Better Perk: Whispers or Deerstalker?
What's good about Deerstalker is that it's good for slugging to prevent DS, so while you think that recently unhooked person has DS, you can leave them in the dying state, knowing where you left them. While you chase another survivor and just count in your head for the remainder of the DS ability and hope by the time you've caught the survivor you're chasing, the recently downed survivor's DS timer would've finished. That way you can run back to them and strategically avoid DS.
On the other hand, Whispers can give you a sound cue for when you're in a survivor's vicinity, giving you hints on where their whereabouts could be. Whispers can semi-counter immerse players and players running Urban Evasion. I see this perk popularly used on Huntress and Spirit, mainly because of their power, but I also see a lot of Huntress mains utilizing deerstalker, which brings me to this question:
In YOUR opinion, without leaving negative comments, which do you think is the best perk between Whispers and Deerstalker?

Whispers is a crutch for me. Can't play right without it.

Whispers 100%
Helps you find the first and last survivor quickly/easily. Helps you zone survivors into areas you want. Let's you know if you are wasting time searching an area for survivors.
Deerstalker is good for slugging that's about it. And even then, Nurse's Calling is a better option because it can be effective for other things besides slugging.

I feel lost without Whispers. It lets me know when I'm in a dead zone, which is invaluable information. Knowing where not to look saves so much time.
Deerstalker was great when I was doing the "Mori 4 survivors" achievement, since it requires slugging for the 4k. It's good if you specifically plan to slug, but otherwise I don't run it. I've used Whispers to find slugged survivors, too, it just requires more effort.

In general, Whispers and it's not close.

I would not bother with deerstalker unless you are playing a very slug heavy killer, like infectious fright hillbilly / oni.
Not sure why people are running whispers over monitor and abuse on spirit though. I don't think she needs help tracking with a 16m terror radius that lets you ambush people at gens almost as good as a stealth killer.

Yeah, I'm going with whispers on this one.

I don't like either, unless I am using a slug build, then I will use Deerstalker. I feel like Whispers has too big of a range. It would be better if it was a smaller radius.

Whispers for me. So many uses, from finding someone quicker to finding the last survivor and everything inbetween. You can check entire sections of the map for survivors without actually entering them and wasting time looking around.
Deerstalker is nice to have but unless you bring a proper slugging build it doesn't really shine, Whispers can fit into basically any loadout with one uncertain slot.

Whispers in most cases. I run Deerstalker all the time on my Huntress, but that's just because she's really good at switching targets. Whispers is good no matter what, but also has some really nice synergy with M&A on killers like Pig and Ghost Face. Once you see Whispers activate, you know you're close to a survivor and can crouch/cloak.

Whispers for sure. Its one of those perks where you might not understand how to use it right away, but with practice...you can pinpoint a survivor's exact location.

Just curious, but how much have you tried using whispers?

Whispers is hands down one of the best time management perks in the game. My favourite thing to do with Whispers is to know when or when not to kick a gen too. If no one is nearby, kicking the gen will provide so much pressure, since you know no one is returning soon. Love this perk on killers with bad tracking (especially Huntress and Nurse)

Whispers is the best killer perk imo.

Yeah, as most people are saying, whispers seems objectively better, I like Deerstalker more though 😚

I would say that there are better perks to use than these 2, but Whispers is better than Deerstalker in most cases.

It has been a long while since I used Whispers. I used to use it a good bit when I first started playing almost 2 years ago. Maybe I should give it another shot.

Whispers. Survivors cannot play around it, and no amount of hiding will save them if you know how to eliminate all possible areas that they can hide using it.
It's probably my go to Killer perk after Ruin.

Whispers is pretty good in pinpointing an exact location if you pay attention to WHEN it turns on, as well as keeping you from wasting time when the perk is off. If your not paying attention to it, look over and notice its on... then you run into your problem of the area is too big to find them.

Definately whispers

I get what you are saying, but even when it first turns on you are dealing with the maximum distance within a radius that the survivor can be in. I get how it may be useful for finding the first person, but it still feels like too big of a space for a person to be in. But, I also don't have much of a problem finding people to begin with. I will try it again though, maybe I can get some use for it on my slower killers.

Thats not entirely true though. When the light pops on, I know they are exactly 32 meters INFRONT of me, as opposed to behind me. I can also move left and right to narrow it down further on if theyre infront and to the left or infront and to the right. If you have a gen thats in that range... Thats why its important to see WHEN it pops on, not just note after the fact that your perk has been on for awhile. If I see WHEN it pops on...theyre 32 meters infront of me, not 15, not 22... If I only notice its on AFTER the fact, they could be anywhere.

I dig it. I am going to give it a shot on my Clown. He is one of the worst for me at hunting. I enjoy playing him, but haven't found a real winning build for him yet. Anything else run will with Whispers??

Whispers is a pretty standalone perk, not something you need synergy with. Its just a matter of knowing how to use the basic info its giving you. Huntress is a common killer to see using it, but its good on Billy as well.

Deerstalker is not worth a perk slot just for ds, unless you are running a slug build. If you are only running deerstalker the downed survivor most likely will get picked up anyway before ds timer is up. Whispers is a good tracking perk with nearly any build, not just to find a downed survivor but to find someone early game and start applying pressure.

Imagine thinking there's any comparison between Whispers and Deerstalker.
Whispers all the way.

I'm in the deerstalker camp. That's a perk that says "I'm going for 4 kills". Whispers can be pretty misleading imho.
0 -
That just shows you don't actually know how to harness the endless power that is whispers.
0 -
"Endless power" is a bit much. I do know how to use whispers. A 32 meter radius is a pretty big area though. 3,215 square meters to be precise. In all reality it's larger than that since it's actually 3D. The volume of a 32 meter radius sphere is 137,189 cubic meters. There aren't too many maps where the 3rd dimension is too relevant though. Lab, Haddonfield and Game really.

It is a big area, but when comparing it to deer stalker, deer stalker only does one thing. Tells you when a survivor is in the dying state. If they are in the dying state and you can't find them in a 32 meter range, welp, I'd say your tracking skills need work, no offense.

i can't stand the noise effect when using whispers
1 -
Yup, that's what I was gonna post. I wear headphones when playing killer and rely heavily on my hearing to track survivors. The entity's whispers are a huge distraction

The point of deerstalker (imho) is to get the 4 kill. You down the 2nd to last survivor and have absolute freedom to hunt the remaining survivor. You can use the downed survivor as bait and circle around looking for any ways to approach him/her. If the other survivor picks up the downed survivor, no biggie. You know exactly where that happened and can easily down the survivor again and know the last survivor is nearby.
Whispers on the other hand is a poor substitute for this effect. You don't know which survivor is being "whispered" about. They have a far higher chance to actually recover in this situation. Now it's 2 against one and you have a good tracking perk. You'll still likely win. But I still feel if the goal is 4 kills then deerstalker is the better perk. I don't deny that whispers is more versatile. I just feel that with my goal in mind deerstalker is the better choice.

Whispers is more usefull overall but deerstalker is stronger when you put it in a specifik slugging build IMO
I personly never really cared for whispers I always felt that it's only usefull at the start of the match and when you have already won
I prefer discordance over whispers honestly
Also a bit of an odd comparisson, other then that they are both tracking perks they are intended for 2 completly different things right?
