Are Killers quitting the game??

Hey BHVR I see a bunch of youtube videos, saying that Killers are quitting, yet they continue to upload Killer content which is.. well ofc they do. So my question is If there really is a tangible Killer trend of people stopping playing outright?? Could you peel back the curtain a lil and answer if you are seeing a dangerous negative trend or if Killer player count has remained stable as expected over the last 6 months?

I imagine its probably just a minority making content on platforms who speaks to Killers who are angry about X.
I also love having people tell me I am right to be upset about things.

But I'm also very scientific minded, so you know I cant resist asking for the sauce.
Are we really gonna trip over the decade line?!?

I was thinking the same thing, cause its only during peak playtimes that the bloodpoint incentive asks for Killers for me.

Not that I care, if im not playing Survivor with my friend, im playing Killer and I dont think that will change anytime for me.

I really don't know how a good metric this is as a sign of drop in players. Ever since they introduced the incentives I haven't seen much of a change at times when survivor gets them and when killer gets them. Sure there has been ebbs and flows but overall pretty consistent for me. As in, during the day survivors gets it and at night killer get its.

It's telling that they won't even CONSIDER swapping to survivor, lol

Killers rarely quit, especially now when the game is favoring them, if u buff killers more than now u know the game could instantly just perish, happen many times, when things break and make no longer sense and no longer fun people would drop it, making killers get free downs is not fun and people will quit.

Killers have actually no issues to quit for unless theyre bad players claiming to be bullied every game (which obviously doesnt happen at all).

As a Killer Main, you definitely catch some flak for tunneling, camping, etc I know this to be true, not every game tho but if you play 10 games I have not doubt you will get 1 nasty thrown your way. But this also means you have to tunnel/camp/slug every game which well.. i find it boring to do that.

Noone has to tunnel/camp or slug. Its a common mistake weve been hearing for years and it never was treu at any point.

I believe you do have to tunnel, camp, slug if you play at high mmr. But the real pros at the top will 100% lose if they dont.
But BHVR also cannot balance everything for the top people and I'm not a top guy anyway.

But the point I want to make is that somewhere out there I believe there is a MMR level where is required.

It's probably because "survivior mains" switched to playing killer.

    Wild guess, I know.

Both of my killer best friends quit the game. They started playing when PH came out. It was sad to see them go. (They left do frustrations like bugs, killer power bug issues constantly)

I mentioned in another post over in the general section that the game needs to fundamentally change, in order to make the gameplay interesting again.
Just think about this for a second: Between all the bad decisions regarding the game, and the failed game health updates, we are now stuck in a weird spot, where the meta play is to genrush as survivor, or hard-tunnel as killer, in order to win the match.
The meta is as stale as old MRE crackers, so it needs to change, if the game is to survive for much longer.

    • First change is to give players different objectives. Something that affects the way that survivors progress their game, and that killers also gets other ways to "sabotage" the survivors progress. This would create a whole different gameplay loop, that I am sure that more players would find interesting.
    • Second change would be to perks. The current meta of perks is also incredibly stale, and you see mostly second chance / exhaustion on the survivor side, and slowdown perks on the killer side. This desperately needs to change.
    • Third. Procedural tile generation needs to go. There needs to be consistency in maps, so that we avoid situations where sometimes there are little to no pallets and bad tiles in an area (favors killers), or there are too many connecting loops with pallets and windows in favorable locations (favors survivors). This needs to be balanced.
    • Fourth. All of these issues have caused players to optimize the way that they play to the fullest. This causes the overly sweaty environment that we have today. - Optimizing every little bit of fun out of the game, in other words.
And all of this this is further excaggerated by the poor matchmaking we currently have.

See I have been a Killer main (except if one of my friends want to drag me into survivor) since 2016 and clearly we must have been playing the same game for atleast a huge chunk of time.

So its just weird to me we can look at the same stuff and they get frustrated and leave, but im fine with it.
And I don't think its because I played Killer in 2016, so everything is better than then, that cant be it.

Before anonymous, usually 1 out of 5 matches. After anonymous, not as often...maybe 1 out of 15, but I suppose because people know they have no way to actually reach out to me outside of general chat toxicity. If they dont have a platform, they are pretty powerless - thats why I play anonymously.

I play both survivor and killer, and surprisingly, I have found that survivors are more likely to be toxic than killers.

What bugs me is a lot of survivors complains are because people just dont want to try. Prime example is that video I provided. He is extremely upset because he couldn't casually walk to a locker 2 yards away from a gen hes working on. No effort to actually evade the killer realistically, no attempt to loop, to run, just any minor inconvenience, and we have people kicking and screaming expecting to make any real effort - and this is the crowd BHVR is balancing around. Im getting to the point where im finding match after match of people who dont even do the basics of looping, even if they are p100 full stack. If they have to make any actual effort, it MUST be because the killer is cheating or toxic or lame or whatever because usually they dont need to actually try. Any real opposition and it's panic mode. Is this really what we are coming to? When im survivor, I'll loop like there's no tomorrow, but I rarely see other survivors actually try - or they DC if they even get a hint that effort is required.

Can concur with Hotrod here. I actually get more salt when I try to friendly play than when I outright tunnel or camp. Got a particularly nasty one the other night that included death-threats, threats to my family, outright racism and borderline comical claims of being born in a prison.

Suffice to say I get those most when I 2 hook, friendly, or avoid the tunnel. It's kind of strange, actually. Frequency wise, maybe 1 in every 20 'friendly' games I'll see something to this effect. More like 1 in every 100 when I just lean into the villain mask survivors paint me under as a tunneler.

Its a ego thing, if you win while avoiding tunneling it makes them feel like you handicapped yourself and still won. It makes them more mad to lose that way versus feeling like they have a exuse to why they lost.

Last match I played was with cheaters (I knocked down a guy and he just removed hook right beside him). They were playing agressively so it wasn't mistery to me. Cheaters the main problem we have in DbD and why I don't recommend it in Steam. I bought this game. I didn't create some free account through Epic games store or Microsoft or whatever…

I don't quit I just switch to other apps for about 5 minutes to search new match. After match is found I get notification in my DE, click on it and hit ready in game.

There’s legit not a single decent opinion you have shared in this forums. Never seen a guy here make his mission to deliver the most survivor biased opinion I ever saw.
