What is the pettiest reason you have for disliking a killer/survivor?

Let's all stop pretending to be objective for a moment and indulge our most biased selves. We all have stuff we just can't be convinced to like, no matter how many people disagree or how lacking the reason for disliking that stuff is.

I got thinking about this when playing against a Freddy last night. I actually like Freddy's gameplay. It's varied, counterable, telegraphed and his sleep mechanic is kind of interesting.

But I hate playing as and against him, because he shows his relative age by being an early license (and he uses the awful remake Freddy too). No voice lines bar a single laugh. No noises at all when interacting with the world. Basic animations. He just walks at you with his default terror radius/chase music with all the menace of those sliding PNG jumpscare npcs from Roblox or Gmod. He feels like a modded character. And those aesthetic reasons alone make me hate playing against him because it's like someone nonconsenually hacked my game to reskin a cooler killer into this dork in a hat. I feel like I should be able to just take a swing at him and knock him out.

On the survivor side, excluding that one Lara skin because my colorblindness makes that cosmetic 100% pay to win, it's Jake. No real reason, I just hate his wiggle noise. Yeeeeuuu. Please bro stop.

Demogorgon because of old daily challenges as I kept getting the "Hit 5 fully charged shred attacks". Anyone that knows this daily might have been one of the most annoying killer dailies you could get as when you play Demo you rarely do fully charged shred as its not fast to do and its usually better to just do fast shreds. So you rarely do fully charged attack in normal gameplay. So quite often had to intentionally do it and it felt so annoying as usually most killer dailies back then were quite simple to get but this one just was a chore usually. Like I still play Demo when I get it in my randomizer builds but it has never been my favorite killer to play and that challenge just still brings a bad taste to my mouth.

I've actually not watched the anime because I plan on reading the manga, and the general consensus I've heard seems to be that the anime starts strong then kind of devolves into nonsense. I'll also say that Kaneki's voice in DBD put me off the idea of the anime because only having DBD to go by, I presumed his gremlin screams were going to be a mainstay. I thought the chihuahua in the tumble dryer bit was actually his iconic sound design and didn't think I could stomach it every 10 minutes. Glad I was wrong, still gonna read the manga instead.

I like Taurie because I find her downed scream funny. Dustin gets similar praise.

Before my time that, for sure. I struggle to do well with Demo because I think I get too excited over his portals, when in reality, most people seem to play him without making too much use of them. I enjoy Demo, though. He's a good pup.

MiNA, solely because she isn't Trickster.

I also hate how non-flappy Dracula's cape is and how weird Skull Merchant's walk animation is but it's not exactly the same level of petty as my dislike for MiNA.

  • zonkednb
    zonkednb Member Posts: 297

I'm kinda with you on the petty MiNA dislike, if only because the comeback chapter had her spammed in all of my games and her little knife throw grunts annoyed me.

I got my petty revenge though. MiNA players love their Mori, so if I was the last survivor, I'd try to go down in a spot that breaks the camera and treats them to a view of a wall or box. That way I'm the real winner.

On Skull Merchant, the first time I ever saw her in game I thought her animations were bugged out. Turns out she's just like that. I think she'd be cooler if she ran tbh but maybe I don't understand character design.

Not so long ago I was on the Wesker hate train because I couldn't figure out how to deal with his power effectively. I've since seen the light and now I like a Wesker game. Anecdotal; most Wesker players I face are merciless.

Ace. I, like others already mentioned, just can't stand his smirk. I can't tell you how many times one has gotten a stun on me and then got directly in my face wanting to be cutesy and his lil smirk just absolutely sends me over the edge.

Nic Cage. This one is kinda personal. I looped a scratched mirror Myers (pre-change) for 5 gens after a Nic player in the lobby had lead the chase to me 2 different times while I was on the first gen. I genuinely to this day do not know why he did that. Well I looped the entire rest of the game and once endgame arrived, I saw a door had been 99'd and saw Nic standing at that door. I ran over there injured with Myers in tow and Nic body blocked so no one could open it. I had no where to loop in the area, so finally went down at the door. Once I was hooked (first hook of the game mind you), the whole team left and he teabagged me at the exit. So yeah, I have a personal distrust (borderline fierce hatred) for Nic Cage's.

For killer I can't say I really have any petty hate for any. I guess if I had to pick one though, I've never had a really positive game with Doctor. I don't mean that as in I've not played well against them, in fact, he's one of the easiest to loop imo. Rather, I've never met one yet that doesn't hard tunnel and BM.

Love the topic @zonkednb <3 I like discussions like this one :)

Yeah, I wanted to post this because I think we all have our own little things that make us perhaps a bit unfair in how we judge a particular character. Like, there are killers I dislike more for their mechanics than good old Fredward, but I have this petty dislike that I can't let go of :( Think it can be quite cathartic to just admit sometimes "Yeah, I hate this thing because I hate it and you're not persuading me otherwise."

I actually laughed at the Ace description. It's so spot on. Like, I'm sorry boo, you're not getting hatch because even though I know you can't help it, your face is BM by default.

I enjoy a good Nic though. Never been sandbagged by one so maybe I live by my privilege here, but they're just chaos incarnate. I had a pretty lopsided 3K, gave hatch to the Nic, and he hit me with "ez baby killer" in chat after. It fried me. Was laughing too much to be mad.

I despise Lara for the damage she's caused to the game for m1 killers. I genuinely cannot stand Finesse it's a regular 3x of in my killer games. it's almost always paired with an exhaustion perk and it's not rare to see Vigil somewhere. playing these people is as miserable as facing 5 gen slugger. Always kill the Lara!

I cannot stand facing Artist, Hag or Trickster as survivor their noises bother me intensely. Trickster knife spamming me on hook IS SO LOUD I CANT THINK!!! at least Trickster I can play, but Artist and Hag are too gross for me to even play. Odd, because I find Plague to be satisfying to imitate.…blech!

It's funny, I was just about to say the same thing. I hate him because his face, mostly just his dumb smirk. He's like an insufferable, smarmy lounge lizard and I can't stand him.

I also agree with OP on Freddy; it's an icon of my childhood stripped of all his personality and made to look boring and generic. I actually resent this version of Freddy; it's like he is mocking me with what he should have been every time I see him.

I hate springtrap so much. not because of his mechanics or anything, I just reeaallly dislike fnaf. I always dreaded the day it would get added to dbd. I also really dislike chucky too, little anklebiting goblin that he is.

MiNA, Aestri, and Pig, 3 characters, 1 petty common issue: All Female Characters Lazily tacked onto Male models.

MiNA and Aestri are the most obvious because they have the same height and body proportions of their male model counter parts, and the only thing different about them is their clothing, Face, and a modest pair of sweater puppies. I'm not saying that there aren't women built like this IRL, Hell, just look at any Female Olympic or sports team and you'll see the same Broad shoulders, Rectangular torso, muscular legs and arms etc. What I AM saying is that the dev team didn't even TRY to give them their own models, they just took the pre-existing male models, and did the bare minimum editing of said models to change the face, and add breasts, and use a different voice actor. At least for MiNA, they tried giving her a more feminine outfit, which is much more than they did for Aestri, most of the time I can't tell which D&D character I'm chasing until they make a noise.

As for Pig… It's not so obvious that the model started out being meant for a male character until you see the hand's up close and personal and realize, those are undoubtedly man hands. Huntress, Charlotte, and Houndmaster have similar hands, but unlike poor little piggy, these are big, brutish, and Plus Sized women, Pig is built like a survivor male, but the person she was based off of, Shawnee Smith, is really quite lovely, and Average woman size with slender feminine hands, not the Fat sausages the devs gave her in game…Wait… Pig… Sausage… ok I get where they were going now.

It's petty I know, but I just hate seeing this level of laziness, especially if the devs are asking you to Pay Extra for it.

I'm very audio-aware. If anytning will make me mad or happy in this game, it's sound. I cannot stand Yun Jin's pain noises or any of Spirit's audio. The ghostly sounds are unbearable. Also, I don't hate him at all since I've been maining him, but the way the Henry Creel skin's fingers bend back like rubber when he gets stunned gives me the ick.

Oh no! His gross smugness is what I love about him.

First thing that comes to mind is skull merchant because these games can last sooo long + it doesn't make sense ... You should be able to take out the drones, not just temporarily disable them. When working on them I think: just break a propellor and a real drone would be gone. Or throw a rock at it or something …Just break the stupid drone …

Second thing is ... And I generally like the hag, but there are a few maps where first thing in my mind is: "please not hag" because the traps are just unfairly invisible.

Probably Wesker's ridiculous running animation. It just looks so silly to me, though I will admit it's kinda funny when you realise he's only moving at the same speed as a teenager casually walking towards you with a knife. On the subject of Legion, I think Hunk's animation and the animation of the female members of the gang look a little bit silly as well (that said, I'm still a Susie main for life. I could never hate these guys).

The only Survivor that really gets under my skin is Feng for her injured moaning. I do like a lot of her skins but I feel forced to run Iron Will if I play as her to preserve my sanity. Since I crutch pretty hard on exhaustion perks, that's pretty much as good as painting a big "kill me first" target on my back.

That's interesting. If we're to list the killer's most likely to turn friendly/meme, I'd put Wesker in the top 3. But it's been awhile. No one likes fun anymore.

My personal most disliked Survivors and Killers are the following:

Survivors which find a key at 5 gens with no hooks and decide to do nothing the whole match to gamble on the hatch.

Killers which carry you to the hatch to mori you there or giving the hatch to the one survivor which hasn´t take a single chase or done a single gen.

My most disliked character in the game used to be Claudette solely for the reason that she was so common back then.

It got so bad that I literally heard her screams and moans outside of the game.

Now that there are a lot more survivors and taste has shifted I don't hold any grudge against any survivor character other than Gabriel. He's still the face of release mft for me and that will likely never change.

For killers, easily Ghoul. Annoying sounds and awful gameplay. All this is made worse as every Ghoul I face plays the killer in the least interesting way possible. Never mind game, never use the power in an interesting way other than to get free hits and catch up. Almost always tunnels…

It might be my MMR but most Weskers I'm coming up against are usually practising their techs (or what's left of them). I imagine the lack of mercy comes from them not wanting to slack off during their Rocky montage.

At first I found the whole "bring you to hatch and shut it in your face" thing to be infuriating, but over time I've started to just see it as a prank. It is just a game after all. I'm not actually being violently murdered.

As for giving hatch to a rat, yeah, sucks. I know from my perspective I avoid doing that. I tend to identify my hatch candidate early on, either by them giving me fun chases or just being cute. If I'm winning by enough of a margin, I'll drop chases on them when they're on death hook to facilitate that.

Wesker's goofy run is made hilarious by how hard the chase music is trying to make it scary.

This is exactly what this thread is about. I love Springtrap despite being fully aware that FNAF is dumb. It's reached that level of irony and tongue-in-cheek stupidity that I can't dislike it for the very valid writing/conceptual issues.

The best decision was making Springtrap a goofy, moustache-twirling villain with corny lines.

I'm not a fan of clown. In most of my games against a clown a majority of them are the players that suck the fun out of a game by hard tunneling super early or full lobby slugging/bleeding people out. That's just my experience with a majority of the clowns I encounter.

Ironically my stereotype for a Clown player is someone who runs on total autopilot. Completely unresponsive to all shenanigans. Ws to the survivor, bottles the resource, gets the hit, haste+W, gets the down, and finally hook. Repeat until unhook notification goes off, then hold W back to hook and repeat.

Not all Clowns ik. I play him sometimes and don't do that, but even when they've already won, they won't even give me a funny head nod. Just walk into me, hit me, mori me. My man is bad at his job, clowns are supposed to be funny.

    Freddy moment.

For purely petty reasons, survivor wise it’s probably Bills. He’s just SO loud. No hate to the actual character but the audio of him coughing nearing a heart attack drives me nuts. Killer, probably Dracula, only because the wolf form is consistently used to hump people. It’s never a good feeling when it’s a regular human kind of killer but something about it being a literal dog just makes it extra gross and inappropriate to me.

I once joined a voice channel on the official discord server when All Things Wicked came out and got bullied out by everyone because I didn't own Sable, so I wasn't "cool." I side-eye Sable players now, but some of them are nice to be fair. lol

As for killer… Ghoul is so irritating to play against, AND listen to. Both the sounds of the killer and the chase music makes my blood pressure spike.

The Ghoul being Kaneki as killer. He never ate/kill a human, Rize sure makes perfect sense but Kaneki being a killer never sat right with me.

This is coming from someone who has read the Manga.

I'm actually genuinely surprised we never got a Sasaki Haise survivor for Tokyo Ghoul. I find it odd we have Aogiri Tree outfits for survivors like Nea when they are basically terrorists.

  • Aven_Fallen
    Aven_Fallen Member Posts: 18,063

    There are a bunch, lol.

I hate Jane, she is my least liked Survivor. Simply because of her looks and her voice, I just find her pretty repulsive. I also have some hatred against every Survivor with voicelines, since most of them are bad, e.g. I think Orela is a cool character, but I would never like her simply due to her dumb "I hope this Hook isnt rusted"-Voiceline. A special hatred is also reserved for the TWD-Survivors, simply because BHVR did such a bad Job with their voicelines and screams/grunts of pain. Especially because I was dumb enough to buy the Daryl-Skin immediatly, but thats on me, lol.

For Killer, there is only Ghoul and a bit of Springtrap. For Ghoul, especially the Rize-Skin, I think it is just cringe overall. Especially the constant screams, the laugh and the Mori. This completely aside from the gameplay, Ghoul could have the best gameplay, but I would really dislike him just because of all the stuff around him.

I also find the grab of Springtrap pretty cringe, especially with this skin where he has a human head. Even if I overall like Springtrap as a Killer.

Nice to see some people on here who actually like Kaneki because Tokyo Ghoul is awesome. Definitely get on the manga cause it's one of the best ones out there and my all time favorites.

I'll also add that I specifically spirit because of here loud ass breathing and noises, like I get you got shredded into pieces but can you not moan so aggressively at me???

I'm neutral because I'm yet to read the manga, but it's like 2nd on my list of media to consume, I just procrastinate a lot.

I genuinely like the contrast between her usual haunting moans and her sudden, shrill attack/stun noises. It feels like they wanted her to be pitiable, which she is by her story, but also show that she's absolutely consumed by rage that comes out in these moments.

The only thing that bothers me about Spirit is her attacking noise. It feels kinda of out of genre, like a fighting game attack. It feels one step below a literal "Hi-yah!" and I find that a bit hard to fully take seriously. I think it'd be better if it was more feral sounding to really sell how much rage drives her.

Im gonna go with Sadako. The jumpscare she does at the menu screen is BS. I can't relax and spend BPs in peace. It was fine for awhile since I could turn her model around, but they decided to "fix" that...
