Is a Jurassic Park collab possible?

With the extreme popularity of the franchise, could a chapter themed around it actually be possible? Are there any actual counter arguments against the raptor coming to dbd?

The most convincing I’ve seen is just that Jurassic Park is seen more or less as a kids movie, yet ‘The Big One’ definitely had some thrilling and terrifying moments in the first film that’d make it more than plausible in a horror game/scenario. (+ the audience of Stranger Things and FNAF are around the same age range - 10 — 40 - so)

People have also questioned a raptors competence, even though it’s described as being an apex predator, capable of thought on par with humans.

Just think it’d be great to have it as a new killer.

If it were to have a full chapter, the ruined visitors centre would be ideal, with Alan Grant and Ellie Satler as the survs.

Jurassic Park could definitely be considered horror, so it could have a place in DbD.

As its own chapter? Not sure about that one. Sure there's a bunch of people who could be survivors. But the killer? A raptor? The things a raptor can do have already been done. How would a raptor be unique and powerful in it's own right and still be a raptor in DbD? We already have Demogorgon, Xenomorph and a whole lot of dash slop killers already.

I could see a crossover for cosmetics, BHVR does like that easy money.

I must admit though, a Jurassic Park map could be really cool.

Xeno and demogorgon wouldnt place people on hooks, so a raptor at most would just get a new type of carrying animation. Maybe biting their head and carrying them around in 3rd person. I mean they even wan't to do jaws and the only thing stopping them there is figuring out how it would swim through the maps lol

He has this one right. We got #)*%*#%'n Ghoul. We get anime content. We got Iron Maiden Cross overs, Alice in Wonderland References, and frick'n Dracula. Raptor is not out of the question. Would probably be a power crept Twins leap, with some kind of undetectable mobility sprint.

What would a raptors power be? I'm assuming it'd be similar to Demo?

Would be cool to be able to play as the Indoraptor or even one of the raptors from the first movie.

    Rest In Piece Sam Neill.

Remember My Little Oni? It would be like that.

I would imagine it being more like Hillbilly moving around the map fast running.

both Xeno and Demogorgon have been shown to carry their victims to specific places and not (always) kill directly, so it was never a good argument against them.

Now a normal raptor is another thing, but the Jurassic Park dinosaurs are heavily genetically engineered and some have shown to listen to commands in some forms

„insert killer cant do anything that hasnt been done already“ is overused and has been proven to not be an argument against the inclusion of Said killer multiple times

Pretty much every killer being released in the Future (and for some time already for past Killers) will be some kind of rehash of existing Killers anyways.. Thats just something to be expected with the Game Engine and the amount of existing killer abilities

Normal raptor might be a stretch but the indoraptor? Yeah it could as its known that it has sadistic tendicies and actually torments and stalks its prey before killing it

Can someone remind me how Jurassic Park is horror? Respectively.

I feel like if anything Jurassic Park would be a cosmetic DLC, blight dino cosmetic etc.

Made a post about this myself a while ago, details in here.

As I detail in the post, the indoraptor would be an ideal killer candidate. Bio engineered killing machine gone rogue? Perfection.

I would even include the second one with the scenes where the mercaneries are running away from the Rex and they run into the tall grass even if the guy who knows better is telling them not to do that and you see the grass moving and see the mercaneries being killed one by one by the unseen Raptors.

edit. or the guy who gets eaten by the compies.

The indoraptor is definitely a formidable threat, yet it’s less iconic than the raptors and has lesser cosmetic customisation. The Big One could have TWL, JP3 and JW. I’d personally prefer a Jurassic Park chapter over a Jurassic World chapter, but aslong as their are JP skins in it I’d be happy.

They can have Indoraptor as a skin as it would not really be that different than having the Alien Queen as a skin for Xenomorph.

If the indoraptor was a legendary skin for the raptor that’d be ideal, making fans of both trilogies happy. They are both different in size however, with the indoraptor being (I would say) significantly larger than a raptor. It’d also hunt differently, due to it being fully intelligent and killing for fun unlike the other raptors. Because of all this I think a separate Jurassic world chapter could be better but I highly doubt bhvr would ever put in that much effort for a franchise such a small amount of the fanbase actually want.

Thats why I did the reference to the alien queen as its bigger than the normal Xenomorph even in the game. So they can make skins to be bigger than the original killer if they so chose. Not to mention its entitys realm it can decide to just have Indoraptor to be little bit bigger than the normal raptor.

Yeah, I was referring to the shred, not the portals. I'd imagine speed would be another sure.

Yeah the raptors are more iconic for sure. But i dont think they fit the dbd vibe as well. They would look goofy as hell carrying a survivor since their arms are so short, unless bhvr when ham with the animation and had them lock a survs shoulder in their jaw and drag them.

The indoraptor is definitely more horror coded, and with those huge ass hands and claws is could proper grab a survs skull to carry them.

    Is it possible?

I hope so. But please with a jungle map!

Very sad for Sam Neill :-(

JP is easily in my top 5 franchises that I'd like to see come to the game. I'd be pretty disappointed if we got Jurassic World instead, but I could see that being a possibility because the DBD player base skews a lot younger than I am (hence why the FNAF chapter was such a huge success) and Universal might see higher potential for bigger profits by licensing out the requel trilogy of movies.

If we did get JP, I'd expect the Raptor to be the Killer and their power be a stealthy mash up between Knight, Twins and Demo. You get a pack of three raptors but you can only control one at any given time, with the other two raptors waiting around the map to patrol areas and ambush Survivors that might come into range. Each raptor has a different characteristic (e.g. better speed/stealth/senses/a longer leaping range). Maybe the power would be something like that?

I don't know, but it could definitely work as a full chapter. I have absolutely no doubt about that.

that isn't horror though, a bit intense, thrilling maybe… but horror? no.

  • HoodedWildKard
    HoodedWildKard Member Posts: 2,991

Not in the traditional sense i suppose, but as long as it's scary. A lot of the IPs currently in dbd aren't exactly horror, tomb raider, heck even vecna being from dnd isn't particularly a horror setting. He's just the of the big bads in the setting.

Indoraptor is just as as valid a killer as vecna imo.

A dinosaur in DbD would not be scary, it would just be goofy… and DbD would no longer be a horror asym. I'm afraid if Jurassic Park was to come to DbD, DbD would no longer be able to call themselves are horror game and would lose its identity. I don't know if i'd continue to play if they went that far off course… Vecna, Lara Croft… i can handle but dinosaurs? Nah.

A dinosaur is a weird place to draw the line when we already have a possessed Chuck E Cheese robot from a children's video game and a wizard that summons a big purple hand for a power. That's not to mention the surreal fact that we also have Nic Cage playing himself in the game. DBD has been a little bit goofy for a while now.

If I put you in a time machine and send you back to the cretaceous era, you honestly wouldn't be afraid of all the giant birds with teeth trying you make you their next meal? I think you might be.

I'm sorry I struck a nerve by not wanting a dinosaur in the hit HORROR game Dead by Daylight. At least FNaF is a horror franchise, and Vecna has horror origins and aspects to it. (I was against D&D being in DbD too if it's any consolation)

A dinosaur is just not horror in the slightest. Save that for Fortnite, don't you think? Horror would be the likes of Pan's Labyrinth, The Hills Have Eyes, Outlast Trials, Candy Man, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal… etc. not… a dinosaur…

Matter of opinion. Fair few people on here seem happy enough with dinosaurs as a horror thing. Just have to agree to disagree.

Though I hardly think including one IP will make the game lose it's identity 🤣
