You don't have to play them in the grindy way, except when you do. Assuming you enjoy both sides of the game. Without the challenges shards the rift's overall goal is significantly more grindy as well. If I didn't have work I could do during the 10+m queues for killer I would be even more frustrated at this.

They're very grindy and will just get more grindy. They're punishing you for wanting to finish the rift without paying.

PC allows for a testing ground and I don't believe they have to PAY to update their game on it. On playstation and xbox they do have to pay out per update. Crossplay would be cool, but they'd be losing utility. Unless test realms were separated entirely.

Killer queues are going to be pretty bad while the rift is up. People who normally play survivor will have to play killer to do all the challenges. I've had the same issue with 15-20m waits for killer queue. Two hours sounds like maybe your lobby bugged out :/

You can literally just bank roll the rift. It would be crazy to do so, but with how slow natural progression is if you work full time and can't spend every other bit of your week on farming the challenges you're not going to get a complete rift.
