the disconnect is for game breaking issues that happen very rarely (where the game will NEVER end) for instance getting stuck in the geometry will sometimes do this, sometimes it will let it end. Another time I've seen things happen is when the player ends up spectating the killer instead of a survivor without going to the score board. To get there as you well know you much LEAVE the match behind (you are still active but not moving or anything like that), by opening a menu that is out of the match functionality and click a button. you know it's out of match functionality because your mouse cursor is back and able to move. This is NOT supposed to be used because you did not like what map you got, what killer you got, what the killer does in game. If there is a problem with the killer then by all means use in match functionality to leave and REPORT the person for what ever they did and let the devs look at it and decide if that person broke the rules or not.
So NO there is no in match functionality that allows for players to disconnect, this means that any intentional disconnect is against the rules and thus should have penalties applied. They have said in the rules "to leave the match intentionally by any means other than the game "killing" your character or escaping the trial is not allowed." many times and it is written down. Thus penalties are there, unfortunately for those that play and have internet connections that won't always keep them in the match. the ones that intentionally disconnected have ruined it for these unfortunate people for the time being.
2 -
It would be pointless. Guess what happens when surv can’t suicide by their own hand..... they just afk and suicide by killer. Makes absolutely no difference how it’s accomplished.
4 -
There's no point. They just suicide on hook anyway, something the Devs avidly defend as a core part of the game.
Even the few people that cool off between down and hook do not outweigh the ones that get screwed over because of the penalties.
0 -
Where is this written down? Ive never heard of that being a rule. Nor do they enforce it. And even if they did, people will just suicide on hook, so there's no point. If you want to punish dc'ers, let them dc. They lose any bloodpoints and depip. Punishment enough.
1 -
in the RULES of the game. I've done the research for this many times. You might want to go look and do a quick 5 minute max google search to find THIS from these VERY FORUMS: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
and I quote: "Disconnects (leaving the match before killed or sacrificed)" the post lists do not report because there is now a "ban" automated system in effect, however the dc penalty system is not currently engaged. Also though not said here leaving via the exit gate or the hatch are not disconnects. You might want to bone up on the rules of this game (EULA and reportable offenses and the general rules of the game) if you aren't sure perhaps you are violating other things too!
3 -
I wonder how well a low-priority queue would do in this game like Dota 2. Give players a grace limit for the day or something, say 2 free disconnects. If a player disconnects more than twice in a single day they get thrown into a low-priority queue where they get to play games with a bunch of other quitters for the day. Having the company of each other might teach some of them to not disconnect so liberally.
1 -
That's the dumbest rule ever, no wonder they don't properly enforce it.
"Play our game no matter what. Even if you're not having fun. Even if it's completely stacked against you. Even if the killer is holding you hostage for a slug fest or to get that annoying 4k. If you don't play our game, we'll ban you from playing." The dc penalty is just another term for encouraging people to play other games.
Overwatch did it right. Leave a bunch of games in a row? -75% xp from your next 10 matches. They don't stop people from playing their game, they just hinder your leveling capability if you continuously leave matches.
1 -
It's on behavior folks. its poor design choices no one enjoys annoying. the last year or so they have only really added in annoying on both sides. it started with legion and has progressed going forward. this problem will remain for as long as dbd is in such a poor condition.
3 -
They need to focus on the bugs and balancing issues. But that will never happen, because they need to keep releasing DLCs to keep people active. It sucks, but is true. Optimization on all platforms need fixed, they need to fix hit validation, I can be behind the killer and they still make a hit, ect.
But I mostly just want D/C penalties fixed. I don't wanna wait 10 minutes for a game just for the killer/my teammates to D/C mid-game/in loading.
0 -
it is not the dumbest rule ever. on the 17th I had three disconnects for NO REASON! they didn't like being downed or something I don't know what. they were crossplay from my steam. they didn't really see it as a problem till mid 2019 and late 2019 when it really became rampant where people would dc at the drop of a hat. and if people are dcing, do you think that -75% blood points is going to do anything, since if you DC you loose ALL YOUR BLOOD POINTS, do you think a negative to blood points would matter to these people that are constantly dc'ing? heck in 2019 i knew a STREAMER that was broadcasting litterally 10 times in ONE NIGHT with flimsy excuses to just dc. Honestly if you don't like the map, or killer, or something else you're LOOKING for an EASY game so go play Hello Kitty or something else stop RUINING other people's games and fun.
1) killer can not hold you hostage unless they body block you into a corner while the rest of the team finishes the gens, opens the doors and starts EGC.
2) if the killer slugs, there is no hostage of the game why? you will die in 4 minutes. MAX.
3) YOU ARE NOT FORCED TO CONTINUE A GAME. if you don't like something you can get hooked, try to escape 3 times and not struggle bingo, you're out, no penalty, no report, no nothing because you used in match functions.
4) other games have dc penalties because it ruins the experience of other players. Behavior thought that players would actually READ the rules and policies before playing and understand they could at anytime be held accountable for transgressions, and this is the only thing Behavior is guilty of in this.
DID YOU read the EULA? DID YOU READ the rules? I DID.... maybe not right away but I did review them because I don't take too many chances. IF YOU are not having fun, go else where and stop trying to enforce your specific rules on people that don't know you what so ever. If you're in a "custom match" you can set what ever extra rules you want.
4 -
you don't wait 10 minutes because your teammates decide to dc, if you are waiting 10 minutes on a dc ban and you didn't dc but someone in your swf did, stop playing with them or tell them to stop. You have the choice of who and when you play with anyone.
0 -
No, i meant I don't wanna wait 10 minutes in a lobby, only to get into a game for someone to D/C, I don't D/C and I don't get a penalty :P with the penalties disabled, I wait in a lobby for that long even with cross-play on
0 -
The trial is already ruined by a broken addon.
1 -
But disconnecting makes it worse, you screw over your teammates. I rather deal with a broken add-on than abandon my teammates/suicide on hook like a prick because "woes me, I died"
Also, it almost 3AM rn so I am slightly out of it
3 -
Okay you need to stop writing novels cause it's getting annoying to read. Summarize. Being slugged for four minutes is four minutes too long. Its obnoxious and I'm not going to sit there and let a killer waste my time. Also it is a dumb rule. Forcing people to stay then banning them from playing when they don't is dumb. People who disconnect do care about bloodpoints. They just didn't care about that singular match. Everyone has a reason. I never get mad when someone dcs, never have in my 4 years of playing. I always think it sucks that they weren't having fun and hope the next round goes better for them. And here you go again. Thinking I should care more about strangers than myself and my own enjoyment that I paid for. No. I'm not. Stop trying to force your specific rules onto me. If you want strangers to care about you enough to not dc, invite randoms into a custom match :)
1 -
oh I am SO SORRY that I am making you think and understand what is going on. you are wrong, the rule is as the devs put it, if you think it's "DUMB" come up with a solution other than "<whiney voice> LET ME DC U CANT MAKE ME PLAY!" I can't you can dc all you want, but just realize the RULE is there, it is enforced, you get penalized for BREAKING IT. Please tell me of ANY GAME online that has no penalties or rules? none, all games have rules and penalties for breaking those rules. STEAM, Playstation, Xbox, Microsoft, everyone has rules and penalties if you break it. EVEN some older games have rules if you cheat at them (single player) where you get turned into a chicken or other such things.
"Being slugged for 4 minutes is 4 minutes too long" please tell me you as survivor stop and repair every generator you come across even while in chase, or cleanse any totem as you come across them? well that's what you are trying to FORCE others to do, PLAY YOUR WAY not their way. They paid for the game, they deserve to follow the rules and play the game. I guess you still haven't gone and read the rules I even linked. LOL! oh sorry for the 2 paragraph novel but I will not use 1337 (LEET) speak or abbreviate unnecessarily. That is how I was taught at school.
3 -
Fair enough, I misunderstood, thanks for the clarification! I whole heartedly agree with you!
3 -
It's on people who DC, full stop. If you don't enjoy the game, then stop playing it instead of queuing up just to DC and ruin everyone else's trial.
3 -
Devs clearly don't give a ######### about your issues looking at how often they disable that silly slap in the wrist kind of punishment OR MAYBE they finally noticed it doesn't do it's job.
0 -
see that is where you're wrong. you can enjoy a game, and you can also dislike annoying aspects of it, if you can avoid them annoying aspects then by all means the game is ment to be played the way said person wants to play it. if you do not like that well then id suggest you take it up with behavior as they just keep adding more and more annoying aspects to the game that just kills more and more of the enjoyable aspects of the game. making more and more people just dc or suicide on hook to get to the next match in hopes of getting into a match that is more enjoyable. nothing wrong with that they spent there money to play a game and they are allowed to play it in the manner they desire to. albeit if the game was free to play then id agree with you 100% but the fact they had to buy the game to play it they have every right to do as they want to enjoy the game they bought.
1 -
Well, I paid for the game and I'm not enjoying it because of people who DC. Also, fun fact: you do not have the right to do whatever you want. It's in the EULA you didn't read.
The behavior you're defending is the same as going to a hotel, taking a ######### in their pool, and when they try to kick you out because you're disrupting every other customer you complain that you paid them money, so you're free to do whatever. You are not free to disrupt their business, no matter how much money you paid.
0 -
I said the person has the right to play as they want to play. if they want to load in run to the killer and die every match its there dang right to do just that. if they want to hit esc and click leave match they have the right to do that as the leave match function is within the game. the game is a whole the match is just part of it. who cares if you are enjoying the game no one in this game cares about other peoples enjoyment that is clear enough. so deal with it and stop crying. I guess you could take your own advice if you don't like it " If you don't enjoy the game, then stop playing it"
1 -
Riight cuz Overwatch doing so hot ... if you dc for any reason but technical problems then you are a loser :D (aww i dont feel like losing lets screw over 4 other players cuz me havin fun is the most important thing in the world).
Maybe Multiplayer is not for you ^^
0 -
This isn't correct. The LEAVE MATCH function is there for emergencies - not for when people get downed instantly, or don't want to play against a certain killer or against a certain survivor perk.
DC'ing is spoiling the game for the other players in the match who do want to play. And I do definitely suggest that if you are unable to play a match, don't even go into a lobby!
20 -
then it shouldn't be within the games menus during match play. there is ways to get out of a game in an emergency if it should arise. good ole CTRL ALT Del so obviously I would have to say since its within the games menus during match play its viable. people will use that for that very function if its available.
2 -
I’m getting way more afk players than disconnecters these days. I’d rather they clamped down on that.
0 -
This thread with so many people claiming they have right to do whatever they want in the match is so ridiculous. Did any of you ever read the rules on what gameplay is allowed and which is not ?
Afking, dcing, holding the game hostage, abusing exploits etc is all in the game but is also not allowed to do freely since it's not intended way to play the game.
You can't do whatever is fun for you be it dcing when you aren't having fun or whatever else, especially on account of others who's definition of fun you don't even know. Please stop with your nonsense.
3 -
I do have fun playing the game. The game is not my problem, DCers are.
1 -
If half of your team disconnects, then everyone should be guaranteed a safety pip, even the Killer. Expecting two survivors to fix five generators is absurd.
1 -
Thanks for hearing me out 😊
1 -
They should add it again when the huge amount of problems from 4.2.0 are fixed. There are still things that are broken and unfun like no DS Stun, Teleporting when using Flashlights (Flashlight Challenge is cancer now) and Lags (Serversided as well as double Palett Vault Animations where Killer can still hit you)
All Problems are on Switch btw
0 -
The reason they have disabled it since implementing it is that some people have hacked in and found a way to give people who do NOT disconnect severe time penalties and can not play the game. so instead of make it so that the hackers can grief the players playing properly they remove those penalties and I support this, I just wish they'd disable the functionality.
actually by the RULES running intentionally into the killer is ALSO a punishable offense in the game. this is called not playing the game correctly and that is ALSO in the rules. This rule is a bit harder to enforce though unless the person disconnects.
there are two states of this game and they are "in game" which happens once you load in and then there is "IN MATCH" which happens once you are in the trial itself with 4 other players. If you hit the escape key (on the steam and microsoft store versions) you are leaving the "IN MATCH" functionality and moving back to the "IN GAME" functionality. By using the option to leave match there you are using out of match functionality which is not allowed by the rules. as @MandyTalk said it is there for emergencies, like when you get bugged and can't move the game won't kill you during EGC, you would have to wait till the server decides to disconnect you completely which takes about 2-3 hours. thus this is why the disconnect option was placed there. (originally it was for problems like stuck in the geometry where the killer can't touch you nor can you move or do anything or other such situations. It is not something that was supposed to be used just becuase you are facing a ghost face and you hate anyone that plays that killer because they are all toxic.
use the report features at the end game scoreboard to report AFK players. that is where you will find that's not allowed by the rules
heck I even posted the rules for the game that you can find on this very forum!
1 -
mistakes can happen, the way you said it was not exactly clear so when you corrected what you said I understood better. no worries we are all human!
0 -
Even if you give me a penalty for disconnecting on Ormond as killer, doesn't mean i'm not going to do it again.
I refuse to play on that map, EVER.
3 -
Your condescending attitude needs to stop. Its not cute. Learn to debate like an adult or stop replying if you're going to act immature.
The dc penalty is the dumbest rule this game has. Most people should agree with this. A penalty that literally locks you out of playing the game? Unless you're cheating, that should never be a punishment. Other games, which I also play, hinder your xp gain. Dbd needs to do the same. Hinder your bloodpoint and level gain. People do also play for shards. But to make it so they can't play the game they payed for because they got sick of a killer camping and tunneling them is stupid and idiotic. Hence why this game encourages killers to play like trash and get rewarded. When the 1 player has more power than the other 4, that's a problem. I'm not going to argue if it's a rule or not anymore, I'm saying it's stupid for a company to make a penalty that locks you out from playing for something as small as leaving a singular game. Its just dumb in design and execution. The game has hundreds of bugs they need to fix first before even implementing a punishment for people dc'ing. I'm not going to wait a whole match in that stupid rock glitch or have half of my perks not work with the new chapter release.
2 -
Overwatch is actually doing great. Their devs are actually listening and trying new things all the time to balance the game. If you're just going to meme and say overwatch is dead then you're just immature.
I'm not going to play a game I'm not having fun in. That's not why I bought the game. I don't dc cause I lose, if anything I lose often in red ranks cause my team mates are usually purple or yellow for some reason. But if I'm constantly being camped, tunneled, ect. Then I'm already being denied the ability to play the game. So why not just leave? So the killer can get a few more bloodpoints out of me? No, I'm not giving campers and tunnelers any extra bloodpoints.
0 -
I love how you say most people SHOULD agree with YOUR way of thinking, when clearly more people agree with the rules as stated by those that CREATED this game. people don't care about blood points, they will get them no matter what, reducing blood points for penalty is just like removing a pip for disconnecting... that's a REWARD! Follow the rules and you won't have an issue like this. this game is not about equality between players. if the killer was the exact same power level as the survivors no killer would even get more than 1 or 2 hooks. if you think this game is dumb STOP PLAYING, STOP trying to tell others how to play, and how you think it should be played. I'll let you in on a secret from a programer EVERY GAME has hundreds of bugs! and I'm being generous. YOU TRY writing a game with millions of lines of code, new things added in that have to interact with what is there and not have any bugs, I DARE you to even try as I know for a fact you would never get that game published let alone working because guess what? it'd take you YEARS just to ensure the initial bugs are worked out and sometimes years to fix new bugs. Please do us all a favor and if you really think this game is dumb STOP PLAYING why? you're life would be so much better! Still challenge anyone including you to tell me a PVP game that does not have rules at all and I tell you right now you won't find them.
2 -
Amen orion, very well said as always.

We could call this post the "99 thesis dbd".
Not to make you mad at all. But I know whenever we all talk about this topic. Everyone gets mad at one another. I've played this game at a friends house and then got it months after launch. After he begged me to buy this game. DBD back then wasn't THAT bad of a game.
The last 2 years have created some really unpleasant issues in the game. I mean, im addicted to this game. Don't get me wrong! I bought killers here and there. I had a good time! But the level of frustration this game causes. Has taken its toll on alot of people. Addiction to a good game, and frustration to mechanics which are "Brick walls".
When the game starts out. Our adrenaline is "warm" and is things happen. The adrenaline goes CLEAR UP. That is what makes for the THRILL of the chase and the game. When people reach a "low" which is a 'brick wall" where their character is rendered UN-Usable. The player isn't excited anymore and becomes FRUSTRATED. Slugging, camping and unfair hits cause this.
The question the devs should be asking is "What can we do to prevent this?" Manipulating game rules doesn't do anything. When the penalties are on. Players move that behavior to PULLING ON THE HOOK". They want OUT of the match. So they can get their NEXT FIX of adrenaline. It is a "junky" kind of thing. The next "High" a gamer wants!
---
Players DO act bad. The big ISSUE that forced a DC, was:
1 ) the killer that smacked someone through a window, over a pallet, or suddenly the experience of RUBBER BANDING and they get hit! Yes, as the killer I did NOT like pallet vacuums and vault-vacuums. But I understood WHY they were there. As players spend MORE time on this game. They understand what the game WAS and now IS. Its sort of this emotional bond to the game that they have. As changes occur. They say things like "I use to be able to do that. Now I cant... GRRRR".
2 ) Same with Slamming the hatch SHUT. That PREVIOUS hatch design (believe it or not) was a "CARROT and STICK". If the survivor KNOWS they have another way OUT of the match. The reward of ESCAPE. They think to themselves.
"Even IF I try and the team does BAD, i can STILL escape the match".
Today, that is gone. As killer. I always thought that NOED should have been something that should have been ACTIVATED once the hatch OPENS. NOED is an "insurance card" for escape prevention". I guess I usually just bring it either way. Since day 1. It is a must. If I want a secured escape! Hatch grabbing is what caused stand offs!3 ) I do remember back in the day. When HATCH stand offs occurred. Had the DEV team taken Away hatch grabbing. I think most killers would have fell back on NOED and played it out! I've done stand-offs before. Some lasting over an hour, some, even more! Hatch stand-offs are still there today, only it is 2 players now, and a group of 3 generators that are too close to one another!
4 ) BBQ and HATCH - DC is a counter. Since we have distortion that receives ONLY a limited number of ticks. It doesn't play right! We know that if there are 2 remaining survivors and the hatch is going to appear. If the one player is going to be hooked. What is the other person going to do. They are going to DC before they are HUNG. So BBQ doesn't PROC! That isn't really a problem at all! It is SAVY players that know the game enough. That in order to FORCE a win for the survivor side. They have to sacrifice their blood points for the other player! More players are becoming Altruistic in this game, for the fact that they KNOW sometimes if it means playing a good game and the other player was nice. They will help them out and give them the hatch. That hatch takes EONS to open. Once BBQ procs. THe killer makes a BEE LINE for that person that they saw
5 ) Bad team mates farming them infront of the killer. We've had that occur too. Where a player is frustrated that they just got pulled down infront of the killer and guess what. THe killer is going to put them right back on the hook. THe person DC's so the killer can catch up with the OFFENDING survivor. People use to never do this. Because they KNEW if they did that. The person they farmed would do that, and the killer could EASILY turn around and give CHASE to them. For their transgressions!
6 ) Slugged survivors. Again. it is a "brick wall" to players. The "bill perk" doesn't become usable, and most people never even run the perk! So how about some risk to reward? If the player crawls to the hook. They should be able to crawl UP it, leave the dying state and get back into the game! It SHOULD be a win for win. If the player goes to the hook. The killer KNOWS where to find them and do what they should have done in in the first place. "HOOK" or Kill. :-)
------
Survivors: I guess I've always thought that DISTORTION (as a perk) should have NO TOKENS being just like calm spirit (perk). While be a standard in the blood web. Slugging could be fixed with players able to crawl out of the dying state, off of a hooking post. I've felt that hatch closing should be removed and that END GAME COLLAPSE might best be set as 60 minutes on the clock. If we are to keep servers CLEAR and OPEN for play! Maybe that is too short. I dont know!
Killers: But I do believe that minor adjustments are needed for this game While killers receive a couple of perks that can help them control the map and win chases easier! I mean I think alot of time could have been SAVED in the time of map design when instead. Safety Pallets could have been easily defeated just by INCREASING the speed Percentage of BRUTAL strength (The perk) slightly and some minor fixes to "FIRE UP", so as the game progressed. The speed of the killer increased. Again. The perception of the "killers threat". As the killer plays the game and the survivors. The clock narrows and the killer is now even MORE angry than ever! (GRR).
Finally, the good old mori. I guess players feel CHEATED that the killer is going to shorten the game up. So instead, lets just say after the third time a player is down. The killer can MORI the player no matter what! ( I mean they ARE the killer). Even Samination jokes that the killers are "hook-eeer-eerz". LOL. (The guy really promotes your game!) With the way the game stands. There are TOO many hooks on the map, and perks that were to HELP the killer get to those hooks. Are pointless! So a Win for Win.
Killers complain about the keys and I agree. I love main-ing the killer! I have a good time! A purple key should only allow ONE survivor through the hatch and a pink key should LOCK the hatch OPEN so nobody can close it! But at the same time. ALLOW the killer to RUN NOED and have it proc. Once the hatch is in an "open position".
---
Outre -thoughts.
Im not making this as a personal attack on the company. I mean i've played this game quite a bit over the years. But these problems weren't really a thing until later patching in the last couple of years. IDK. We aren't going to agree on anything here. Im just going off of what I observe. I do understand some of the human Psych of "carrot and stick". Behavior. DC was turned into a legit strategy. Despite as scummy as can be. Streamers are promoting this game at an all-time high and they need CONTENT that is cohesive and RAPID-FIRE.
I sell semi trucks online, as a side gig and if I tell the person "i have another guy coming out today to look at it, let me set a time" they are going to show up and buy a truck. Vs "Nah, nobody has come yet and looked at it". Its the same tactics any USED CARS SALESMAN applies to their craft. The same should be applied to any online game. Carrot, stick.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this thread, I really do hope the penalties are fixed. It makes me slightly frustrated when I can wait 10 minutes in a lobby, finally get into a match and during the match someone leaves for some idiotic reason.
It just disappoints me because they think they can do it cuz "they paid money". Again, thank you for responding
1 -
You keep missing my point and putting words in my mouth. I never said the game was dumb. That particular rule is. No game should lock people out of playing unless they were cheating. That's an idiotic design. And where TF did I say I make games? I don't do that for a living, I work in the medical field. People who do make games for a living should also be fixing their bugs on a quick and consistent basis. As a fan of pvp games, this game just has too many issues to be punishing people for leaving.
I don't see this going anywhere. You're missing my points and cocking and attitude so I'm just gonna agree to disagree and stop replying to you. Have a great time in the fog.
0 -
your comment "I'm saying it's stupid for a company to make a penalty that locks you out from playing for something as small as leaving a singular game. Its just dumb in design and execution" in a previous reply states you think the RULES are dumb in design and execution. this means by extension that you think the game is dumb. so stop playing if you disagree with the rules why play the game? if you can't abide by the fact there is a penalty, then why play the game? If you think that you OWN the game because you paid for it, realize that if you commit a rules and/or eula violation they CAN have your access removed even though you PAID for the the game. STEAM can remove your access at any time and can remove your whole game library at any time they feel you committed a transgression big enough to warrant banning your account. the only way you can claim to "OWN" the game is if 1) there is no interaction between you and the company beyond purchasing your game and 2) there is no online connection what so ever including registration upon installation.
AGAIN if you feel the rules are dumb and poorly executed, including the penalties for breaking said rules, you might want to re-think why you play this game. Your attitude in this thread is that you should be able to dc willy nilly and only suffer a minor blood point reduction for X days. well that's not enough. when people dc like that and continually dc they show they don't give a damn about their blood points. had a friend i was JUST PLAYING WITH that said "The only reason i'm not dc'ing on your ass is because I put up a bloody party streamer." this was in reference to a iri head huntress. we had a dc in that match on first iri head down. I didn't care, I got 12K multiplied by 3 in the end so I was happy. I didn't dc nor did i even contemplate it. I also how ever juked the huntress' hatchets a couple of times as well... I still had fun even with the "TOXIC, TRY HARD KILLER" even told the killer the build was a fairly "TOXIC" build but they did nothing wrong within the rules of the game.
2 -
this for sure the dc penalities did nothing but hurt killers who want out which don't hurt survivors or hurt play who got dced by the game don't forget the hackers which never going away that why dc penalities shouldn't come back either bring in bots to replace dc player or splitting the queue I think bots be better but that me.
1 -
Bots are a good idea, though difficult to implement with the amount of coding, so I don't think they'll be introduced anytime soon
1 -
I would say the most peaceful solution would be; To create a ranking system based upon "PLAYER QUALITY'.. as a start. That way those that are SERIOUS about the game. Can have an enjoyable experience and those that treat this game as a "parlor-party game" can do the same. I mean when it comes to online games. Some people can chill, and others can rage.
From a business stand point this would make sense. I would say the more people brought to the community. The better. We need paying customers to keep the employees paid to create games for us, the content and the cost of those DEDICATED SERVERS aren't cheep!
1 -
You are missing the point here. It doesn´t matter whether the rule is dumb or not. The rule is simply there, so you have to accept it or stop playing the game. It is that simple. BHWR could make much dumber rules and everyone of us had to accept it. It´s their game, they can make every rule they want. And if they change the DC-Rule at one day and allow it, then we who have a problem with DCs have to accept that. It would still be a very egocentric and antisocial behaviour but it would be allowed. Right now, it is not about opinons, it is a rule. And that´s it.

It's a tricky one.
The big culprits right now is:
- SWF groups, forcing certain (admittedly unfun) playstyles out of killers.
- Killer matchmaking inexplicably removed without any idea of when (if ever) it will return.
- Quests which force killers to tunnel/camp.
Mix these together and you get:
- Survivors getting used to easy wins and nerfherding/DCing on any difficult game, after being matched against killers far below them in rank for extended periods.
- Killers dodging or DCing SWF groups, or games where they clearly have no chance at all.
And of course add:
- Crazily huge maps where even finding a survivor can be a chore
- 'What were they thinking?' items like top tier Moris and keys.
All of this combines to create an unfun situation, where players will go out of their way to win regardless of BP or fun, often at the expense of the opponent(s). Everything becomes a zero sum game and everyone gets more and more toxic.

The fact that players are defending the ability to suicide on hook and DC astounds me. "oOOoOOH, we shouldn't be punished for not wanting to play" Don't load into a match in the first place. If you're so entitled, that you think you should be able to leave a match or ######### on hook with no penalty, go play a different game, and make yourself a sandwich.

Add them back in for survivors to stop them from leaving to screw their teammates or open the hatch.
Don't add them back in for killers, since if they don't want to play they'll just walk into a corner and go AFK, wasting even more of everybody's time.
