Skull Merchant after 9.3.2
Does anyone else feel like the skull merchant changes are just ridicilously bad? Like she already was in a bad spot before the changes but having to get rid of drones to become undetectable, which literally is her only viable part of her power just seems weak to me. You can literally just crouch the third scan of her drone which make her rotating it also useless, which basically makes the drones useless in loops. Given the only scanline she now has, I feel like it is even worse. Any opinions?
Like I understand that she might had too much to her power in her pre-nerfed state (undetectable, haste, hindered, broken) butI think just taking away the undetectable wouldve done it. I dont see how the changes now are helping her in any way, given she is still a D tier killer at best. To my mind, she should either get a complete rework or be reverted to her pre-nerfed state with double scanlines (maybe slightly adjusted).

I really don't like undetectable on recall. It's just nerf for normal playstyles and it's good only if you are willing to recycle one drone for infinite undetectable. I am just too lazy for that.
I used to enjoy her ambush playstyle with undetectable and mostly ignored drones overall, but that's just more work for same result now and result is not even good.5 -
Well it did get pathetic to the point that they intentionally nerfed her to the ground just so that no one would player her and there would be no complaints about her anymore… I dont think that was fair towards people who genuinely enjoyed playing her and bought a lot of cosmetics. So yeah, changes are necessary.

Personally, I'm really enjoying Undetectable on drone recall. My games have been a lot more fun, require more strategizing, and feel a lot less brain dead than the "drop-a-drone/shut-down-loop" play style.
I've been playing Skull Merchant since her release, and right now I feel like my matches have felt a lot more fair, while I still can comfortably manage a consistent 3k. They don't feel too hard like they were before 9.3.2, or too easy like she was during the Chess Merchant days.
Frankly, I strongly believe the people trying to claim she got nerfed with the 9.3.2 patch have never actually played Skull Merchant. Or if they have, not more than a dozen matches.3 -
I don't think a killer should be adjusted to make them convenient for players that are lazy and want free wins. That's how you end up with Release Ghoul/Krasue/Skull Merchant.

Considering she was a C tier killer in her best state, I dont think Skull Merchant is no where to be compared to release Ghoul/Krasue. The only thing that was different back then is that she had a reliable anti loop tool compared to now and additionally extremely immobile compared to Krasue/Ghoul. If you really wanna compare her to another killer, Artist would be my call, except that Artists crows are effective compared to Skull Merchants drones in their current state. I should know, I play both killers.

As someone who played against v1 skull merchant in march 2023 I'm sorry but that is not true in regards to her best state being C tier
v1 skull merchant could easily time out the match, old drones gave exposed if the survivors sat in them not like they currently are now where you only get caught by drone if running. This was also before the gen kick limit and the anti camp came into effect. Map offerings where also still a thing so they could pick a map if someone didn't take a counter offer.She was the best at holding the 3 gens with drones, If a survivor commits with the drone there to expose them and a free down as she also had undetectable and a free hook in the 3 gen since no anti camp, if the survivor got rid of the drone she would know and come put another one down. she would not chase outside of her set up 3 gen and the survivors would run out of recourses if they try to break it.
She was arguable S tier due to her ability to play into the gen kick meta that was happening when she came out, making it much much worse.
If she came out in the games current form there would be argument that at her best she was C. but considering the context on when she came out v1 was top tier.1 -

I highly doubt drone recycle was intended way of playing her, but hey maybe I am wrong about that.
Standard gameplay loop for her is simply worse now and doesn't matter which playstyle you prefered, because of this change and it forces you into single weird way of playing.Calling undetectable on deploy "free win" is hilarious…
Whole nerf of undetectable was because they didn't want her to have infinite undetectable with her cooldown decrease, just to give her patch later way of gettting infinite undetectable? That just doesn't make sense.

If you don't actually understand the history of how this killer has worked, her many changes since release, and how that has impacted her perception and position in the game, then arguing with you is pointless since you're arguing from both a place of ignorance and bad faith.-1 -
Lol, I have played her since PTB all the way to nuked version.
What does current version have to do anything with first and later versions? That's just not relevant to our current situation, where standard gameplay was nerfed with latest change and you are forced into "cheese" way of playing.
That is what this post is about, I have feeling you got lost from different post, where guy asked about why she is hated…But I am glad you don't have anything to say against my argument.

Just because she was problematic in the beginning doesnt mean she should be treated like a trash can forever… If you genuinely think shes viable in her current state especially in higher MMR idk what to tell you other than you are wrong. The only reason why she got into her current state is because of survivors crying and refusing to learn how to counter her, thats it

She needs 2 scanlines on drones, not just 1. Just 1 is useless against everyone that's not a beginner.
