To Devs- hatch fix idea
In the last few days I have had a half dozen matches where I kill 3 survivors and am waiting for the hatch to open with the last survivor, and both of us are spamming the action key so it’s really up to chance. Half of them I close it, the other half they jump in. I can’t hit them or that guarantees they get the jump. This seems kind of crappy as I have done everything right up to that point and they still had generators left incomplete when the hatch opened. Would it be possible to lock the jump for survivors for 1 second for each incomplete gen?

Was in a match yesterday has Freddy.
5 gens all incomplet, killed 3 survivors and the last one escaped through the hatch.
Yep I didn't know but apparently now the hatch spawn even if the survivors weren't able to do anything. Bc you know... they deserve it...

Crap happens... Can't always get your 4K... There are ways around that as killer, don't ask the Devs to hand it to you.
4 -
You got 3 kills..... you won
4 -
Ik but still. Why would they even be given the option to escape when clearly they didn't deserve it tbh.
Edit: My bad though you replied to me didn't realize me and the guy who made the post both got the same amount of kills. XD

@Topic:
Half of the time you won, half of the time the Survivor won. Does not sound wrong to me.
Because otherwise there would be Hostage Situations.
3 -
I’m not asking anything to be handed to me, but if I outplay 4 people over the course of a match AND there are still generators to be completed AND we’re both waiting for it to open then killer should absolutely have a few moments to close the hatch before it can be used by the survivor.
2 -
It still is but I'M being held hostage.
I can't kill one of the last two guys bc I have to search for the other one.

I really wish it was like the old days and had a 2 gens must be done for hatch to spawn.
1 -
Nope, you dont have to. It is your decision to slug and search for the fourth guy. The game is also not hold hostage at this point, because the Survivor on the ground will bleed out and the Hatch will open, which means you can either close it or the Survivor will get it.
Like, just hook the 3rd person. If Hatch did not spawn the Killer has every advantage to find the Hatch first (faster and does not have to hide). And it is not really worth to prolong a game so much just for the fourth Kill when you already won anyway and can go to the next game.
3 -
9/10 times 3 kills doesn’t get you an adept achievement. Also at that point you’ve earned a 4K. Why should it get to the end of the game and suddenly be an even playing field?
1 -
Look if you want to half ass your games thats okay but I won't entertain the notion it's a good mechanic. This is literally there just so survivors stop crying on the forum and sending hate mail to good killers.
"It's so the game isn't held hostage" are you for ######### real ? XD hahahahahaha dude if the 4 of you couldn't get out it isn't my problem change game.
You ARE being hostage this is the entire point of the game! XD

The real question is why haven't people filed a report on the entity clearly we are are being held hostage in these trials.

It seems like you dont understand this topic. This is fine, I will explain it again:
It is not about the Survivor being held hostage. But if you have 1 Survivor left, the Hatch cannot spawn because not enough Gens were done, there might be the situation where the last Survivor just stealths around the Map. If the Killer does not have Whispers, it can be impossible to find the Survivor.
So, what should the Killer do? Wander around the Map to find the Survivor? Not really an option. This can last for hours and while it is rare, it should not happen at all. And it happened back in the day.
This is the reason why the Hatch spawns when not any Gens are done. And thats also why the EGC starts when the Hatch is closed. This is basically the reason why EGC exists in the first place.

Again if you spent more than 5 mins looking for a survivor this isn't the game's fault, change your tracking perks.
It seems like YOU don't understand what I'm saying. Let me be clear, if you were any good this wouldn't change anything.
Seriously, if your argument is "I'll spend hours looking for that survivor" that's weak. Buy whispers or spies from the shadows.

The hatch is just a way to end the game quicker. If tounclose it 50% of the time in your scenario I think that's a pretty balanced mechanic.
If you make it more difficult or one sided then it can prolong the game instead of ending it. Adding your suggestion would mean there is no point to a survivor going near the hatch when a killer is close leaving it up to the killers choice if they wish to prolong it.
This can lead to three scenarios.
The killer finds the hatch and stand their not closing it. The survivor waits for the killer to move hiding from a distance so both parties are just sitting there doing nothing. As it is now kilkers want to close the hatch as a survivor can be sneaky and take the chance and make it.
The killer stands at the hatch while a survivor does a gen showing the killer where they are. Try evading and get to the hatch first or killer closes it knowing roughly where they were.
The killer closes the hatch and starts the egc or the survivor finds it first and escapes.
Number 3 is the best case scenario as it forces the game to end.
After years of hatch standoff's the devs came up with a system which removes them and I really don't think a change to make it possible to prolong the game again is a good idea. It's a game just move onto the next match.

It never happened to me. Maybe you should not base your arguments on assumptions. But yeah, I guess there is no point to discuss. If you want to have a 4K every game, this will not be possible. And it does not matter tbh, if you stomp the Survivors so that they dont get any Gens done, you won already.
But like I said, not open for an endless discussion when one part is not really able to think ahead.

"This never happened to me...assumptions"
Dude you're the one who brought it up. Also no EGC was made so survivors couldn't loop endlessly once the gates were open.
It had nothing to do with the hatch, the rework wasn't even released at the same time. Lol

The hatch closing mechanic as introduced with the egc. The original hatch closing test caused hostage situations so they went back to the drawing board and came up with the egc.
The whole idea of the egc was to end the game quicker for both hatch standoffs and players staying in the game after the gates were opened.

No.

I see someone found my hatch idea lol

@Blackowt_9120 yeah.. asking the devs to put in a few second delay so you can win the battle between survivor and killer at the hatch is asking the Devs to hand you the 4K.
Just slug that 3rd survivor and go find the 4th survivor if you want your 4K so bad. IF you didn't catch that last survivor from going out the hatch... then did you deserve it?... cause there are ways to stop it from happening depending how sweaty you're getting.
Also just to point out.. just like survivors escaping... You either make it out... or not. You either get a 4K or not.... If you didn't get the escape, then did you deserve it as survivor? As killer, if you didn't get the 4K cause you didn't play it right, do you deserve it?
1 -
No, it really isn’t. A few second delay or even a ONE second delay wouldn’t effect the survivor finding the hatch first and escaping. What it would effect are games where as a killer you can’t hit a survivor or do anything other than hope you win a coin flip.

@Blackowt_9120 What you are asking for is when both killer and survivor are at the closed hatch, waiting for the 3rd to die on the hook. Who gets the prompt first? You are asking that the killer always win that situation.
0 -
Yes. You can’t hit them or they get it. That situation, and ONLY if there are incomplete generators that let the killer get a chance at priority.
meaning that if the exit gates are powered, it’s still a coin flip situation.
and being as survivors can have perks and items that let them find the hatch as well as keys could be brought or found that let you open it and escape instantly, it wouldn’t be unfair and you aren’t handing the killer a 4K.

3 kills is still a victory. The reason survivors keep getting nerfed is because killer mains keep complaining about everything, even though they win.

Meh. You don't NEED to kill everyone friend. I know it feels good, but it's silly to think you will kill everyone. This is a horrible idea for balance, and is really to hard on Survivors.
Also, no, it's cause back in the day Survivors had the world. I can show you proof if you like. Alot of there "nerfs" were removing broken parts of the game.

Nope

wow. 10/10 most insightful response ever....

i can be happy with a 3k. I can even be happy with a 2k if that’s what I earned. My issue is with situations where the last survivor is rewarded not for beating me to a hatch, or finishing objectives, but for getting lucky because the killer has been forced into a powerless position. You can’t chase them off, you can’t down them, it’s 50%- which basically means it’s survivor favored

Oh? And blocking them from doing anything is fair?

End Game Collapse
- Closing the hatch instantly powers up the exit gates.
- End Game Collapse starts when an exit gate is opened or when the Killer closes the hatch.
- End Game timer starts at 2 minutes. Timer is slowed down when a Survivor is downed or hooked.
- Survivors are sacrificed by the Entity when the timer expires. These sacrifices count as kills.
- The Killer can now open a powered up exit gate.
- The hatch always spawn as soon as there is 1 Survivor left in the trial.
Notice the last line in the notes above and the link to the actual notes 😉.
The hatch was changed with the egc as well as giving killers the ability to open the gates themselves. Like I said the egc's whole design was to simply end the game quicker and remove any chance of a standoff or hostage situation.
I am not saying anyone has to like every aspect of it but there is no denying what it's design purpose was.
