't play around loops with his ability. Therefore, your post doesn't make sense. Please argue why kaneki is such a terrible killer to play against!
Kaneki has 40m terror radius like Blight, wesker and billy. You don't think he's their equal and they gave him that terror radius for a reason? He is lethal so u need think twice to leave the loop and possible get downed or make him waste time chasing you around loop where he cant use his power too often?
I know ultimatum counterplay, just stealth.(Until someone figure out how 2 counter kaneki, or until devs will nerf him because people like you who can not properly argue their complaint) (No offence)

Billy can turn 90-110+- degrees while isnt in overdrive, so he can turn, his ability is the same as Kaneki's, and his strength is that he can be anywhere and everywhere and put em down in one hit with a chainsaw if you're not careful. Kaneki same thing, can be countered just by basic looping. Until u have to shift+W.

I'm not convinced that the killer is fully working correctly. People saying they're getting hit through walls seems like a bug more than an intended interaction, and any bugs should be fixed.
Though I do find it interesting that there's a huge discrepancy with skill floor and counter play. With this killer, it's survivors struggling right away, which tells me it's easier to just blindly pick up the killer and play them than it is to counter them early on. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.
But when brought up, you get the same responses as in this thread: "git gud".
Yet when it's was the other way around, for, say, singularity, the killer wasn't as straightforward to pick up immediately for killers and the counter for survivors was easy, people burned down the forums calling for nerfs. I think the EMP nerf was justified, but I also think there should be some counter play for characters.
Line of sight, pallets, vaults, or items are the most common counters, but this killer doesn't appear to have any specific weakness. Now, if getting hit through walls is truly a bug that needs fixing, then maybe we can talk about line of sight/cornering counters. But that also means that the bugged version of the killer is also not currently counterable as intended either.

What do you do against Billy? You use your environment / jukes to outplay his instadown. He also has respectable cooldowns to counter his catch up ability. Billy is strong but fair.
Looking at the clips posted and what ive experienced myself, this is, and im sorry, not fair. In many situations there is not survivor agency at all. Not when getting injured or when getting downed.
12 -
is Kaneki too strong? Yes. Should he be nerfed? Yes.
But for god's sake, stop with this "can surv have fun anymore" because every time an overtuned surv perk arrives every surv player is like "omg let's have some fun with this perk before it gets nerfed", but as soon as overtuned killer drops (and eventually gets nerfed to the point of being balanced), yall start acting like "survivor side can't have anything".
It really looks like the "me using broken stuff = fun; my opponent using broken stuff = not fun" statement is more real than ever
-24 -
Which buffs did he receive from ptb to live? I thought were non.
1 -
Survivors are supposed to be happy this patch with better scratch marks and 5 less seconds on cool down for Quick and Quiet! Literally all we got. Aren't we used to this? Everything centered and catered around killers?
9 -
Go off king, tell em.
7 -
you must’ve just started playing during Covid because it was not always like this.
-10 -
no no but we cant have killers being the power role in the asymetrical 1v4 game!
-14 -
ghoul is so op, it must be nerfed, is so boring playing versus
1 -
His slide add ons being base kit.
11 -
No, survivors are not having fun and the devs DO NOT CARE! It's truly sad how poorly they are treating 80% of their player base.
I know bp incentives vary by location and time of day/night, but does anyone see killer incentives anymore? Weekends used to always be killer incentive until around 1 am. This past weekend, ending or starting spring break for most people and nothing but survivor bonus. This bp bonus has been this way for a while now too, but I thought spring break might cause it to revert back, but nope. Survivors are leaving or switching to killer.
They did nothing but buff killers this patch, but don't worry survivors. In the next year, survivors are supposed to get some quality of life changes... I'm sure it's some sort of die faster mechanics which are really for the killers, but they will call it antislug and dress it up like it's for survivors, but Killers will easily counter it rendering the whole thing a joke.
I know 2v8 is a little different, but their solution to survivors not playing was bots... let that sink in. They don't give a crap about survivor fun. They are fine with survivors leaving, because they can just replace them with bots... this is the future of dbd.
5 -
Kind of a silly argument to make, considering you're ignoring the fact that his power only injures and is non-lethal. Like, of course it's going to be easy to land hits with it, he has to play the injured state as an M1 killer with catchup mechanics.
He's just Legion with more of a focus on mobility at the expense of Injury efficiency.

I think getting rid of the hitting through objects and walls should help. I think outside of that they shouldn’t touch him for at least two months. People need time to adjust, and people need time to learn him more before any real calls can be made imo. 60 day minimum outside of unintended working through technical difficulties bugs.
Because I imagine a lot of the bugs for the hits are coming from trying to allow people to grapple assets, and that’s probably a difficult line of code to write where one doesn’t effect the other if the grapple to survivors is what’s causing it. Thinking about trying to write that makes me want to bang my head against a wall and I don’t even work for them. I hope they can work it out so both sides can be happy, but yeah that’s probably a tough one to code tbh.
I don’t envy the team on this issue. I guess just try not to hit people through walls just because you can and give BHVR more time to try and sort it? Otherwise I, from the outside looking in can see grappling getting nerfed “feature/bug” or not. That’s my penny I guess.
I can be totally wrong, but as someone that has to figure out “why” and “how” at my job, I can see the correlation between the two if they’re built off the same function. They can try renaming/splitting them up if possible for the action for either grappling to assets or grappling to survivors(tbh idk how it’s strung im just using those naming conventions as place holders) so that you can trick the software into differentiating the two through separation, but it could break it or fix it. Probably break then fix, gotta love ctrl+s. Idk what they’re using but like if I had to ballpark somewhere in there, maybe? I’m not a genius, I’m just a pioneer personality type and sometimes the intuition pays off and I can’t explain it, I’m just spitballing an idea that -might- work.
Best of luck fellow foggarians and best wishes BHVR. Thank you for the bunny yui skin, I’m currently maining her when I’m not burning cake or bps. I know she would of fit super well with legion but I love it for yui🤘Sorry if this reads weird I’m just thinking out loud based off the feedback and sometimes the most out of pocket things work for me, maybe it will for you. Try it or don’t, they’re just thoughts. Most likely grapple functions are tied together, and separating the grapples-might-fix it. I can be totally wrong, but that would be my number one suspect. I mean no harm, just trying to help, all hail the entity.

A whole lot of survivors who never play killer comment on his strength. He is very good, NOT overpowered. I literally looped 3 of them yesterday for 2+ minutes.
What’s there not to understand? He’s literally exactly like legion. He is an M1 killer with a catch up power but can’t down with power like blight. His fatigue recovery is faster than legion.
What’s his counter? Uh idk looping? He will absolutely flatline you if you run out in the open and W key so maybe don’t do that? Stick to loops and chain them together, it’s simple.
But keep it up, the Devs cater to survivors anyways so he will be nerfed if you guys keep asking for it!
-10 -
"just started playing" as if 2016-2020 is a longer time period than 2020-2025
14 -
From watching gameplay, he does seem a little too strong.
There really isn't any sort of counter-play when you are healthy. He's going to get the hit and there's nothing you can do about it.
He also prevents greeding pallets, so pallets get thrown quickly against him, meaning certain low pallet count maps are auto-loss.
8 -
nah we are only here for the killers to show of their winning streaks
5 -
Let's leave the killer v survivor talk aside for a second because I want to give your point of view the benefit of the doubt even though it comes across as biased, so let me share what I have seen. In general I've had about a 50% escape rate against the ghoul and have had some fun and engaging chases against this killer, no "nice" killers as of yet so the escapes have all been earned. The other 50% of the time the team loses usually due to DCs, and tantrums from survivors who go next on hook on purpose after dropping every pallet in the map. Some of those times (not all) the team would have won with 3 or even 4-man escapes if we hadn't been deprived a bot.
Basically what I have seen is that survivors that go next and leave the team without a bot can be more detrimental to a team than an OP killer who camps and slugs, to be fair the free hit register and hitbox needs to be tweaked imo since the ghoul seems to have something like a 270 degree hit register, however he's not undodgeable and as I said if you have a team that actually tries during the match you can get a 2-man out with simple effort and 3-man with a bit more effort. 4-man outs can be difficult but by design they are and SHOULD be difficult
-6 -
Honestly, my first game as survivor against him was fun. I looped kaneki for 2 gens and then got tunneled lol. But while I was looping him, all I had to do was get in a position where I could prevent his tentacle things from grabbing me. As long as you have cover, you're fine. But to be fair this was my first and only game against him so far so I might just be wrong about all this.
1 -
I rarely if ever see them in US east coast and its been that way all of 2024 to today, maybe like once in a week in an entire month and by about 30mins its back on survivor lol 2 v 8 also indicates this as well. Shows that survivor is lesser played.
Early day time it takes like 10mins for me to get a killer match while survivor about 30 seconds or less. Even in late hours killer queue seem bad. Vant wait for the new qols where I do not jave to be force to play killer for faily ritual. I refuse to play spmething like spirit yuckm
-2 -
the problem is that the game is rotten at its core.
If survivors only objective is to sit on 5 gens and then open the gates, and that could be done in 3 minutes, the killer needs to stop that. That's what makes killers slug, tunnerl, and camp.
The power level of a killer has nothing to do with survivors having or not fun. It's day 1 only, and people are complaining because they havent found a way to counterplay a killer they have faced like 3 times... The only thing survivors want is to sit on their gens uninterrupted for 3 minutes and leave, and everything that stops that means not having fun for them, which is just a symptom of thr rotten core of the game.
-10 -
Even killer mains might not immediately be able to suss out what his counters are. They're players too, you know, human. The problem with the criticism against him is sort of reflected in this post. You don't give any details about what makes him OP, or what skill level is required to use him to great effect, or how reliable he is in stopping survivors before 5 gens are done regardless of how well he does in chase. I haven't bought the killer, because to me it seems like there's nothing there. He's got mobility, somewhat easy injuring power, and then is M1 for the down. We already have a killer like that: Legion. Legion is purely complained about because he is noob stomp, because survivors MUST have those 2 health states against an M1 killer, or I guess they just "can't do anything."
These killers can't do anything against good survivors, because they simply get looped. How are you gonna stop 4 minute/5 gens, heck, even 8 minute/gens against them? There's no out-skilling survivors there, because the killer's abilities are limited. Kaneki seems like one of the most bare bones, most limited killers in terms of what he can do that we've had in a long time. He makes Houndmaster look complex. And you're telling me that killers defending his mediocre state is defending like this really strong killer? Whatever. Now I definitely won't buy him, because he's weak now, and then will be nerfed further due to popular complaint (no matter how vapid the criticism), just like Chucky, just like Nemesis, just like Deathslinger.
-10 -
I tend to agree. I’ve been out of town for vacation so I haven’t played against him yet, but many other killers have been complained about to be “OP” upon release but were then fine or even too weak later once survivors learned to play against them. I’ll reserve my judgment until I have some time to play against him.

My biggest complaint is that Kaneki seems like a perfect killer for 2021 map dbd.
Haddonfield and new cornwind though seem like misery with how sparse things are.
5 -
They got 2 buffs this patch instead of 7. Don't act like all the other patches haven't been survivors eating well.
-9 -
killer incentive always goes away when new killers are released. This is nothing new. Give it a couple weeks and it will go back to normal, which is survivor incentive during the day and killer incentive during evenings when a lot of people are playing SWF.
1 -
Yeah, there's just nothing in his gameplay that seems super strong. I could have come up with this design in 5 minutes. But you know survivors. Can't even loop an M1 killer, they complain about high mobility or easy-injure killers, until they've moved the goal post so far that we're back to talking about even M1 killers being "too strong." It's why Freddy was nerfed way back when. A teleport, and a pinch of slowdown, and survivors just "can't do anything" against an M1.
-11 -
I fell in love with this game when it was more like hide and seek. Now it’s just looping killer slasher. Maybe I will try it after kb mouse for console release, but now it is pointless
9 -
Legion gets free injuries with no counterplay. I’m sure you know that. It’s perfectly fine. And he absolutely does not prevent freezing pallets at most loops. He has to slide through and even with a short recovery they can still make it around.
-17 -
THIS RIGHT HERE IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL!!
8 -
He can play around a good portion of pallets/windows, including Shack, and get downs. In the case that he can't, he breaks the pallet and is instantly caught up.
Closest thing to him is probably an easier to hit Alc Ring Blight. The correct counterplay is to drop the pallet, but he is not really slowed down by it at all.
Anyone saying he isn't at the top of A-tier is lying, imo. He is absurdly strong.
14 -
I love all the people comparing him to Legion, because Legion is famous for being able to injure you by looking at you and then rocket themselves to your position for a flying M1 down before you even reach a tile.
People figured out how to do that on Day 1, are we just pretending that Ghoul players are only W-ing around the map and there's no mobility in his power?
6 -
Frankly, I feel it's far easier to play survivor than before. We've gotten a load of basekit stuff. Borrowed time, immune to hook grabs, have an anti camp meter, faster mend times, we last longer on hooks now which gives more save time and more time on gens, killers are limited to 8 gen regressions per gen, and almost every survivor that comes out has some way to fast track gen progress even faster than they already are. I'd say survivors are eatin' easy as long as those survivors know how to loop. If not, it's trouble, but thats part of the game...you need to know how to run the killer. If you don't, your team will absolutely fail.
For transparency, I play 60% killer and 40% survivor (solo queue). I was nearing a p100 survivor, but then ma boi Alan Wake dropped. Working towards p100 on him now...in the p60's at the moment. I also have a p100 ghostie.
-8 -
Oh but when a click sabo/head on squad or competent solo q survivors refuse to do gens and mess around like using sabo/headon/ flash saves its cried bully squad dont wanna do gens. Killers are never satisfied either way.
-3 -
Yeah but Legion doesn't have ridiculous map mobility with almost 0 cooldown between its use and the ability to attack
11 -
I haven't seen killer bp bonus for more than 30 minutes in the last few weeks. I even stated that this past weekend it was nothing but survivor bonus. No new killer. Suvivor/swf numbers should have been higher due to spring break, and it has consistently been survivor bonus. It's not at problematic numbers yet, but it's concerning to see fewer and fewer survivors...
2 -
Before the new killer was released, I didn’t see any noticeable change in the queue time patterns. I play US eastern time zone. Daytime hours had very short survivor queues, evening hours had very short killer queues. Definitely did not seem like there was any change in the normal killer-to-survivor ratios.
0 -
Top of A Tier and absurdly strong don’t work together. He is A tier but not S for sure. Alc Ring Blight is way more Lethal because he can down with power.
Again Kaneki is lethal if you’re in a dead zone or tiles are very far apart which is rare. If you have tiles chained together he can be pretty bad. He’s literally a better legion who has to end chases the same way.
I’ll chalk it up to noobs not understanding how to counter him yet but I’m a bad survivor and have been able to loop them very easily. But realistically I know survivors don’t have to like trying at all to loop a killer. If it was up to them Kaneki would have a 20 second fatigue and move at 5% for the next 45 seconds lmao.
-8 -
Hillbilly does and he’s an insta down killer.
-6 -
Hillbilly has more startup, more cooldown, and can barely turn.
9 -
You just compared him to Legion, why are you out of the blue comparing him to Hillbilly? Yeah I suppose he does, but the thing that makes those two killers not completely busted is the fact that they are two separate killers.
11 -
What?
Spirit and Blight are A-tier? Are they not absurdly strong? S-tier is just Nurse and PTB Twins.
He's possibly pushing into S-tier at his best.
All you've done here is say a whole bunch of whataboutism's and have tried to say "Actsually, he's not very gud and needs buffs becuz like Leg he can't down."
He cannot down directly with his power, he can still get downs because of his power. Not sure how to break it down any easier for you.
17 -
He literally hits me around loops and over pallets literally marking me through walls and solid objects repeatedly, either this is a huge bug or he's way the heck too over powered especially considering he can mark from a mile away where literally no other killer can hit me, take that away and I think he's fine
12 -
I'm a killer main and even I have come to the conclusion ghoul is op. Spent 2 nights having non stop ghoul matches as survivor and as I have been learning to counter some, others have been learning to make him more op with certain perks and generally getting better at playing the killer which makes it worse being soloq.
im going to wait until the new killer rush is over, 2 nights playing against the same 1 killer over and over is getting boring fast. Hopefully the variety will return. It wasn't this bad with hound master.
7 -
Look, I believe that would should be allowed to have our own opinions but is it really necessary to attack a company with questions of "do you even want us to have fun?" when it's just a simple mistake, I'm sure that the ghoul will be rebalanced at a later point but currently complaining isn't going to do anything, especially when he just came out.
