What is your dbd hot take you will defend till the end.
Mine is i think corrupt intervention should be base kit the same way borrowed time was made baskit to combat gen rushing the same way borrowed time was base kit was added to stop tunneling.

Fun is an important consideration when balancing the game.
People forget we're balancing a game, not a spreadsheet.
41 -
The castlevania chapter should have had 2 survivors, Simon Belmont, and Shanoa. Which would have allowed for both the male and female characters of the franchise to come in as legendaries much like resident evil
8 -
The only problem i have with this hot take is whos fun do you use to balance for. Sense if you pick the majority then killers fun no longer matter sense they make up so few of the players only needing 20% of players to be killers.
-17 -
A more tame one would be I think Last Stand should be earnable more than once for how long it takes
One I know will tilt people: Old dead hard would be fine versus modern killer design and I prefer facing it over current dead hards jank interactions (survivor falls on floor like they are downed then teleport|5 -
That a players' mindset going into a trial has more effect on the outcome than allies, map, killer, maybe even ping. 😜
7 -
Skill measurement/matchmaking is by far the biggest problem in the game - way more than any supposed killer vs survivor balance issues. But for some reason, BHVR continue to refuse to address this huge problem.
12 -
Both sides need accounting for. The main issue is people knowing a killer is fun from one side, so being resistant to change that might make it a bit less fun for one, but overall more fun for both. People also presume any change that considers the fun for one side is some kind of automatic proof that the 'other' side is getting coddled and preferential treatment.
Ghoul is the posterboy for this. Ghoul isn't OP, so people calling for change get a lot of resistance from the camp that claim because he is relatively balanced, he shouldn't ever be touched again.
I get that there's a degree of mistrust in the community over how an unfun killer should be handled. I know enough about the Skull Merchant saga to sympathise, but we can't just not allow changes to a high-tier-but-balanced killer just because it has gone badly before. A killer being balanced purely by strength is not automatically in a good place.
6 -
The problem still stands whos fun are you bashing this off or is it just in general because again the survivors woukd have to much input being 4 times the number of killers. You need to balance around both fun and data because somthing can be fun and not good or not fun and bad.
-9 -
The game would be way more fun with the old grade based matchmaking
9 -
I agree! I'm not saying don't consider the data, I'm saying don't claim that because a killer is at exactly 60% KR that we should never look at them. I'm not saying pure democracy because yes, it's a four-to-one imbalance. Consider input from both sides, consider the expected skill expression from both sides, and work to balance these as much as possible.
Say a killer is a 4/10 on the fun scale to face, but 9/10 to play. The game would be better if it was 7/10 on both sides. It's never going to be a perfect science, but if we don't ever make adjustments with fun in mind, the game will have annoyances, frustrations and unhealthy things forever.6 -
Survivors are the weakest they've ever been. They're basically lambs to the slaughter. I actually played DBD when survivors were strong and had great meta perks like old Dead Hard. I can tell you that's no longer the case. These days Windows and Deja Vu are what passes for meta. Playing survivor is now as hard or harder than playing killer.
-1 -
survivors should be nerfed into the ground for the sake of balancing the game
-15 -
Marvel rivals kinda just did this in a fun way by omega basically buffing everyone and adding an entire new set of stuff to use lol.
1 -
I've got a few, generated over a good few years of playing at this point.
- Funnily enough one of mine is that Corrupt SHOULDN'T be basekit, because it doesn't affect all killers equally and would lock some of them out of certain playstyles arbitrarily.
- Pig isn't weak anymore. She used to be, she used to be the bottom of the barrel alongside Trapper, but nowadays she's actually just pretty okay. Not top tier, but not weak anymore- five straight years of almost exclusively buffing her did actually work.
- Most perks on both sides are good, even if they could still use some love to make them more interesting or potent. Genuinely bad perks are kinda rare in this game, it's more common for a perk to be pretty decent but outclassed by other tools or just an unpopular effect.
- Similarly, new perk releases aren't as bad as people act like. Survivors have had at least one genuinely worthwhile perk per release on average, and while it's a bit spottier for killers there's still some good heat in there.
- Windows of Opportunity isn't strong, it's just nice to have. Strength doesn't correlate one to one with pickrate, too, in general.
- Finally, this game actually is good and fun to play.
0 -
I will agree windows is not broken bit I will say its and for the game with the hold w to yellow and pallet density being such a problem for low tier killers.
-8 -
Survivors for sure need less hand holding a second chance perks but definitely not nerfed into the ground.
-13 -
COMPLETE counters should not exist. Its one thing to counter something, but Lightborn for example completely nullifying flashlights and crackers should not be a thing, or Self Preservation completely nullifying BBQ and other hook related aura reading.
12 -
The one that always gets me downvotes but i truly believe would improve the game? Casual and ranked playlists.
Also idk how much basekit corrupt intervention would actually help killers. Losing the first gen or two isn't a huge issue. A lot of the time survs jumping straight on the first gen they find usually ends up setting up a 3 gen situation. I suppose it does allow for early pressure.
4 -
I am not responsible for your fun, and I'm going to play however I want, and if you have a problem with it, I'm intentionally going to lean into it because it makes you mad.
-13 -
Forgot about Jeryl? Or am i missing something?
1 -
Dracula is not a good killer. He is clunky, has weird hitboxes and is easily outplayed. Jack of all trades, master of none. B-tier at most.
0 -
i mean, they arent supposed to be strong. the point of the game is that you ARE lambs to the slaughter, thats literally the point of you being there.
-8 -
I remember when survivors and the meta perks were stronger, and also remember how ridiculously long survivor queue times were during peak hours because nobody wanted to play killer. Now the queue times are much more balanced during peak hours. Yes, killer queue times are long during off-peak hours, but that has always been the case.

i got a couple for ya.
DBD has the worst map design in pvp gaming history. Coming from a guy who has played games like Rainbow six siege, and cod mw2019 DBD takes the cake for having the worst maps ever in gaming. Picadilly from mw2019 and reworked Hereford Base from R6 are BETTER and those maps are absolute trash.
Artist should have not gotten the diablo 4 lilith skin. She does not have the playerbase to warrant that good of a skin. Sorry artist mains.
Skull Merchant 2.0 was not bad to face and endless complaigning got her overnerfed. There i said it. Hang me from the gallows likes its the French Revolution if that comment makes you upset.
I dont like Jason having a big emphasis on a ranged attack, as a big fan of the friday films i wish he was more of a unga bunga teleporting goblin mode killer. Yes i know he sometimes chucked stuff at people but about 95% of his kills are up close.
Hillbilly should be the best killer in the game and should overthrow Blight and Nurse as top killer.

The abandon mechanic was a mistake.

People are far too quick to write off every single perk that doesn't automatically win them the game as being "useless". God forbid you need to actually use your brain instead of just slapping on a bunch of busted perks to win the match for you.
1 -
Sprint Burst, Lithe and Dramaturgy need reworks or nerfs. These perks are probably the biggest bottle neck to balance on the survivors end like how nurse is to perks (bring back 2 second aura linger on Awakaened Awareness). People REALLY underestimate running faster than the killer for even 3 seconds or the on-demand haste of Dramaturgy. Not to mention the pairing with vigil in sprint burst case is absurd.
It just worsens the pre run shift W problem against the killers that already don't have good map mobility leading to those players either sticking to one tricking or just moving to a higher tier killer that can deal with it better which lessens killer diversity. Since it's a lot harder to bring a killer UP to a level that they're still enjoyable to face against.-3 -
I miss lightburn on nurse and wraith.
7 -
Okay I only disagree with you on lightborn because we do not have a dark mode blind. I get migraines from the flashlight blinds so run it to not be in pain but if they made a dark mode it wouldn't hurt me or people with similar problems.
-3 -
I agree with all except the Diablo skin for artist one. She deserves good skins like everyone else and there will probably be more then just that skins for the collaboration. On skins tho Billy needs some better skins and bad
-3 -
Hand holding on survivor… how many slow downs you running on your killer? your getting ratio'd to oblivion making me think it is a rage bait post
5 -
I usaly run 1 a direct slowdown like surge or pop or erupt with 2 info perks and an other perk that is swapped for lightborn when I see 2 or more flash lights sense the blinds give me a migraine
My sirvivor build is overcome self pressure baby sitter and we'll make it.
-4 -
I would Suggest stop listening to your favorite streamer and stop tunneling out the first guy and learn your macro management. I main Legion with 0 slow down and i 3-4k most of my games. Sure there is that game i get pooped on by a wannabe Esports team (in a casual game 🤣) but that is like 1 in every 10 games or so.
A lot of killers lose because they dont know when to break off a chase with a survivor before it is too late.
pick 1 killer and learn. Macro management is a transferable skill.
Hate it or not Killer has been the easiest role (besides a 4 stack swf) coming from someone who has been playing since 2018
10 -
I dont use content creators build unless I think the would be fun I run a slow down perk for pressure info perks to get in chase more and quicker and the other pekr is sloppy butcher usaly or sometime rapid brutality sense my mains are dredge pig and hag. Slow i dont tunnel i slug more i find it more fun to just get right into another chase and not have to worry about activating almost 30 different survivor perks. Killer isnt easy survivor is by far easier i play survivor more then killer and I watch videos and listen to music which I cant do on killer. I have a good escape and okay kill rate. I just dont like being hand held its why u run an unhook build and I dont run perks i dont like playing into on killer like vigil lithe or sb.

People are giving multiple so I'll do the same.
- A lot of killer PLAYERS are pretty bad, and I do mean some that put quite a bit of time in the game. I feel like those that act like the game's balanced against them are simply not good. The fact that actually good players need to do insane challenges to lose on some killers speaks volume of the gap between good players and low-ceiling and jaded players that need to whine quite often. Yes the game has BS, but you have more than enough tools to makeup for it. How the hell can you say you're at any sort of disadvantage against survivors unless you purposely bring very crap killers? (I also think MOST killers can blast the majority of public matches if wielded by someone that isn't bad)
- A lot of survivor players are awful too. I'm less inclined to call this a hot take because in the end most casuals go there.
- Killers that say survivor is easy or autopilot only play one side seriously and/or are outright coping. Getting good at survivor is wayyyyyy harder than at killer.
- Survivors that are unable to tell the killer had the right mind to tunnel depending on the tides of the game are just bad at the game and likely not very bright — meaning I think their opinions should be be weighed as far less valuable than someone who plays both sides.
- Nerfing Save the Best of Last was incredibly silly. With pallet density as it is, I don't even think it was ever even close to too strong. Not really a hot take but my God that garbage decision was certainly HOT.
- You should not be playing multiplayer video games if t-bagging makes you angry enough to write a rant about it.
I'm purposely being spicy here because I see too many cold takes. I personally am not actually passionate about any of this, but I like to be on theme!
-2 -
your on the wrong mindset. stop worrying about others players fun and play for your fun. for Example i run a Blast Mine build like 70% of my games i love stunning the killer with wiretap so player see him get stun 🤣 and if i can get him at least 2 or 3 times in a game i won in my book.
Dont Limit yourself when Killers and Survivor will still bring their strongest kit
2 -
I play both and survivor is easier im sorry. if you play both sides alot of the macro from killer transfers to survivor while not macro from survivor doesnt normally transfer to killer. Survivor is also way less stress full and why we have a killer anxiety epidemic but not a survivor anxiety epidemic (but I do think survivor anxiety is a thing judt not on the same level as killer)
-6 -
I dont find it fun to do somthing to someone I wouldnt like done to me It makes me feel scummy and I like my build i normally play support classes in games priest in mom lucio in overwatch support necromancer in guild wars 2 so I really like my unhook survivor build as for killer I really dont mind any perks they have they just dont annoy me the same way survivor perks do specifically sb god I hate sb on both sides meg stop ######### slow walking and just 99 your sb for the love of god.
-5 -
Killer anxiety truly is the silent killer right now, Spookyloopz released a decent video recently on that topic too
-4 -
Ya i saw it and as someone who suffers from very bad anxiety from the military im glad its getting more attention. Killer anxiety feels the same to me as when I used to work on birds stressed that if I mess up even once people can die.
-1 -
How is it easier? It's less stressful, sure, but getting good at survivor takes way longer than killer, and there are a few reasons for it:
- As survivor, there's a good chance most of the game you're not practicing chase, meanwhile as killer you're ALWAYS practicing chase.
- Survivors have to adapt to every killer and their counterplay. Killers have the same survivors to face all the time with occasional perks to lookout for (survivors also have to deal with killer perks).
- Macro was much harder as survivor before the hud, now it's a bit less difficult. Sure.
- I do think that since you're the weaker role in 1 v 1, it is HARDER to improve overall. This is also why getting wins as killer as beginner vs. beginner is hilariously easy.
Most of what you said is just 'killer causes anxiety and teaches you more'. It doesn't mean it's harder.
8 -
but you just told him to limit himself by not tunneling saomeone out in an elimination game where there is no game rule stating you should be alive X amount of time before you are eliminated.
So which is it? Limit yourself or not?
-7 -
Im not sure what the cheryl/james abomination skin has to do with having 2 seperate survivors lol
0 -
hey, that's kinda rude! Jeryl was my main T_T Cheryl is still my #1 most played survivor by a country mile because of them/it.

I have plenty of hot takes but the one that's probably gained me the most down votes is defending Legion's inclusion in 2V8. I still think they belong in 2V8.
I've argued my case enough times here already, so I won't go over all that again. I'll just say BHVR did them dirty by removing them (mostly, imo, for the sins of much stronger Killers in the mode) and they barely even tried to make Legion work and leave it at that.
-6 -
Builds like this or Krasue with Dissolution, while not strictly overpowered, are extremely unhealthy for the game. Removing all aspects of skill from chase shouldn't be possible for either side. I feel the same way about survivors that run Windows/ 5 steps ahead and essentially follow the RPG quest arrow from resource to resource.
9 -
I see you getting blasted but thank you for sticking to your guns. I really didn't think they were an issue with the fast mending I actually enjoyed being the first one in the frenzy chain. they were more fun to face than Wraith or Oni imo
their removal is why I started advocating for adding Ghoul
-1 -
Multi-million dollar company can't figure out a way to balance a character so they just delete them instead.
0 -
What if there was no separate killer and survivor queues? What if everyone picked both a survivor and killer loadout and the game just picked from the 5 players in the lobby who gets to be killer this round. That would do away with survivor or killer mains since everyone has the same play time on both roles and can really understand what both sides are like.
-3 -
How would you account for playing with friends?
