Devs acknowledging gen speed
Quite satisfying to see that they confirmed what Killers were saying: gens are too fast.
Now gens take 90 seconds instead of 80.
Gen rush was a thing, and they were aware of it which is nice specially against those "apply pressure" claims.
Can't wait to play the new meta.

But they also buffed perks that increase gen repair speed. So...
20 -
Can't wait to play it too, when are these changes coming? Like October or something?
0 -
Increasing Gen Speeds without increasing the Hook Timer just made camping more viable.
80 -
awesome, can't wait. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do on these type of updates. I can't imagine the logistics.
8 -
So soon? I already know what I'm doing next Tuesday 17:00 CET xD

On top of that, they removed the BBQ bloodpoint bonus. Which completely removes the killers incentive to leave the hook for the additional bloodpoints.
32 -
This is fine. It was a weak incentive anyway, because the Killer can camp and tunnel one Survivor and STILL get the Bonus BPs. If Bonus BPs would not have been awarded after tunneling one person out, it would have been better.
But I see Killer Main Streamers with a dead Survivor and only one or two Stacks of BBQ all the time, because they can still get their Bonus BPs later.
And removing the BPs from BBQ and WGLF is fine, if the grind gets reduced that much. BBQ will still be useful, but only on mobility Killers.
16 -
BBQ is trash now. Well, both WGLF and BBQ are. The aura reading on itself is to weak in comparison with Bitter Murmur or Darkness Revealed.
20 -
They should have buffed the aura reading duration to compensate.
7 -
A full hook is two minutes, ten seconds longer on generators won't make camping more viable.
7 -
Pretty much.
7 -
You gave survivors basekit BT and killers got nothing... Also you destroyed all of our gen regress perks
4 -
What do you mean killers got nothing? Killers were buffed and survivors nerfed. Don't be a cornball. Gens take longer now, of course they will nerf gen regression perks.
23 -
They are buffing gen speedperks so doesnt really matter that 10 seconds does it? We get what 2% faster kicks ..oh wow :D
1 -
Perhaps, but it also means you have to actually help your teammate instead of just "finishing the last 50% of that gen" then going for the unhook and still only losing one hook state. Imo this is a fantastic change, survivors should have to work together to survivor, not split up on gens and M1 for 3min.
4 -
Yeah, except when the Killer is camping, the best thing is to do Gens. Now blatant facecampers have it even easier to get Kills, because Survivors will take longer to do Gens.
Add things like Deadlock or NOED (which also did not really get nerfed and will still 100% activate and give value, because there is even less time to cleanse 5 Dulls on top of doing 5 Gens...) and maybe facecamping will now grant a guaranteed 3K instead of a 2K.
16 -
Well see how it is in PTB changes, they are trying to make the game better for killer obviously. If changes are needed, it will be made, along with tunneling and camping.
2 -
Does anyone else feel like sitting on a gen for around 90s isn't that fun nor engaging? I genuinely don't understand why we still queue survivor over and over again, enjoying the role, despite a significant part of it being to do gens. Has anyone ever thought of alternative objectives to sitting on gens for long amounts of time every game?
21 -
If you're labeling survivors completing the gens too fast as "genrushing" instead of evaluating your own gameplay, those 10 extra seconds wont matter.
5 -
They are truly disconnected from their own game if they think that gen speeds are a problem.
Map design and Individual killer mobility are the issue.
4 -
When you play against well coordinated survivors you can see how busted gen speed is, even without prove thyself.
12 -
I've been in coordinated groups, I see a lack of mobility in M1 killers and map design that prevents them from getting to point A to point B.
So, no the gens themselves aren't "busted".
Because on the flip side, you have more oppressive killers WITH mobility where normal gen speeds with slow downs are too much.
6 -
facts, can't wait for the facecamp meta, title is "camping and tunneling" but there's nothing about camping LUL
4 -
imo if someone had camping in mind this incentive wasn't going to affect that outcome much. Granted I'd prefer if they just made a bonus for fresh survivor hooks basekit. It doesn't need to be the exact same value as BBQ but it would be a good "incentive" to not camp.
I still agree with the change though - They can monitor the perk usage now and change it accordingly for the future.
2 -
PR not giving out information anymore also encourages killers to camp...
1 -
I never play killer but during the ptb im going to play just to show how easy it is to camp with play with your food lol
0 -
They buffed the ######### out of Overcharge as well as small ones to Jolt and Thana. So bullshit killers got nothing. Not to mention they nerfed DS into the ground and made survivors get less distance after a hit.
3 -
yeah, I'm out after these changes. Camping will be even more viable, gen times will make the game more boring, etc. Not to mention what all of these changes will do to solo players...
8 -
10 seconds on all generators, if you have to fix 5 it means 50 extra seconds which is almost a full hook state, it makes a huge difference.
Before this you had to finish 400 seconds of gens between 3 people in 120 seconds, it equaled around 130 worth of gens for each Survivor, now you have to fix 450 seconds between the same 3 people in the same 120 seconds, which equals 150 seconds, before this if you had a certain amount of work you could finish all gens before the hooked person croaked now its going to be impossible, plus travel time to each gen times.
Right now you need around 2 gens worth of progress to be able to fix everything before the guy croaks for example 2 gens at 75% and 1 at 50%, after this you are going to need a lot more, which is almost impossible, its very are to get 3 gens worth of progress before the first down unless the Killer sucks badly.
5 -
What game will you be playing?
May I recommend Evil Dead, it's actually really fun and dare I say less 'toxic'. 😜
6 -
I've watched some gameplay and it looked pretty fun. Haven't gotten around to trying it out yet though. Less toxic? Sounds amazing! I've been busy selling my house and moving into another one. I'll most likely check it out when I have more time.
0 -
It is a ton of fun! and also congrats on the new home! :)
And yeah, less toxic, for one, they don't have post match chat. You can't communicate with the demon (killer). lol
Let me know if you decide to get it, and we can team up!
2 -
I'm aware this will come as a surprise to you but most killers don't actually enjoy camping, they do it because they feel currently it is required to even have a chance at higher MMR, if they had the option to not do it and still have a chance to win they would. You're problem is you assume the worst about Killer players and that they just want to ruin your experience, in all honesty the killer playerbase is a lot nicer and more wholesome than the vast majority of the survivor playerbase. Either way it doesn't matter because apparently the devs disagree with you.
15 -
They did not address gen speed if anything they made it worse all you will see in games now is gen rushing builds with tool boxes and brand new parts since looping in the game is gone now.
1 -
Maybe the killer who needs to camp is caught by the mmr… if he would play „fair“ maybe he will loose a few games, but than he goes against survivor on the same skill level. With 2-3 kills with camping and noed his mmr goes up and he will even more feels he need to camp.
And if the killerbase is this nice not to camp cause they have it easier like you say, whats happen if they camp further? ez 4k always
3 -
What say you about the killers who do enjoy it and know they can take someone out of the game by simply enforcing that playstyle?
Killers. Still. Camp. At. 5. Gens.
Do all of them do it? No, but it still a common trend.
8 -
Or, or, just a thought, perhaps high MMR has shown the devs that the game is unfair towards killers when played effectively and THAT is the reason gen speed is being changed? Shocker I know, if you aren't aware that some form of camping/proxy camping and tunneling is required to beat good survivors then it's because you are neither a good survivor nor a good killer. I do play at high MMR and it can be wildly unfun and unfair, though no fault of your own you can lose 4 gens in 2min for the simple fact that RNG screwed you over. Either way though the devs seem to disagree with you but we will see how things change from the PTB, if they do at all.
2 -
I bet the data shows kill rates would drop to nothing if camping and tunnelling were completely removed.
12 hooking is not possible friends, unless you're willing to sit on gens even longer.
5 -
Which perks are you talking about? I’m not seeing much in the announcement that sounds like survivor gen repairs are getting a boost.
1 -
No they didnt they made it worse now all survivors will do is bring all the gen rush perks and bnp since looping is dead now. GENS JUST GOT A MAJOR BOOST.
1 -
oh boy, i sure am excited to hold m1 for even longer
8 -
Overzealus, Deja Vu and to a certain degree Sole Survivor.
0 -
Their constant release of new gen regression perks was a pretty clear indication they knew it was a problem, but it's nice to see them do something to actively change it outside of perks.
THAT said I think they're overlooking things that people will do to deal with the added time. Toolboxes, Prove Thyself, even things I'm forgetting. But it isn't like gen regression won't still be used so it's probably more than fine. They'll probably be keeping an eye on whatever meta comes from all this, because there will be one
3 -
Yeah it's not gonna do much but as usual survivors are over reacting
2 -
What? Like, Sole Survivor? Where the perk doesn't activate until youre the LAST survivor and you get a 75% gen speed boost? Like, who in the absolute hell does gens when they're the last person? lmao
6 -
Sure, but apparently these perks weren’t seeing much use so if survivors use them now they’re replacing something else in their loadout for it. Buffing a few underused perks to get swapped in to replace other perks that do a similar effect doesn’t increase the net survivor repair speed.
1 -
The bonus of Overzealous is pretty hefty, if the killer has a hex perk.
I'm not saying it's gonna be meta. But a dedicated build could easily make up for the gen speed nerf.
1 -
We’ll see, hard to tell where it’ll all shake out.
0 -
Prove Thyself`s speed bonus is kinda popular. Stacks with Deja Vu and Overzealous.
But yes, we'll see.
