New Trickster still confuses me
I was playing some Trickster yesterday, and he just baffles me.
I have come to figure out the patterns in ranged killers. If the projectile does instant damage, the killer is 4.4. If the projectile infects or builds up to damage, the killer is 4.6.
But Trickster is a killer where the projectile builds up to damage, and he’s 4.4. I don’t understand why, it doesn’t make sense. And I don’t think there is any good reason he should stay 4.4.

I recommend trying ricochet blades or the like, I don't agree they should be 115 but I do think their old haste addon should be brought back, especially if the likes of Jason gets to have teleportation and haste.
That said Trickster's strength can come from how quick they can down in my opinion, rock loops are the ones I find are most problematic but ricochet lets you aim to bounce off the pallet and get your hits.
my current build is: Furitive Chase, Friends til the end, bamboozle, turn back the clock-1 -
The reason he is 4.4 is because the train never stops. He has no problem downing all four survivors in a blink of an eye if they group up. Most other ranged killers do not have that snowball potential.

Trickster is basically Skull Merchant or, I predict, Ghoul.
No matter how they're reworked, no matter how they're nerfed they have this weird reputation from years ago and so BHVR cannot make them anything close to strong or the forums will overflow with tears.
…I'm not sure if you're being serious.
He's objectively weaker than his original state or his rework. His 'meter' is pathetic, main event is only really useful when you're preventing unhooks and they put him back to 4.4, despite him being a standard movement killer post rework and still being awful.

I am being serious. He's way worse in chase, but due to the reworked main event mechanic he's great at area control and proxy camping.

"If the survivors play poorly, the killer can kill. This is a bad thing apparently."
10 -
Yes, that thing that they're actively working against and constantly add new features and map designs to prevent.
That's like saying a killer is good on Haddonfield. Potentially true, but also completely irrelevant.

Like most killers yeah🤣

I mean i do agree with the take on map design for example, but killers are prone to be stronger/weaker at certain things. Trapper will never be as good in chase as billy and thats okay.

Because just like other ranged killers, his counterplay is using unconventional looping to avoid his knives. Give him 115% and he just becomes a walk-em-down willy.
I truly think it boils down to people severely under estimating his skill ceiling since 99% of Tricksters you go up against throw knives away as much as Sables throw themselves at the killer

He has always been, fundamentally, a complex hillbilly.
Among characters who use projectiles, this one is the easiest to dodge; however, because the projectiles are small, they hold significant potential.
Content creators don't know the proper way to use it?and consequently don't know how to handle it?so they're just shoving it into the 4.4 category.

Trickser still has some bugs when even his small hitboxes colide with objects like they were huntress hatchest.
It happens sometimes so he isnt that great after all just all he can is cut down survivor fast who isnt in safe location and then sucks in everything else.
Trappe will never be good in anything except camping trapped basement in shack with addons for it, unless they finally make his rework real and not just myth in roadmap.

if you're caught in the open against this killer you're just dead.

That's exactly what i mean. There are killers with certain strengths and weaknesses. If every killer would be chase-focused the game would be stale.

Same with bubba or hillbilly but I don't see them at 4.4

Thats like best thing he can do that he will get you very fast if you get caught in open or on low loop where he can throw over but then he has no mobility, he sucks in chase on taller loops because he looses solid distance when he uses power and must have los on you which is very limited on these loops. Maybe he can still hold hooks but its in my opinion worse then tricker before who had to hit more knifes but had main event every time the basicaly hit 8 of them so he was better at it then this one.
Less knifes so he needs to reload more and is 4,4 speed which terrible for many loops where old trickster would either put you down with knifes (took longer but with his speed on some it was faster then this one) or he could use m1 more.
There are way more killers that destroy you when they get you in open like bubba, billy, mayers can just put you down in one shot or huntress, wesker, blight, draculy can get you very fast too so nothing that special tbh not to mention many surviviors dont run against killers in open even not against nurse.

The Dev logic is not all there in the head they just wing it

"If survivors play poorly and badly, the killer gets to kill them" what a shocker.
Is leatherface a problem too because he can do that?
0 -
If leatherface had 30 chainsaws that he threw at you nonstop he would be
-2 -
***tsters "chainsaws" can be dodged

I guess there is no harm in trying them at 115 how they are now, see how it goes.
Can't be any worse than facing hex Jason in his current state
Also as a MiNa player, she plays Ji-Woons voice at the end of main event currently, can we fix that lol and the diamonds on her shoulder are rigged incorrectly, they float off of it.1 -
cant forget your rank clipping at the top of the screen

True LOL

I don't think that's a problem. I was just explaining his strengths after the rework.

Yes but you basically described a scenario that explicitly puts him in complete control. I could describe a similar scenario about trapper and you wouldn't think that trapper is suddenly OP. Obviously if all the survivors are grouping up against a killer that specializes in dealing multiple health states in a row on survivors on a long cooldown during that time when that ability is available they are going to have a bad time. Just like if they group up against leatherface, or legion, or if they don't cleanse the condemn against sadako, or if nobody goes for the box against pinhead.

He simple doesnt work as 4.4, this rework was the worst version of Trickster. The style rank is so confusing ( honestly? noone knows exately how that rank works or what each rank does) He feels slow for everything, throwing knifes? feels slow, map pressure? feels slow, chase? feels much slow. U have less main event now, u have less knifes. While Jason has speed, movement, recharge at middle of chase, and still a one shot range killer too. I hope in the some mid chapter (soon i think) they make some ajusts for Trickster. He feels painful to play now, much more than the old version.

that's because they have a range of 0m

It’s not smart to balance a killer around poor survivor plays, I’ve queued into X9, team slop and play scrim setting customs often with my swf, 4.4 can make this killer have no power.
If there’s nothing but tall loops and strong mains, where you can never maintain LOS, then you have no ability to even rely on M1 chase fundamentals. Then at 4.4 if there’s windows to keep resetting distance you can’t even effectively mindgame because you’re too slow and good survivors hold check spots like they should. Plus good old W key gamers will force you to commit to a chase, then camp/proxy, hope you have enough of game left to salvage in the 3v1, all because you can never catch up to disciplined survivors. I don’t have a problem with counterplay, I’m just stating my experience when I can tell survivors understand the assignment against my main.
Keep every other nerf and give him back 4.6. Artist and Unknown are the other multihit ranged killers and they’re 4.6 to make up for how badly their power can be nullified. Artist is even A tier on a good portion of lists but nobody complains that she can just walk you down if her power isn’t working.
I severely disagree on both sides with nerfs being around poor play, Trickster was overtuned before but now it’s a full overcorrection. Let killers have some agency in chase the survivors will be okay. Every other changed introduced more intuitive, more approachable counterplay, 4.4 turned this killer almost harmless if the map is bad and the survivors don’t make mistakes.0 -
I do not think trickster is strong. I just think hes a great area control killer. Trapper and Bubba are too. All of them are not the strongest.
