Why do the devs love NOED so much?

Wow what a good thing lmao

Probably. The devs generally don't like moving forward with the balance, they just move in circles.

Its unfun to play against imo. You want your overcome to proc and so you wait for a hit and boom. Noed. I think its fine powerwise but its pretty unfun and i dont know how to change it without seriously nerfing it.

Watch a stream of he-who-shall-not-be-named playing killer, then everything will be clear.
0 -
I didn't know the Dark Lord played Killer.
2 -
Exactly......I got a 4k last weekend because the team that were doing a organized hook rush got greedy by healing Infront of me using flashlights.....getting cocky....and deciding to try and play leapfrog body blocking only to each get downed. All I did was dragged each one back away from the door and hooked them one at a time. The funny part I was playing Oni and they accused me of camping the hook when they all rushed in before their buddy was finished screaming.
2 -
I think you just shouldn't try to proc overcome at endgame?
1 -
I have to disagree with your assessment there. That isn't NOED's fundamental flaw, that's facecamping's fundamental flaw. It's already a problem that already warrants fixing regardless of which perk helps it along, and since every perk that helps with facecamping isn't a problem on its own, I really don't think it's a good idea to balance any perk around a problematic aspect of the game that everyone, devs included, want to disincentivise and remove as much as possible.

Literally every killer build I've seen them use
1 -
And that could still be easily circumvented with idea that has been proposed for over a year now, a token system on noed.
For each time a survivor is hooked, not hookstates, it gains a token up to 8 (or eleven, even when it would be neglectable at that point).
The hex totem still only lits up once the token are usable aka when the gates are powered.

To be completely honest, if you want to make survivors cleanse totems to get Pentimento value, bring Ruin/Undying and/or Plaything. Something that introduces hex perks so that survivors decide to cleanse totems, otherwise there's not a super huge incentive to cleanse any at all

Imagine not following Voldemort on Twitch.

The way NOED is designed achieves the exact opposite though. It is objectively better to leave dull totems up, if you want to counter NOED.
1 -
Dead Hard should be removed, although I play it often. I don't care about NOED and I don't know why people are still complaining about it, but I don't mind if it's removed either because I'll never play it. I don't like endgame perks because I prefer perks that are useful throughout the match.
1 -
The only way I could see NOED being nerfed but still maintaining it's power is to have some sort of prerequisite. Make the killer earn it before it can activate, like someone mentioned earlier, get 8 hooks and earn a token for each hook. If the killer has 8 tokens by the time the gates activate, the hex is applied to a dull totem. This way, it rewards good play, and still acts as an endgame perk. Hook states =/= Hooks btw, every hook counts as one token, if a survivor progresses to 2nd stage or 3rd stage, the killer does not obtain additional tokens.

xD xD xD
I love you survivors, with such changes wishes you always know exactly that here never played against really really good groups or at all seriously killer, but only against casual players who turn on the game 1 or 2 times a week
why not also adapt the decision stroke to this white?
why should someone who is just walking around have a decision blow?
the survivor must make 2 generators, heal another completely 15 times and then may use Decision Strike
honestly stop complaining about Noed
if you dominate the whole round and the killer gets the whole round nothing on the row and he then on the basis of a perk you have finished simply what done wrong
ps:
i apologize for my poor english

That's a fun spin on what I said. Interesting to turn "it's about half a dozen people on the forums who like making the same thread" into some sort of "they don't matter" nonsense.
I'm not saying that anyone's opinion doesn't matter. What I am saying is that it has to be looked at logically and weighed against the actual available data.
The OP claimed that "everyone" hates noed. My reply was primarily to point out that just isn't true. There are a lot of noed threads, but they are made by the same 6 people making the same 6 threads repeatedly, which should be taken into account when trying to find if "everyone" has a strong opinion one way or another.

At 8 hooks you're probably already winning if the gates aren't literally opened.

This content has been removed.

Okay i guess you three are all talking about the idea i mentioned earlier in this post, the token system for noed.
But i guess Rubb3r misunderstood. I meant for each token your earn you have one hit with instant down applied. Not that noed is only activated after 8 tokens. That would make it less viable than devour hope.

Just to clear this up, the Design Team has many sections and some work on Live balance, some work on perks, killers etc. But it's a team at the end of the day and working on that particular section doesn't mean that person makes the final decisions. There are people above them, Lead Game Designer, Design Director, Creative Director etc who have the final say on things.

Man, these NOEDS really pop up every day...
You want it to be unfair but it is not.
You decide that you ignore it during the match. You know it exists. You decide you don´t want to cleanse totems during the match.
As stated good teams have no real problem as they remember the totems and cleanse it only when NOED pops up.
And also stated the match isn´t over when the last gen is done. You know the killer could have endgame perks.
And from all the real endgame perks NOED is not really one, as you could have cleansed all totems during the match.

NOED won't be too much of an issue for solo queue once they add the icons for what survivors are doing. ATM it's very hard to track how many totems are left without small game and the only real worthwhile totem perk is detectives so you can't run 2 entire totem perks.

I would be okay with NOED disappearing forever. If that would also mean that DH also disappears.
I never use NOED, it's pointless. On the other hand DH is ever present and quite annoying when it's already hard to outmaneuver survivors with many killers and in many places and they escape anyway.
I mean, I get it against a blight, but why would you ever use DH against a wraith or clown. Its just wrong.

We should do something similar with dead hard, make survivors take protection hits, lets say maybe 3, before they can use it, instead of being a bs crutch
1 -
A one hit down with increased speed and few pallets. Totally busted perk
0 -
Who's fault is it if the survivors waste every pallet on the map?
0 -
Or bring back old MoM and ds so killers ask survs to use dh instead
0 -
and what do you want survs to do? Pray for their lives?
0 -
For the love of God, tell them to nerf noed. I have 4.700 and I play against killer with less than 100, and only because they have noed
0 -
Again, i didn't mean the 8 token as a threshold for the perk to activate but as the number of ones hot hits the perk provides.
But i wouldn't expect either form to be implemented.
0 -
Not immediately pre-drop every pallet just because the killer is 10 feet behind them would be a start. If they do pre-drop and waste them all, rather than wait to drop the pallet until it will actually save them from getting hit, then it's on them when there aren't any pallets left to drop.
1 -
Rarely, either they dont have it or I play conservatively enough that almost im never the one affected by it, after someone gets downed I just open the gates and escape.
0 -
(shrug)
It's a new player perk.
using it shows that you're new or really in need of a kill (for archives or whatever).
I'm not really bothered by it, but I don't use it as killer unless I'm doing a cruel endgame build.
edit: also, I'm pretty sure it was meant to counter adrenaline and not dead hard.
1 -
4000 hours and you cant get all 5 totems by yourself?
3 -
I dont think noed needs to change. I believe survs should stop bitching about noed. There are far more broken and tiresome perks than noed. Some which have very little counter play. Noed has a decent amount of counter play. So yeaaaa...
2 -
After reading through all this, I think that NOED should be implemented into every of my build and that NOED actually should be baseline.
These days a lot of survivors get super cheeky once all gens are popped and you can do nearly nothing to prevent a well coordinated escape. And I know that most survivors ignore totems, so yeah, maybe I will give NOED another go.
1 -
It's weird. On paper the boon meta should make it so that noed is a non-issue entirely. I mean, it can't overwrite a booned totem, and survivors booning totems clearly know where they are, so it should be a simple matter to find the single lit one after the gens are done.
In practice it seems like boons have made a lot of people forget that dull totems have a purpose beyond anchoring survivor perks, to the point where they BM each other for the crime of actually doing bones.
1 -
I mean yea this too. The fact boon totems can basically make it so noed cant pop up
1 -
That would make noed close to useless. I think thats a change thats way too dramatic. One change to maybe make it more fair is let survs know the second the last gen is powered, but for compensation let it have 2 totems that need to be cleansed. that would make it a more consistent perk for all parties involved i think.
1 -
this is true but it's hard to believe there isn't some degree of bias when there's already an example of a perk being nerfed because this person didn't like going against it. huntress lullaby used to be a decent perk, you know.
1 -
Okay I don't think that's completely fair.
Lullaby was always terrifble
1 -
I hardly get any boon users in my games. At the very least I'll get one boon every few games. I think people have finally started to realize they just aren't that good.
0 -
I would love to see the recordings of that. I haven't had a match that didn't at least have 2 people booning totems since the witch came out.

NoED is probably the best common perk out there, and is one of the only things new players can bring that can give them a realistic chance of getting at least one kill when thrown into full loadout lobbies. Everyone has access to it from the beginning, doesn't require unlocking teachables, and it's pretty damn strong. As a new killer who just got the game, what are your perk choices that are going to actually help you? Out of all the common perks, NoED is the best choice. Chances are, you're not going to be able to stop the survivors from finishing their gens, at least NoED gives you a chance to get a kill after the game is basically over. I think it's fine the way it is, though I kind of frown on experienced players bringing it. It's basically a crutch perk for newer players, if I see you got 1200 hours on your profile and still run NoED, I just frown.
NoED also teaches (the hopefully also new) survivors a thing or two about the importance of totems.
2 -
Wow, how dare killer players get one second chance perk. Only survivors are allowed to have 100,000 second chance perks
2 -
There's no warning or totem counter.
0 -
Then you really should know better.
2 -
Sore losers whom expect to escape because they got to endgame but then don't is the only reason people hate on NOED. That's all it is.
You can see even the OP is looking for an echo chamber not a discussion about NOED, they open with everybody thinks it needs to change and that's just not true. Plenty of players can deal with NOED, think its fine and can also deal with losing to it.
NOED makes the endgame threatening, its not unfun it's exciting to play against it and a last attempt to get kills as killer in the dieing moments. Stop expecting to escape or thinking you deserve to escape just because the gens got done.
2 -
It's not some oppressed minority its a video game for gods sake.
The people whining about NOED commonly share the same theme "I expected to escape but didn't boo hoo nerf noed. delete NOED, etc etc its rarely something practical or even a real discussion its just boo hoo I lost.
That's does make for valid opinion. Minor or Major.
