A reduced time is fair. The problem with the perk is that the endurance extension is ridiculously long resulting in killers suffering from it even if they aren't tunneling sometimes, or it being used offensively similar to DS. Probably why they tried removing the Endurance in the first place.

I like the change. It still protects you if the killer tunnels of the hook, but it makes using it aggressively to take hits much more awkward.

80 seconds was overkill i cant even lie (surv main) 40 seconds of endurance is still decent, plenty of time to tank a hit too if necessary im not mad at it

Guys, remember, they didnt removed the removal of sratch marks, and they brought back endurance, this perk is gonna be so much better if the killer decides to tunnel you!

this is a good change my main problem with OTR was players using to offensively

you still get the 40 seconds of endurance in endgame i’m pretty sure (which is gonna be insane with sprint burst allowing for almost free escapes if you’re close enough) so overall it’s like a sidegrade rather than a nerf to OTR. don’t forget the no scratch marks didn’t get removed either so now we get 4 effects from OTR.

Why do you need 80 seconds of protection? When im actually tunneled im smacked way before that. Are you perhaps trying to use it for another purpose outside of that?

Thanks for catching this. This was a mistake on our end. It's the entire perk duration (including aura reading and suppression) that's been reduced to 30/35/40 seconds. We're updating the patch notes now to fix this.

The Endurance lasting 40 seconds should be fine, that's realistically long enough that any killer actively chasing you off hook is going to trip it.
Not sure how I feel about the rest of the effects being shortened, though. Those never struck me as problematic.

40 seconds is way more than enough for anti-tunneling. If a killer is tunneling a survivor off the hook, they aren’t going to passively follow the survivor for 40 seconds, just to avoid the endurance hit.
I still think the duration should be lower, but I’m curious if this is enough to greatly reduce the number of survivors that weaponize the perk against me.

Why not just make the Endurance 40s, and leave the other effects at 80s?

Is the scratchmark removal still going to be a part of the perk?
I thought the scratchmark removal was supposed to be compensation for the endurance removal? Because if endurance is back, then the scratchmark removal can be reverted.

Oh good, I just have to hope that the killer proxy camping the hook has his monitor turned off and it'll be just fine.
Countered by "having eyes" isn't really selling it.
The thing that bugs me here is that, somehow, there's still a "compensation" change for an entire mechanic that BHVR pulled completely, with zero ETA on when or if it will be back.
So, after 2 weeks of waiting, it went from "anti tunnel update" to "just kidding we accidentally buffed tunneling", to now "it wasn't an accident, were actually intentionally nerfing your anti tunnel perk".
That's the end result of 9.2. Pretty ######### good job so far.

Serious question. Because, you know, multiple people wanted the perk to be reverted, so we should revert the scratchmark change too, right?
The scratchmark change happened because of the anti-tunnel PTB, and the endurance change happened independently of the anti-tunnel PTB, so the scratchmark change should be reverted.

i just checked and they added back the deactivation during the endgame. Weird they didn’t put it in the patch notes.

u guys don't play the game i refuse to believe it, anyone that has tried or uses these perks offensively is just wasting time you cant do gens you cant heal anyone you're literally griefing your team by doing that and you end up just dying faster anyways.
i will never ever understand that reasoning that its an offensive tool, sorry but im really tired of people saying that cause its objectively false.

All they needed to do was just revert the perk. They keep making extra work for themselves over things no one wants. Just revert it and be done with it.

40 seconds seems a bit weak; it should be at 60 seconds like Decisive Strike, otherwise you might as well run Decisive Strike.

Can not understand this community's obsession with the idea that if a perk can be used to punish tunnel attempts, it necessarily can't have any other use case. Like what, are we gonna nerf Thrilling Tremors because it's slowdown, but also if you don't get slowdown value it still gives info? Of course not, that would be silly. Why do we rightfully see the fairness in allowing killer perks to have utility in multiple situations but we cannot allow survivor perks to have that same type of utility?

Tha'ts not even worse. Other effects like blocking aura, scratch marks and grunts of pain also got reduced to 40 seconds for no reason

Killers have perks like "If you hook someone, you ALSO get gen regression." Or "If you kick a generator, you ALSO get aura reading." They don't have to go out of their way to get the value; it's based on stuff they were going to do anyway.
Granted, you have to find a white hook for Pain Res, but Survivors have to find 2 chests, take the time to open them both, then become injured and stay broken for 60s (without going down) just to get a heal. Sure, they get ONE item out of the deal (can't carry 2) but it might not even be any good.
Killers get the equivalent of THREE KICKS, automatically applied to the gen that needs it most, without even having to travel to it. It also boots any survivor off the gen, makes them scream, AND it combos with things like DMS.

If you can survive being tunneled for more than 40 seconds, my hat is off to you. Especially the infamous derpslinger who is fond of shooting people as soon as they are unhooked and then waiting the 10 seconds or whatever it is. Doesn't matter much when he is that close. You ain't going nowhere but back on the hook.

You keep mentioning "survivors weaponizing x-perk" all the time, but how many survivors are actually intentionally throwing themselves in front of the killer anyways?
And it is not like there are any problems in just hitting them to pop their endurance anyways.6 -

This perk needed a duration nerf for the longest time. I could willingly go into game and force a killer to tunnel my 4 health state off hook build even if they never wanted to tunnel.

That's not what people have been saying at all.
Of course you could run over and block the killer with OTR. People have pointed out, correctly, that this is extremely rarely effective and that all the time off of gens in combination with just making a new survivor a target makes this 'weaponization' far blown out of proportion.
As for official statements, it has become extremely clear that despite what they said they were going to focus the QoL updates on, killers have far more of BHVR's attention than survivors.
