Protection Score Events not Registering is what Makes Mettle of Man Unviable
I don't mind taking hits for my teammates but half of the time it's not worth giving up the healthy state if your teammate is gonna get down/hooked moments after you do so. Also because half of the time the protection score event does not even register making getting injured for a teammate pointless.

Maybe they should make it just for safe hook saves then.

I wish they would have kept the concept of safe hook saves as well. That way you could still prevent more than one person from getting it and you have to work for it. I agree that it needed a nerf, but in it's current state it is practically useless.
16 -
Yup

Practically ANY hooksave while using borrowed time would be considered a safe hook save though. Youd just have ppl farming each other to get their MoM. At least with the current state, it incentivizes body blocking, which could help the person being carried to wiggle off. Ppl use to body block like this all the time before mettle of man was ever in the game, dunno why the idea about it is somehow different.

Protection hits are inconsistent. That's why people have an issue with it. I've literally taken hits while someone was being carried and it didn't count. It would be more reasonable if protection hits were better and if it applied to healthy states, too. It isn't worth it atm. Anyone who have taken a hit for a stack will know you'll just be tunneled down next.

A perk should never reward a free health state. It never should have been in the game in the first place. It's fine as it is. It should be extremely difficult to gain a free state. It shouldn't be something you acquire through natural, normal gameplay.

I'd like to see a rework with a completely new mechanic for MoM.
7 -
Tbh, it is trash right now, the only thing that changes now from each tier is the distance of which your aura could be read.
4 -
Mettle of Man was the whole reason why everyone bought Ash, but after the nerf i'm pretty sure that the majority of players got triggered. Like yeah it needed a nerf but not like this!
6 -
Agreed.
I don’t know who came up with the idea to have protection hits to be what makes it proc but clearly they should have fixed protection hits not registering to begin with.
7 -
Took the words right out of my mouth
2 -
Well tell that to adrenaline.
3 -
Just make Protection score events actually consistent and it'll be better.
If you really want to use it just bring a good quick medkit and botany knowledge (+ self care if you really want it to last forever) and take hits while the killer is carrying. With that sort of perks and medkit you can heal up in no time and bodyblock hits are at least somewhat consistent in rewarding Protection stacks.
1 -
Let the perk stay dead
3 -
"Omg the perk is too weak now, I just want to be able to get mettle of man without doing anything so I can take a free hit" is what im hearing from you. To be rewarded, you must take risks
4 -
Maybe they shouldnt have used the protection hit system for this, it's bugged since beginning.
3 Safe unhooks are fine to me.
The perk is otherwise too overpowered.
4 -
some things should just be left in the trash can

I would be actually fine if it worked just like before with one addition:
If you havent start as obsession it takes 5 hits to activate.
0 -
No. Just no.
The perk shouldn't exist in the first place.
You are the perfect example of a player that refuses to get better and would rather have your hand held.
Get good at the game. You don't need perks to win.
3 -
The perk needs a total re work. A health state has proven to be way too powerful especially with how unbalanced this game can be. I just hope they can rework it while staying true to the show and not being op.

MoM now is worse than Monstrous Shrine. In fact, to be at the same level Monstrous Shrine should be:
After unhooking the killer 3 survivors from the hook at the basement, next basement hook is granted the following bonuses:
3/6/9 % faster Entity progression.
5/10/15 % increased difficulty on escape attempts.
3/6/9 % increased penalty to escape fails.

Can we at least agree that MoM as it currently is does not need the aura downside?

Fix Protection hit score and/or make it 2 hit instead.

The bulk of sales of the expansion are completed and they have a huge list of other perks that are broken and they know it. Nerf and put on the back burner is the BHVR way, well as soon as sales dwindle anyways.

MoM should activate with 3 safe unhooks, instead of 3 (bugged) protection hits.

They are working on fixing and expanding how protection hits work. All will be well.
That being said, I do think as for right now, it was kinda an unnecessary nerf for a perk that's now essentially more telegraphed than Freddy's teleport to only work when you're injured as opposed to both healthy AND injured.
1 -
Eh. I'd rather not. A perk that has such a powerful effect needs to be telegraphed somewhat. It's not in a good place at the moment though, I agree with that sentiment though.

Assuming nothing else were changed at the moment, sure. That's fine.
It'd be kinda lulzy if there was some activatable survivor perk that makes you go into dying state for a few seconds in exchange for something good. Sounds stupid, but it would be a funny meme perk. It'd let you bypass the downside of the aura reading.

@Peanits the thing is tho is that taking a protection hit dosent work 50 % i think many people agree that it needs a rework maybi with dedicated server it whil be fixed

If protection hits registered properly and more consistently it wouldn't be bad.
0 -
Imo this perk should've never exist. Its just bad for the health of this game.
It needs a rework like DS got.

I never bought Ash for that perk so not everyone did.
If people bought it thinking it would stay in its current state then more full them tbh. It was obvious a nerf would have to happen even when it was simply announced.
They did over nerf it and make it useless so at this stage is prefer them to just rework the perk and make it do something else or it will end up another DS scenario where we get a few changes over 2 years until it gets to a stage where it's semi ok.

True

I bought Ash because he's Ashley Joanna Williams!

This is very true.
The perk in its current state though, makes no sense and is useless. At the very least, it should also protect against instadowns (applies to ANY dying state hit like they originally were putting in the PTB) and the aura part should be removed.

I think fixing completely broken protection hit detection is better idea and make the area for counting protection hits bigger.
And even IF safe unhooks would became a thing, it would have to be only them and some very high number like 4 or even 5. Getting one bonus hit can have really big impact on the match so I would rather have protection hits fixed.

Agreed
There have been so many times where I didn't get any progression on the perk even though I was clearly right beside my injured allie when I took damage.
0 -
Me too, I like this new MoM (I bought Ash after the nerfs to MoM) but I can't play my builds with it right now since protection hits are broken. Needs fixing asap.
0 -
I wish people would block me more. I want a reason to run mad grit
2 -
Survivors don't block as often because most of the time it's not worth it (unless their running MoM, WGLF, or their a swf group) But even if they do body block you'll still have time to hook the survivor before he/she can even wiggle out so I advise you use another perk that'll be more useful.
0 -
@Peanits What would you suggest the alternative be then? Because as it is this perk is worthless. Even when you do the most obvious action that would be deemed as "protecting" and block a killer from a survivor being chased it doesn't count. So now you took a hit, you are wounded, killer switched targets and you never got a stack.
5 -
Exactly why this perk is unusable as hell at it's current stage.
1 -
I do.
Am I the only one who bought Ash only for Buckle Up?
1 -
For real? Well your one of a kind
1 -
They should just change Mettle of Man effect entirely, giving survivors and extra hit is too game changing basically a free insta heal, just cause the killer is doing what they are supposed to which is hitting survivors.
0 -
I bought Ash cause i like Evil Dead and the character, couldn't care less about the perks
1 -
Groovy
2 -
True, but how would they change it?
0 -
Mettle meaning the ability to cope through difficulty should focus on exactly that.
Mettle of Man - Gain a token for each survivor sacrificed. Each token represents 20/25/30 extra seconds on the end game collapse timer. This enables you to endure the EGC for longer and being able to have a more cautious and stealthy escape.
If you are in chase during the EGC the timer will decrease twice as fast as usual.
