New Killer Idea: The Darkness (Very strong power. Very difficult to use)
This creature of the night is shrouded in a black, misty fog, through which you barely make out the form of his body. 2 piercing eyes are clearly visible.
His weapon is a spear that forms from within the shroud to pierce straight forward, stabbing the victim for a basic attack.
His power is EchoLocation. (The point of this power is to be very powerful, but also very difficult to use effectively. I’m completely open to suggestions for edits.)
When The Darkness activates his EchoLocation power, nearby players hear a bat-like screech. His eyes become hazy and his spear forms from the shadows, longer than normal, and grows a barb. The killer also experiences a significant boost to running speed (not sure on numbers).
Drawbacks:
- EchoLocation has a significant activation and deactivation time, as well as a cooldown between uses.
- When active, nearly the entire screen is blacked out by dark, opaque fog. The only visible view of the environment is around the perimeter of this foggy rectangle. (Example: if you’re screen is 10 units across, the visible portion would be 1.5 units on each side, as well as a similar but narrower border on the top and bottom.)
- Scratch marks/blood are not visible in the blacked-out portion, of the screen. (There could be an add-on for this though!)
- Pallets will be a huge concern during chases.
Benefits:
- The killer can see the auras of nearby survivors (say, within 32 meters?) in the blacked-out portion of the screen. Though he can’t see much of the environment, he can watch the actions of the auras he’s chasing to anticipate where obstacles/vaults/etc might be. Walking sideways or sweeping the view back and forth can also help him visually see what’s out there through the margin of the screen.
- Impaling a survivor with the barbed spear fully impales them. They are stuck on the spear and carried as he chases other auras. If he stabs another survivor, they are stacked atop the first one.
Other Details:
- Survivors on the spear may still struggle, though the struggle speed is only 15% of normal and they don’t affect the Darkness’s movement. Each time another survivor is added to the stack, the struggle progress is reset and the struggle speed is reduced by 5%. 4 impaled survivors means no more struggle.
- Each survivor on the spear slows the killer’s movement speed. His bonus speed is cancelled out with 1 survivor, and each one thereafter slows him down more and more below standard speed.
- There is no timer for this mode. When the killer decides to end EchoLocation, he will automatically dump all stacked survivors onto the ground in a pile, with all of them in the dying state. -EXCEPTION- If he has stacked all 4 survivors, he will automatically end his power after 15 seconds. Once on the ground, he must still carry each survivor to a hook one-by-one.
This is the general idea. If you guys like it, I’ll try to think up some ideas for perks and add-ons.
So? What do you think?

I think a swamp like creature would suit the idea for the power of echolocation
