Make Kindred Basekit to Improve Solo Queue
Solo queue is rough—especially when compared to SWF. The biggest issue? Lack of information. SWF players have voice chat to coordinate everything. Solo players have silence.
A simple fix: make Kindred’s aura-sharing basekit.
Why This Helps:
- Shows who's saving and where the killer is during a hook.
- Greatly improves team coordination without needing voice chat.
- Frees up a perk slot for solo players who feel forced to run info perks.
- Doesn’t hurt killer balance—just gives solo players what SWF already shares over Discord.
The Result:
✅ Fewer duplicate saves
✅ Smarter unhooks
✅ Better gen pressure
✅ More fair and enjoyable solo queue experience
Kindred basekit won’t break the game — but it will fix one of the most frustrating gaps in DBD. Please consider it seriously. This one change could massively improve solo queue quality of life.
(Also, while we’re at it — MMR still needs work. Even just giving us the option to make visible ranks return (with it off by default) would go a long way toward helping players understand their matches and progress.)

Might agree on that one. I always feel bad for someone going second stage while I'm chasing one survivor and those two greed gens. It would be so ez to get that survivor out of game at 4-3 gens left, because his teammates do "gens before friends" strategy.

I don't think killer part of the perk should become basekit, but I would like survivor aura reading of kindred basekit.
Killer part basekit would be devastating for some killers. It would be just bad, if survivors could always prerun/hide when you try to leave hook for gens.
If you want it as "anti camping", then it should start working like 10 seconds after survivor is hooked and not if killer is in chase.5 -
if survivors could always prerun/hide when you try to leave hook for gens.
Why are you ok when this happens in a SWF, though (via callouts)? Solo queue players are just asking for parity. You are 100% facing this already, in case that affects your opinion…

It doesn't always happen even with good SWF. Especially when survivor is in second stage and get locked in animation. You can also break LoS quite often. That's something you can play around, not really when everyone can directly see your aura.
Also SWF are not majority of playerbase, yet alone SWF who actually make callouts.
I definetly face this in few games, but that's very far from this happening every time I hook a survivor.
Every game I play as soloQ/duo I play with Kindred, so I am fully aware how strong killer aura reading is and it would be absolutely broken basekit.-2 -
It would be way too strong. They should show the auras of other Survivors to everyone when someone is hooked, but not the Killer's aura when near hook.

I really feel like basekit perks are a lazy solution to things. What the game needs is some kind of ping system.

Just make the anti-camp visible to all survivors DBD has no consideration to SOLO Q

It'd be a good start. Eventually we'd need better matchmaking and comms too.

I mostly - or basically solely - play solo q and I can agree.
There is an unhealthy amount of situations that end in chaos or are a huge disadvantage which SWFs avoid by their communication.
It happens too often that you aren't sure if another team member goes for the unhook or not and it is really annoying. Especially when you are insecure about the situation and start running and when you are almost there, the person gets unhooked.
With you then standing there, thinking "well, I could have used these wasted seconds now for finishing my gen/a heal/whatever".
Plus with the new afk system you get punished on top for running around "useless".

that won't help i run kindred and people still are incompetent

Didn't even read the post, but I'm all for it

I get where you're coming from
I get where you're coming from, so I think the killer's aura part should be exclusively to the Kindred perk. But I do think that it >could< be buffed to 20 meters of aura reading, since part of its effect would be already basekit

if people used the hud more survivors would be way better because i actually pay attention to it and it gives a ton of information
3 -
Unneeded. Survivors need to learn to use the HUD and develop game sense.

So the way in soloQ I determine if I should run to a person is, if I can see the HUD that says they are on a Gen.
I believe this is the intended way… is it good? uhm not really. but it isnt much better on comms.Thinking about it, the only place I see where comms are better than HUD is when someone is being chases and it has not started a chase yet, so nobody knows it is happening.
-1 -
Oh so it also gives the information about the case I mentioned then. Nice, thanks for the tip.
NO IT DOES NOT.
-1 -
so you don't read the HUD then
if 1 person is hooked and 1 is getting chased and 2 are on gens of one of you gets of the other stays on a gen or alternatively
if 1 is hooked and 3 are on gens depending on the hook state stay on the gen till someone gets chased and look at the hud
the hud gives you a ton of information except their exact location when ran with kindred gives swf level of information
