Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

PTB update

I know alot of pc user won’t agree with this , but as a console user I feel it’s so unfair that only pc users have access to this PTB update …. Obviously it’s for a reason I’ve played for years and understand this. But some do not have access or means to a pc or they simply prefer console use. I feel releasing this PTB would be more beneficial to yous (the devs) because the gameplay is slightly different for console users. I’m not sure if a PTB would be accessible to console users but it should!
console users have to wait to use the new chapter- (new killer/survior and updates/ reworks) and some would love to give feedback about their PTB experience like myself!

this may seem like an odd statement/ opinion, however I feel that it’s valid!!
Appreciate if anyone understood!
:)))))

Yeah sadly the devs really cant do much about this. Changes on consoles are far more formal and do not really provide the best environment for a testing/development environment where the devs most likely want to have the ability to make changes on the fly.

I don't think anyone would disagree that it's unfair. A huge chunk of the player base is excluded from testing, but it's not the devs fault. I view ptb as phase one of testing and then live is when they see the full scope and make further adjustments.

It's difficult to have access to a test build on console as sony and microsoft have rules around pushing out updates, this means that the test build would need to be submitted before the ptb is available to the public just so sony and microsoft can review these, this is difficult because if adjustments to the game are made then there is a shorter timespan to push out the new update. Steam however does not have these rules meaning the test build can be pushed out and the live can be adjusted for all versions accordingly without increasing the time gap between ptb and live release.

Why do you think any PC players would be against console players having access to the PTB? The more eyes on the dumb bullshit BHVR is putting out the better. Unfortunately, like others have said its probably not possible due to the rules the different console manufactures have. Maybe they could release the PTB as a separate client, similar to how demos work? I don't know.

Both DayZ and Minecraft maintain separate"Experimental" versions on Xbox, and I imagine the PlayStations have something similar. So it's possible but requires work.

Why wouldn't I agree with this? I honestly don't care if consoleplayers are on the ptb (in a good way), actually it would probably lower searchtimes so I'd find that good xD

People have mentioned the problems with consoles, but the PTB isn't on Epic Games either. It's not just a PC thing, from everything I've heard Steam is just the best platform to do it on.

This is a more complicated logistical problem that what is being described. You're describing effectively splitting the logic of perks and powers depending on which mode the player is in within the same build.

The way the PTB works is it is distributed as a particular build of DBD, the game at base is exactly the same, but with changes at tweaks to the various elements they are updating.

What you're proposing if effectively doubling everything within the same build so you have 2 versions available at the same time to load into the game. This would be extremely cumbersome, error prone and inefficient, effectively requiring a massive code base overhaul to accomodate having dummy versions of whatever features you wanted to change every build that you selectively load based on the mode...

As a console player myself, it's just an unrealistic expectation. It'd be nice if console players could be involved more, but it's completely impractical to do so, especially when plenty of content creators are good enough to help bridge the divide for console players so inclined.
