I moved up my decision
I've been on this game for 8 years and now I quit. And I don't know how I've put up with it for so long. Out of ignorance, I suppose, or maybe I just didn't want to see it… but I quit.
I know I said I was going to stop playing in December, but I moved up my decision. The game is in a deplorable state; there are bugs everywhere, almost no structures to loop as a survivor, soloq is hell, I see many killer bugs that prevent proper gameplay, and an excessively toxic and sweaty community. I no longer enjoy the game; every time I play, I can't have fun, it's excessively stressful.
And I see that they're using the "the customer is always right" approach to make decisions for fear of upsetting the community, and that's not doing the game any good.
And the worst part is the community: everyone complains about how bad the game is, but everyone keeps playing and everyone keeps buying without really demanding that the game improve.
They release a license DLC and you all forget the deplorable condition in which the game finds. The community spend their money and keep playing and complaining about how bad the game's system is.
Or maybe devs just want to focus on new players and core players don't matter anymore. Which I could understand as a marketing strategy, I suppose... but all I see are complaints in the community.
However… I can't anymore.
I wish the best to those who stay, and if you continue buying and playing, then stop complaining and enjoy what you bought knowing it had many problems with its gameplay. Do you want to demand improvements? Stop playing, or at least stop buying. You know the game has tons of problems and you keep buying dlcs and skins, so don't blame the developers when you freely buy something you know doesn't work.
Glhf. See yall.

Whatever suits you best.
About stopping buying, I never even started to begin with.
I am not spending large amounts of cash on dbd, especially not now that everything has gone wrong.

I haven't spent a cent on this game in months. People might still play but can let their wallets do the talking.

DLCs will never shut me up because I buy almost nothing. I unlock the premium Rifts, but I recycle my auric cells from the previous one. I don't own half the licensed killers and almost no licensed survivors. I haven't gotten any money-only cosmetics. If someone has a perk I want, I wait for the Shrine to have it. This game can drain my time and my happiness, but it's not gonna drain my money.

I wonder if their player counts/player quits track things based on their spending. I'm glad there are people willing to buy cosmetics because I never would (like you I recycle auric cells, mine I got for free, and only own about half the licenses), so me leaving is not a huge financial loss. It would be interesting to know if they actually track when someone uninstalls or stops playing how big of a spender they were.

I quit on Tuesday. I'm sure I'll be back to Dead by Daylight someday, because I love the game. But for now, it has to stop for me. The bugs, pallets, ping issues, cheating, and lack of communication between the studio and community make it difficult to enjoy the game; it's more stressful than fun.
I wish they would give the game to a studio that was genuinely passionate about it. BHVR's decision-makers seem uninterested and continually make poor choices.

More people need to let their wallets do the talking and not just blindly buying everything. Its the only way theyre gonna actually listen to their community.

While dbd has never been a "perfect game" it has never been this consistently bad. I took a break shortly after fnaf and returned last week...
... Just to see the game being as bad as it was before. Worse to be honest.
This update was their opportunity to make things right and it failed spectacularly.
What do we learn from it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Streamers and players keep playing, sometimes complaining while doing so.
Everything continues as usual. Yesterday, a new trailer dropped. I started playing dbd because of the stranger things dlc and despite this, I could not feel more apathy for the second chapter. Vecna is gonna get dropped in a horrible environment.
The game desperately needs to improve before we release new content. Otherwise the state is gonna overshadow the new chapters and noone will be satisfied in the long run.

I‘m joining the boycott team again. I‘ve stopped playing after fog vials were nerfed, came back to pallet density and now I stopped again after the last awful update. I‘m not playing for the other sides power trip.

- Aside from the paid DLC (I own ALL the game's DLC), I haven't bought anything this year, not even a skin. I use in-game currency if I really want to buy something, and I have (about) 1,300 auric cells that I save for the Rift, which you then get back when you play. STOP, when they start thinking and working properly again, I'll start buying skins again. In other times, I would have bought the new Cheryl skin, which I think is beautiful... sorry, but no!

i hope they do, because i would be loss for them, i’ve bought every licensed survivor and killer, i buy cosmetics especially licensed ones that i really enjoy, like the witcher and resident evil, stranger things etc. i probably shouldn’t be spending anything though look how many cosmetics are broken? Look at how poor the hair quality has become in the last year since they lazily use taa and dithering. You bring up how awful it looks and you get told its based on your settings even if your running ultra. Not to mention they clearly don’t respect the playerbase. Like why rework autohaven make it look like radioactive vomit when that map was fine and the swamp has remained untouched, is in a dire need of a rework/visual update? Why are they wasting resources making things worse when they were fine?
If they do not revert the medkit addon changes, and pallet density update before christmas im uninstalling and moving on.
Bhvr is damn lucky im a canadian trying to support a canadian company, if i wasn’t i would’ve walked away a lot sooner.

I stopped giving them money years ago when I realized their priority revolved around pumping out cosmetics & new releases that launch in horrible states, while the game bleeds from the thousand cuts it has open.

I'm not a fan of this update either. The whole thing is pretty bad, so I quit too.

while the thread makes it seem like many people are quitting,
strangely enough, at least since the 2v8 buff ended, the player count feels like it's trending upward compared to last year.-4 -
The reality is that most people are addicted to this game and will play regardless of how good/bad the game is. Also this forum is not representing the whole community. There is like 5-10 people posting in this thread.

I uninstalled when they canned the original anti-camp, though that wasn't the only reason. Every single patch they've made since then has only validated that decision.

Same, I’ve stopped spending money on this game, and I’m someone who has spent an embarrassing amount on it before. I only recently started playing again after taking a break, and while I know I’m just one person and won’t make a huge difference, at least I’m glad I’m not throwing money at them anymore for being so incompetent.

If there's one thing they track properly, I reckon it's money.

I mean, I doubt behavior cares about posts like this sadly. But agreed, I play solo q almost exclusively and it's the worse it has been in years imo. I'm just going to take a break until the holiday season in December; hopefully things are better for solo q by then… but I seriously doubt it.

Honestly?
The two reasons that still make me play this game are:1-The amount of time I've invested in this game to let it all go to waste. When I play these days as either surv or killer is a 50/50 between wanting to play (the gameplay is still something unique) and don't wanting to get rusted. Going to another game to learn something from scratch… damn!
2-Having Wesker and Castlevania's Dracula as playable characters. No multiplayer out there has any of these two characters, although I only play Dracula these days because Wesker got caught up in the power crept and is plagued with bugs that makes me mad in a way I don't have fun with him anymore.
I REALLY like Stranger Things and got excited for Vecna, but then I remembered that I'm not spending a dime more in this game until BHVR can release two major patches (the ones that end with a zero) in a row without bugs and this probably will never happen.
Rift almost never has anything licensed (don't give a crap about original content except maps), so this 2v8 I've spend my "rift money" (the 1K Auric I kept to buy the rift and get "refunded") on the new Dracula skin and that's it.-1
