To The Dead By Daylight Devs, A Thank You Letter

Consider this a letter, a thank you letter to the Devs.

Despite my initial opinion of the game, my opinions regarding the game changes, despite my complaints and constant attempts to rework things for better or worse. I'm appreciative of you guys. You may not have all the answers, you may not be perfect. But you are trying, constantly working on a game where a percentage of the player base are loud and entitled and believe that you are helping the other side just because you hate the other side, and even when you make a mistake you will eventually address it. Plus you are still working on a game that was made 6 years ago in a time where this was basically an indie game with no balance in mind and a extremely messy code. Yet you managed to make sense of it to the best of your abilities, consistently listening to feedback despite all the complaints and insults, consistently trying to do your best. For that, I think you. I used to think this game was massively unfun, years ago when I initially got the game I had a lot of issues with it to the point where it was just unfun to play, with infi sabo hooks and such, and at the time I was an exclusive killer guy, since I didn't really have anyone to play with and my survivor games were typically fast and ended up with me dying most of the time sense I didn't have an idea of looping. But, over time you guys have consistently updated the game, increasing the fun value for killer and survivors. Working on many things, and even worked against your initial ideas and reduced the grind for DBD, which was honestly a good change. This game will never truly be perfect for everyone, but I will say this.

Thank you, for developing this game, for constantly updating it, for constantly working despite complaints and controversy. For not giving up in the face of a flood of complaints and threats. For the fun moments that I have with this game. All of this. I sincerely like playing this game, even with the issues it may have, and as long as you guys don't stop working on this game, I'll probably keep playing it.

I didn't always believe in the Devs and since they barely communicated about the cheaters situation I sometimes felt like they were trying to ignore it and instead come up with flashy new killers and perks to make us not think about the problem at hand. I wrote it elsewhere but I'll say it again. This is all I ever wanted. To know that BHVR are working on the problem and don't ignore us. Thank you, BHVR.

I'm really glad to hear this, because looking back, it does seem like most of the things I have to say are negative - not just now, but across most updates. I try to keep things constructive rather than invective, but I'm only human, and critical is still critical. And I don't want to mean that! I really do love this game. It's incredibly unique and it's offered me a ton of fun over year and a half I've been part of it.

While I am glad you guys don't take that personally, the positives do need to be said - there's so many things I adore about Dead By Daylight and I'm always blown away by the work that goes into every new chapter, rework, and cosmetic set. This latest chapter is one of my all-time favorites and Wesker's one of the most fun killers you've released, both on a mechanical level and an immersion one (his voicelines are so satisfying!) And the player satisfaction surveys that go out always make me happy not just for being able to give feedback, but because they almost always have questions pertaining to recent community concerns, and it makes me glad that we are being heard.

I actually see you as being pretty constructive with your comments tbh, if that's any consolation.

We definitely listen to feedback, we can't always respond on feedback (or I'd be here even longer than I currently am!) and we can't always action every bit of feedback we get - we do pass this feedback onto the relevant teams however, and ascertain how beneficial to players/the game things actually are. It often leads to further discussions and something else might come out of that as well.

The upcoming PTB for instance, is a big test - its not scheduled for going Live in the next release as is our normal way because we appreciate this is going to be a big change and we want the feedback in advance on it, because as many know, there's not a huge amount of time between PTB and release for changes to be made, and we do want to make sure we address players concerns on the Mori Finisher and everything associated with it.

    Too wholesome for me.

But all I wanted from these guys is to see some more changes. Glad to see some, even if those changes are dogwater.

I also try to be constructive too and when I see that some of my ideas for reworks or new killers seem to make it to the game in one way or another it is always a nice thought.

    Thanks for that.
