It's Not A Fear Of Change, The New Rarity Colors are Objectively Bad

This is not a Animation Update situation where players just hate change, this is an objective detriment to DbD's game accessibility.

I'm not touching any new ground here when I say I don't like the new Rarity color changes (removing Yellow and adding Blue). Part of that could be an unwillingness to change, but the issue is much deeper.

*Main suggestion* : Revert the changes to rarity colors.

Or give us a toggle to switch between the new and old colors if you're set on keeping the current ones in some form. Otherwise, if that's difficult to implement, please listen to the reasoning below as to why I think this should be reversed entirely:

  1. The History

This point specifically refers to how the old Rarity colors have been used in *so many* tutorial videos, that now, when new players watch them and they see "the green toolbox is the best one in the game" or "this yellow add-on is good on this Killer", it will make for a very confusing experience.

So, as the bullet point states, there is TOO MUCH history behind these Rarity colors that, now tasking new players with extra homework/ confusing them when they see different colors in older videos seems quite silly to me.

2. Not Color-Blind Friendly

Players who are colorblind have had to rely on external shaders in order to play most maps already, and with this update, they now might have to install custom icons to identify rarities at a glance.

While yes, they can just hover over and read the addon/perk text, or memorize the perk icons, the choice to change the colors from 3 distinguishable to now only 2 (blue and green are similar in tone to Color-Blind folks), it just makes the game more confusing for new Color-Blind players.

The rarity changes will only serve as a detriment to new players looking for tutorial videos and colorblind players who might have a hard time navigating the UI, constantly having to read everything manually to tell what it is instead of easy color identification. (Yellow was a very distinct color, and while Purple and Green were similar, it was a far bigger difference than the now very blue-heavy tones of Green-Blue-Purple)

I hope the devs do something about this, either giving us a toggle for the old color palette, or reversing this change entirely.

They shouldn't put a toggle, they should just fully revert it. The toggle would make any communication cumbersome with awkward clarifications since both systems have green at a different rarity.

At the very least they need to make the blue and purple contrast more

I genuinely don't understand why BHVR would randomly change something that nobody has a problem with while leaving game breaking bugs in.

Yeah, i had lots of people i know and told about the rarity changes ahead of time had the same WHHYYY??? reaction. It was just so unecessary and waste of time. So many better additions needed, probably delayed to implement this rubbish lol.

I've been playing this game for a long time and not once had I ever seen anyone complain about the old colours. I don't know why the devs waste time on changes that nobody wants.

Same can be said about the grade colours too: Red, browny-grey, greyey brown and grey. Not that anyone looks at those any more.
