Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Will the repair speed bonus from the Tunneling Reduction changes stack?

I just got done reading the August developer update and just had a question about the repair speed bonus that'll be granted to survivors if one dies before the killer gets 6 hooks. I hope a dev can answer this.

EXAMPLE
Let's say Survivor 1 gets downed after being hooked twice before any other survivor has been hooked even once, then the killer Mori's them because they brought an Ebony Memento Mori. That should trigger the repair speed buff because a survivor died with the killer only having gotten 2 hooks. After this, the killer hooks survivor 2 twice before hooking the other two and Mori's them too.

Would that give the remaining 2 survivors and additional speed boost if they still have gens left at this point since a second survivor has died while the killer only has 4 hooks; or would the Mori's count as a hook state, so the remaining two survivors just have the original repair boost?

This question also extends to Onryo players who just teleport around until someone get's fully condemned, Executioner players who tunnel and manage to kill 2 survivors with final judgement without hooking the other two survivors, and Shape players if Judith's Tombstone and Tombstone piece keep their effects after the rework since he's basically getting base-kit Tombstone but with the restrictions of Memento Mori's

Yeah i pretty sure this will stack and will be abused by swfs. My massive concern is Survivors purpously getting themselves killed to get this bonus. And tbh this won't do anything with Slugging and Tunneling it's only gonna increase it and i have a deep feeling Killers will be penalties for Tunneling and Slugging.

But to answer the question yes. I think it will stack and I think that means toolboxes and Gen Rush perks will be more effective and will make more issues for Killer.

We will lose killer players very fast

Uhm do you not know how players work. They abuse everything. I've known that for years. If anything is game breaking they will use and abuse it.

I doubt it does but IF it does, by the time any stacking would be in play you're down to 2 survivors. Kill 1 more and it's a hatch game - you're not losing.

Yeah most of the time when its not a swf the remaining 2 are left with what 2 to 3 gens and they hide because they cant finish the match.

If the killer tunnels that is.

I wont mind it stacking againts a hardcore tunneler that just only has one goal and it is to wipe the person that got unhooked, wont even go break gen or injure others around him.

Im pretty sure this effect wont go in motion due to survivors self sabotage on hook, and not being saved when there has been only 2 or 4 hook states or 3 even.

As long as there has been a literal 2 unique hook states this effect shouldnt concern majority of killers.

Im 100% sure this will be clarified that it cant be abused by swfs and probably be taken down a notch to 4 unique hook states to match pain res, grim embrace

I feel fairly confident that letting people die or go second stage isn't going to punish the killer. Which, unfortunately, means hook camping might be moved up to the number one spot for trash tactics. Then that will need addressing.

Yeah face camping needs to be expanded to be more of radius based but thats alright

Ill take that if they self sabotage

Probably the same mindset that thinks people are losing on purpose to inflate kill rates to get killers nerfed.

As to the repair speed in the post, it would have to be absolutely ludicrous to offset the loss of one players action economy in an actual match. Like, 100% would still not be enough in a 3v1 scenario, and there's no chance they come anywhere close to that with this feature.

Well if you kill urself to the killer before 6 hooks you will give ur team a permanent Repair speed bonus which will stack with Gen Rushing Builds btw to finish the Gens Way Faster.

There are multiple issues that the 6 hook state requirement will make.

Like if someone is AFK. You as the Killer are supposed to now leave them alone before you will be punished for killing them.

Survivors can us the exact same survivor and outfit to confuse the killer into tunneling by mistake.

The list goes on. Always remember Cheaters exist in the game as well. All that will happen is they will probably kill themselves with a cheat to give there Team the buff

Well if you kill urself to the killer before 6 hooks

Then the killer has a 4k. Stop whining about survivors handing you a free win!

Survivors intentionally killing themselves for a repair speed boost means absolutely nothing, because a dead survivor's repair speed is zero. You have one less survivor to pressure, making it easier to keep the others from doing gens, too.

And if they're not doing gens, it doesn't matter if they get 10, 20, 50, or even 100% bonus repair speed, they're still at zero.

Like if someone is AFK. You as the Killer are supposed to now leave them alone before you will be punished for killing them.

This is literally the most avoidable situation! An AFK survivor is no threat. Slap 'em on the hook, go about your day. You already won, stop whining about it being not as completely lopsided as it used to be!

Survivors can us the exact same survivor and outfit to confuse the killer into tunneling by mistake.

This is literally the only salient point and easy to fix.

People already leave AFKs alone. Killers swerve on me all the time, and I do the same. They're not participating in the game. It's pretty much a 3v1. Do you really need to make that worse to win?

Also, no one is forcing you to tunnel them. Just slug them if they hound you. They still have to spend time getting themselves up instead of being productive.

If people are dressed the same then watch the HUD. Paying attention is free.
