Lich, Sadako and Dredge. The noob stompers of dead by daylight. What could be done?
Lich, Sadako and Dredge are all incredible killers to play as, but are all weak. Despite this their kill rates are very high, due to them noob stomping.
This is a problem that is very difficult to fix, as they do not need nerfs, in fact they need buffs. They need changes that affect them in similar ways to the reduced auto aim for ghoul. Drastically increase their skill floor but make them stronger in high mmr.
I want to compile the best changes commented to them and make another post with what could be done to them.
Problems I see with them: (all problems lead to the bigger problem of new survivors being brainless and bad):
Dredge: new survivors get scared and hide during nightfall.
Sadako: new survivors don’t know to pick up tapes
Lich: new survivors don’t know to pick up items
What could be done?

The Lich is definitely not weak, most people just don't know how to use his spells correctly. But regarding Sadako and Dredge I agree.

When saying weak i mean high mmr standards, in which even his correct usage is.

Tier list debates aside, the simple truth is survivors have no reliable way to practice the fundamentals. There are 39 killers, each with their own counterplay, over 250 perks to learn, and 39 maps. Whether you think survivors or killers are stronger, the reality is that survivor has become an increasingly knowledge-heavy role with no tools to actually learn. It is trial by fire every time. It's not always a skill-issue, I think many times it's more of a skill gap, with no resoureces/tools to close it. Survivors would benefit greatly from a practice mode in the same way Killers already have one. Custom bot matches, where you can control every detail down to the items, perks, maps, ect. The list gets bigger and bigger with every new addition, which means the gap gets wider, and the pile of knowledge required to be competent increases—without even considering the amount of time/practice you have to do in order to utilize that knowledge you have.

A good tutorial, for one. People don't know what these killers do and there is nothing in-game to explain, aside a small hint before the match that appears sometimes.

I feel like it boils down to killer AI being hard to program well, if Snug is anything to go by.
That's the only reason why there are no ways to practice in custom games.

Each killer has a literal wall of text explaining their ability.

I think the trick to this solution is buffs that require skill to take advantage of. So low mmr killer players won’t be utilizing it, meaning they will be mostly unaffected. This means it can’t be just raw number buffs that would affect everyone equally. Now this said, almost anything is going to affect the lowers at least “some”.
For Sadako I’d do tape destruction on hit, no condemn gain from this though. The low mmr survivors don’t understand taking a tape in the first place so if they’ve already got one they understand what they have to do already. The ones not knowing to grab a tape are unaffected. Also requires the low mmr killer to actually be good at their m1 play with basically no anti loop to be able to take advantage of this.
Dredge just needs more/better locker placement. I don’t think this would affect lower mmr that much. Either make more lockers spawn when it’s dredge, maybe teleporting to chests, maybe make additional special lockers spawn anywhere Onryo TVs spawn.
I do think Vecna is weaker than people act like and could use buffs but I’m not experienced enough with him to give a good opinion here.-1 -
…which you can't access unless you pay for that killer.

Dead by Daylight already has a lovely system that displays "tips" while loading, however most of these tips are vague and unhelpful. I think it would be better to see these tips get updated to be super helpful instead.
Also I keep seeing tutorials being suggested, first of all, nobody willingly want to play a game where you need a tutorial to play it and second of all, it takes way way way more time from the developer to make than it actually helps.

Do you really think the majority of players would use a practice explain mode? I doubt it. There is nothing more annoying in games than having to play a tutorial. Sure you greatly benefit from them (if the tutorial is well done), but in reality none cares about playing them.

I do think they had killer bots during DC for 2v8.
I don’t expect them to be perfect. Survivor bots are a good example of that. But having something is better than nothing. The game is already very unfriendly to beginner players, and it gets more and more bloated and difficult with every new perk/killer. As it stands right now it’s like trying to study an exam at the same time you’re taking it, and the test changes a little more every time. It’s not consistent enough for substantial growth unless it’s over literal thousands of hours of time. I understand it would be a lot to program, but I think the effort is worth it.

As a Dredge main, the only change I need are some additional freaking lockers that are actually near generators. 🥴

…what? I get lich and sadako, but dredge? It's my impression that noobs play against each other, and noob dredges don't stomp, they GET stomped

I think even a potentially underutilized tool doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. There are some people that get great uses out of certain perks than others, but that doesn’t mean those perks aren’t worth putting in the game.
When it comes to the tutorial, I feel many people have voiced/acknowledged how bare bones the tutorial is, and how it should be relooked at because it doesn’t actually explain what it should. Having a simple message at the end of the basic tutorial explaining if you’re having trouble with any killer, or survivor perks, to be made aware of the ability to practice in custom bot matches I don’t feel would be very invasive. Including a killer bot for custom matches would only be providing the same kind of resource already provided for the other role. It’s not bringing in a new concept, only providing equal access.1 -
I would love to be able to go against a specific killer in Customs so just help me practice a little bit against them. That would be fun.

Nope! The nightfall makes noobs hide in fear. 65% kill rate in low mmr.

What would you guys think of a system working like this: ( one or the other)
1- After the first match of a survivor or killer playing as/against a specific killer, they are forced into an unskipable video on the specifics of how to play as/ against said killer. The videos will also be available to see in the tutorials section.
2- a little ai crow will follow you around in your first match of a survivor or killer playing as/against a specific killer. They will give you tips as you play.
I am more inclined towards the first one, what do you guys think? How could this be made better (did I miss anything)

Dredge definitely needs help, that's for sure, his power is good, however, his chase lethality is kinda lacking as he's a basic m1 killer with a traversal power that can be prevented for a short bit

any opinions??
