3.3.0 update or double bp later this week or we riot
Dear devs
The dissappointment from at least 3/4 of the community is insane
Unexpected issues are unpredictable and this is fine, but we can not wait another week, halloween period is now, not only the 29 30 and 31
There are 2 choices very smart to do so.
1) working hard and release the patch/event later this week
2) release a double bloodpoints event and meanwhile working on the update.

I agree. At least a double BP event would mitigate things a little bit.
16 -
You need to chill lol.
1) They said that they had to delay it to fix a few things. While a lot of us were hyped for the update on Tuesday i’m sure most us would rather the update be playable and not full of bugs.
2) They don’t owe us anything, you should just be grateful that they’re giving us this. They don’t have to.

I prefer option 1, option 2 will make me not wanna play this game even more
2 -
Bugs or not we have tons of them. Like that would matter remember a joke name is "Bugged by Daylight"

Dear BHVR,
Lets work out a good deal! You don't want to be responsible for disappointing thousands of people and I don't want to be responsible for destroying the auric cell economy - and I will.
I have worked hard to solve some of your problems. Don't let the world down. You can make a great deal.
History will look upon you favourably if you get this done the right and humane way. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don't happen. Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!
I will call you later

I see what you did there. And I upvoted it.

If it's not ready, It's not ready. It's disappointing for sure but they don't Have to do anything.
That said, they probably should have had something planned too lessen the upset the delay would cause. They could easily do a Double BP event, I'm not sure why they didn't It seems like the obvious choice.

dont care about double blodpoints.
Just give me the cosmetic event aight :)
0 -
Double bp would hype it up aswell so I'm all for that

"Turns head" someone say riot?
Grab your pitchforks!! We're going to fooking Canada!!
No no... in all seriousness let's just allow them to fix whatever is needed of fixing so we can have a pleasant gaming experience................................"clears throat"
7 -
that sounds like extra work, they would never do that lol.
1 -
The event is something the devs work hard on which changes up some things within the game and give us something to work towards for free. Events are always a bonus and not something any dev has to do but rather chose too.
Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Always be grateful for the events when and if they appear.
The notion that we can demand a release date or deserve more because of a delay for a free event due to unforseen problems is quite frankly absurd.
13 -
I know what you mean, this whole exchange has been rather absurd:
BHVR: Hey guys, we're giving away presents to our players!
Community: Awesome guys!
BHVR: *Background Chatter* Whoa, wait a sec. *More Chatter* Sorry guys we're having a problem making sure that the gifts are wrapped properly, you guys can wait a little longer, right?
Community: We're gonna get extra gifts because the first gifts were late, right?
It all just seems really childish, you know?

Honestly, you people demanding some kinda od double blood points or compensation for something being bugged and them WANTING TO FIX IT really gets on my nerves. Why the hell are you wanting to thrash the Devs for LITERALLY EVERYTHING?! Do you THINK they want to mess up there own game or piss off the community? Heck no! But it seems like yall will be pissy no matter what. I honestly don't see how the Devs put up with us, if they don't care like yall say they don't They'd just shut the servers down and tell us to jump off a cliff. I don't say this word often, but you all need to quit being so entitled and thinking the whole fricken world owes you cause ONE THING WENT WRONG AND THEY WANT TO FIX IT! Things happen! Grow up.
In fact, let me add this post i'm borrowing from @NMCKE
If they released Dedicated Servers and etc., you will instead hear this from everyone, "Ugh, great year BHVR, you gave us terrible servers," "Thank you for the poor Halloween Event BHVR," "Poor summer event BHVR, as expected," and so on — the forums will be on fire if BHVR released an incomplete project. It seems like BHVR gets the blame regardless of what they do, so please, chillax, stay positive 😕
BHVR is doing the best they can, and I wished y'all took a different point of view instead of pointing fingers at BHVR 24/7.
I'm just going to leave this here, I will always stand beside @MandyTalk's quote:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/617101#Comment_617101
The Developers care greatly about their player base and are constantly striving to keep both "sides" happy. They also care greatly about the game that THEY created.
They give regular updates, answer as many questions as possible about things they can discuss - obviously they cannot discuss up and coming stuff because all of that is kept secret. They share their time and as much information as they possibly can. You can also find them in a lot of streams talking to the Community, answering questions and helping people as much as possible.
They are trying to please so many people at once from different sides of the game and for someone to say that they're just trying to infuriate people is frankly incredibly disappointing - I expected better from the Community than that.
That sums this up perfectly. DO you want something rushed and broken (like Legion nerfs) or would you like something THAT WORKS?!
10 -
I don't see how the rudeness is necessary. Everyone here is working hard to get it ready as soon as possible. This is one of the biggest updates in a long time combined with an engine update. Some things went wrong and we wouldn't feel comfortable putting the update out in the state it's in. I'm sorry if this is disappointing to you, but shoving the update out the door right now isn't a better option.
As far as the event goes, everything will still be happening according to plan, just slightly after it was originally planned. You won't lose any days, the end date will be shifted back to match.

I will have to agree with u we need something and what twistedmonkey said I don't agree with him
Yes it is a free event BUT every game has free events. It's not special BHVR isn't either, they made a game we love and play daily, we spend money on it cuz we love it, BUT when u say there will be an event a lag behind cuz of some unseen problem then u need to do something that says ur sry like extra bloodpoints like u meantioned or get the problem fixed immediately cuz spooktober won't last forever and not giving us something is making us have to play alot more to earn it than wat we need to in fear we miss it.
They need to do something now to keep us happy cuz if u make ur players upset and not try to fix it then u might just lose players if u keep upset ur buyers
So I agree with both options cuz it's not our job to be patient yes we can wait a couple of days or maybe just almost a week but BHVR has a job to do and they messed up.
I can wait but I myself is also getting impatient

I don't mind waiting for the event (these things happen) but my planned killer outfit this year includes the ornate trapper mask.
Will be (rightfully) furious if unable to wear it...
1 -
Can we atleast know what the issue is?
2 -
This. Do you remember how the sound was? That was the single worst sound i've heard in a game, and there is no way i'd be able to play it if it stayed like that.
1 -
Feeling entitled? To a certain extent. I was also dissapointed that there is a delay with the release, as I was kind of hyped up about this event. Anyhow, I'll point out that I am fairly new to the game and especially these forums but I see a lot of back and forth communication from people in the dev team/community managers which is a good thing. Whether they do or not whatever people suggest, is up to them and what they think is best for their game. Sometimes they may be in the wrong, but guess what? Everyone screws up at some point. Isn't that the case with most, if not all games?
I believe that those of you who love the game and enjoy playing it (whenever it doesn't get you tilted lol) will understand that it's way better providing constructive criticism instead of screeching "omg gimme my compensation, this is unacceptable, you've failed us" yada yada.
The bottom line is, hold them accountable if you have to, just don't be a **** about it.
3 -
That mindset only really works when money has changed hands when the terms of said promised transaction has been broken. No money has changed hands for this event. It's an extra that they never have to give so they don't owe us anything.
The time frame the events start may have been delayed but the overall promise of the event hasn't changed.
Imagine a family member ordering you a gift and it doesnt arrive on time so you expect them to give you something else while you wait. That is not only highly ungrateful and rude but unethical to expect that.
6 -
Good boy, don't riot because the game is full of #########, completely unbalanced and every patch somehow accomplishes to break the game even further. Cry because the event is delayed.
2 -
I'm sick of the "they don't owe us anything" response, too. But from a BUSINESS standpoint, they're unreliable when it comes to release dates, communications, and clear responses. Bugs or not, it's still somewhat irresponsible to keep claiming things they can't hold up to, like when things are, how they work, etc. I love DbD, but for example, I was so excited to get the Saw chapter and waited and waited and hyped it and GOT hyped based on their announcements and schedule. Took me almost 2 days to finally get Amanda and the game working right.
So really, enough being SJWs and let people express themselves. BHVR really DOES need to do something about their services. They claim to want to be transparent but we always get pieces of pertinent information at a time.
10 -
And they can right now play the game they paid for for those hundreds of dollars.
This event is not part of what they bought.
This event is a free extra on top of what they paid for. They dont have to do these but they want too. Players being ungrateful and making demands as they have to wait a little bit longer really shows the true nature of what entitlement is.
7 -
Whatever. I'm dropping this. Have fun in the Fog.
0 -
You have 2 choices 1. Gimme 1 billion auric cells and immunity from taking damage forever in dbd or 2. Me uninstall.
On a serious note, mistakes happen randomly in everything in life. Let's be reasonable and not throw a tantrum before they can actually address the issue. Let them fix it instead of demanding answers and demanding double Bloodpoints.
4 -
It's been less than a day since they announced the halloween update was gonna be delayed and you're all here with your pitchforks making demands. Just give them some time instead of being ungrateful. Maybe next time they shouldn't do a halloween update and see how you like it then.
3 -
Trying to attack people who think differently never props up an argument it actually has the adverse effect and generally shows they have no way to refute the discussion at hand.
Whether it's BHVR or any other company something for free is and always will be an extra and I will always say the same be it EA, BLIZZARD, Ubisoft. It's not about white knighting it's about common sense and being grateful for any opportunity to even play in free events rather than demanding them.
What ones feels entitled too does not change the fact it's not part of what they actually paid for.

Dude get over yourself. Delays happen. They don't owe you a damn thing.
4 -
Yeah I’m not rioting. Stop feeling entitled. They are doing their best to get the next update to us. Just be patient.
4 -
After not having a bbq event, waiting a bit for a full halloween event is fine. They could just nix it altogether and say "heres your patch, ungrateful shits".
They don't have a deadline or contract WITH US to deliver. The fact they tell us about things ahead of time is a COURTESY. Yet people take it and make it the hard coded timeline.
3 -
You know guys, threads like these almost make me sad BHVR interactive's stock is in a private market, it would be funny as heck to watch this community's bickering make the ticker do the worm daily.
0 -
Family getting gifts on birthdays and christmas is a surprise?
I'd say it's rather expected...
0 -
I'd rather wait a bit for something that works. Nothing is set in stone. Double BP's would be nice, but Behaviour has no obligation to give us that
1 -
Look at it this way folks, either way BHVR was gonna be in trouble with the issues. So they had 2 options:
Release a broken event and just let the community suffer through it and rage on the forums
or
Delay the event to ensure customer satisfaction knowing the delaying the event would case rage on the forums.
Either way, BHVR was getting burned and guess what? They chose the route that hurts us the least. I understand that a number of people called out of work or took time off for this and I get that you're frustrated. But, be happy that you're being frustrated that the event is going to be fashionably late and not broken and here.
3 -
You know they don't have to do anything they could cancel the event and call it a day
0 -
In what way have I attacked people? I have used arguments to explain why we should be grateful for these events, why we are never entitled to them and why some demanding something for free is disrespectful in nature.
This whole discussion shows todays society at it's worst. When something is given for free and some personally start to expect more it shows the value of a simple act of generosity is being lost.
The value of something for free is never about what you get out of it or wish it to be but that you have been giving the opportunity to get it at all.
3 -
Most of the upset comes from poor communication, and people are aloud to be frustrated by that. A lot of folks were already bummed to find out the event would be so late in the month, and to find out the day before that the event is not happening feels like a smack in the face to the people who planned time out of their work/school week to play the event.
This isn’t just people being impatient, I’m willing to wait as are many others. More than 24 hours notice would have caused less of a stir. As would a new release date.
Im gonna cut them some slack here because I know these are some of the most transparent devs out there usually, they normally are pretty good at letting us know what’s going on. This was an oopsie, I will forgive it. Hopefully they don’t leave us in the dark for a week, it’ll just cause more upset if they do.
3 -
"Or we riot!" You mean what is normally happening anyway?
0 -
Take the time.
Make it shiny.
But i'm genuinely interested in those "unforseen circumstances".
Did an intern delete the master branch or what ? :)
0 -
It's dissapointing, yes, but if they felt the need to push it back then you know it would've been completely unplayable in the current state. BHVR wouldn't have delayed it just to polish or detail it! *Insert black panther "we don't do that here" meme*
I understand both sides of the argument:
This event is an awesome content update that we're going to enjoy free of charge. They do not *have* to do this and even with the delay, we will have the same amount of time to play and get the cosmetics. I don't see the big deal here.
On the other hand, BHVR isn't necessarily doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They're doing this to remain competitive and relevant in the current gaming market; this is a business decision people, do not delude yourselves thinking they do this simply because they like you. This delay on the release, and especially the lack of follow up information show a poorly organized and not very transparent operation.
TL;DR
We can wait out the delay, it's not the end of the world and double BP won't really make us feel much better. But these type of things add to the extensive list of BHVRs poor decision making, resource management, and planning, and I'm sure people are more upset at the constant way they do things poorly than just this event delay as an isolated incident (I know I am).
Hope everyone has a good day and also hope the event isn't delayed for too long.
0 -
Jeez, why don't we all chill. It's just delayed and not cancelled.
2 -
Sure getting things delayed sucks. But as mentioned before, i'd rather them take a few days or so to work things out and put out a better update and event. There is no need to spread hate or be toxic towards the devs, lol.
1 -
I can wait a few days more, but I would appreciate a little bit more detail about the issue that caused the delay. Was it a serious bug that needed to be fixed or due to the power outage? Etc. etc....
It would make understanding the delay much easier for all.
2 -
The lack of a detailed explanation for the delay makes it look like the battlepass system is responsible for this but they can't publicly say this or people might get (rightfully) upset.
1 -
Then flip on that double bloodpoint switch to appease us for now
0 -
You're still gonna buy the rift pass.
You're still gonna buy their upcoming DLC's.
You're still going to buy cosmetics in the shop.
You're still gonna play the game.
Stay in your lane.
2 -
you forgot a few ,
You're still gonna have to deal with bugs from updates .
You're still gonna have to deal with things broken from updates .
You're still gonna complain .
And my favorite , If you don't like it you can always go play civ 5...
1 -
Nope. Not supporting BHVR anymore with my money after this and neither will my group of friends who quit DBD and thought of returning with the new Halloween event, but guess what? It got delayed because of mistakes on BHVR's end.
That was potential for them to make money right there, gone.
That was potential for them to retain older players, gone.
That was potential for free marketing, gone.
I can go on, but I think that should be a good of enough gist.
If you think everyone here voicing their concerns is still going to be buying their upcoming DLCs and rift pass (which plenty of other games are doing as well) then you have no idea how wrong you are. Sure, many will continue to play, but I can assure you with each continued failure from BHVR, they not only lose costumers, but they also lose parts of their community.
Think about this. BHVR continually releases patches with bugs in them. Let's take Stranger Things into consideration here since it is the most recent update. Have you been around any of the Bug Report sections? Frequent unstable DC's, party problems, matchmaking problems, gamebreaking bugs such as not being able to escape exit gate, no wiggle/attempt, no skill checks appearing, etc. Not to mention they haven't even fixed the trophies/achievements (Let alone publicly acknowledge it) that have been bugged since the summer.
Now if THAT gets released, WHAT do YOU think could have caused BHVR to not release the event on time? If they delayed it because of bugs but didn't delay the Stranger Things update even though it came with a ton of bugs/unfixed bugs, what king of bug(s) do you think could have caused this delay?
Now, expecting something in return isn't at all ridiculous. I don't care what it is they do, but something even if it's just something that helps newer players only such as double BP event being longer than usual would be appropriate. Heck, I would think it's not hard for them to tell us on the same day that they last second mentioned a delay for the event when they actually expect it to come out. Even that is enough. But nope, all we get is a 'sorry, it's delayed, no ETA'.
I, like most people here voicing their opinions, understand that mistakes happen. However, when these mistakes are consistently being reproduced instead of their promises being delivered, it isn't excusable any longer.
