The amount of hate this game generates

Didn't say it was justified. The person who said it should be banned.

You were antagonizing them so you should expect that to upset people.
You implied it was justified but aight

The death treats aside, one can clearly say from the score how you played. On top you bring in BPs just to end the match within 2 minutes and barely even get 15k BPs yourself. I just don't get that fact. Would it have hurt you, to let the guy with unbreakable pick up/unhook the others so you get more hooks and points cause the game lasts longer?
When I play killer and I see I stomp the survivors (I main GF) I will just walk around the map, keep them all injured and will just let em play some after the first two hooks on each of them. Game lasts longer, I get max BPs, they get some BPs (in those games no surv dies with less than 20k BPs) and most importantly every one has fun - I never had a single survivor complain.
Some people have to realize this game isn't only about your own fun but there is 4 other people with you who want to have some fun as well.

The death threats are the point. To ignore them is to ignore the entire purpose of the discussion.

But that's farming...

Okey dokey.

I don't know about this. I always say "good game" and/or something like it to be positive whether I wipe the floor with them or not. It is basic good sportsmanship. One can always find at least one or two good things the opponent did during a match even if they were mostly awful. I understand that it hurts to lose, but the right response is:
"If you can't say something nice, it is better to say nothing at all."
I've gotten used to the fact that when I demolish people they rarely say anything even if I'm friendly. I respect their silence and understand they are just being adults and holding their tongues. Good on them. I don't think the OP was trying to antagonize anyone, just exercising the same good sportsmanship we were taught from Kindergarten up, i.e. at the end of the game you shake hands and say "good game".
2 -
No, I will still kill them eventually. I just let them play some and get some more points myself. You know so everyone gets to play the game and can enjoy it.
2 -
If there was something you liked about the way they played then say it. A flat "gg" after a game that ends in 2 minutes is going to piss people off because that's obviously not a good game. To think otherwise is to be purposefully obtuse.
1 -
So ur toying w the survivors cuz u know u already won. But wants a few more BP so u let them run around.
While I agree w what u do, I think a lot of ppl only care about their own enjoyment. Other ppl's 'fun'? Well... They be alright.

I agree with this completely. I always try to say more than just the minimum. I like to comment on a particularly good juke or pallet stun. Truth be told I eat a lot of pallets on purpose for that reason. ;) The setup of the game doesn't reward a Killer for ending a game quickly. You get more points the longer it lasts. I like long games and thus I tend to make them last a long time whether I intend to win or I intend to lose. The longer the game goes, the greater the opportunity for me to find something I can comment on at the end of the game.
But all that being said and done, I still think people who don't go to that level of effort and just say GG aren't trying to antagonize anyone. They are simply going through the motions of being polite. They can't control how the salty will take it. I've had games where I was detailed and really complimentary of the other side, and still got a heaping helping of hate speech. Bad sports are bad sports. They are choosing to be antagonized and refusing to hold their tongues like adults because apparently they never learned the basic tenets of good sportsmanship.

It's like you're missing the point of the thread or you're actually trying to justify the toxicity that comes out of people's mouths.
The point of this thread was about death threats in the end-game chat. It's not about how quick the game went, maybe the OP actually considered it a good game for themselves because they got a 4k in 2 minutes.
3 -
I'm glad that when you say gg you sincerely mean it. And yes, bad sports will be bad sports, but.. A message you send isn't 100% about your intent, it's also how it's received. And there are things you can say that, from countless past experiences, you know can possibly upset someone even if that's not what you intended.
Also, if you're saying gg because you're going through the motions, then to me that gg means even less. It's just a reflex. At that point just say what you wanna say and exit the lobby.

I can't speak for the person you responded to but I can answer this question for myself. Sure, yes. I often stretch out games because it is mutually beneficial. I try to avoid farming because I don't think they learn anything from that nor is it a challenge. I'd rather they NOT know I'm taking it down a few notches to play closer to their level. Am I toying with them? The answer would be subjective, so I'll error on the side that is the least flattering; yes I am. I am letting them get some points, practice, and feel they earned a victory if any of them get out.
There are lots of ways to do this. Sometimes I just let them get Generators I could easily stop. I'm giving them a head start to balance out what is clearly a poor bit of matchmaking. Sometimes I "miss" a lot choosing a basic attack over a lunge. Sometimes I eat pallets I don't have to get hit by and thus they get some ground. The list goes on and on. My point is the game is designed in such a way that snuffing the Survivors fast and efficiently makes you fewer BP and less likely to earn a Pip. It can, in fact, lose you Pips as you get into the more potent Ranks. Why would I want to do that?
I suspect, although I have no way of knowing, that the DEV built it this way on purpose. They assume that over time the competitive types, like me, will figure out we get more bang for our buck by making matches go longer, getting more hooks, allowing more saves to repeat said hooks, and so on. That approach certainly does work on a Min/Max Player like myself. I expect it works on a lot of people. That is why you see more Mori, camping, etc. in the less potent Ranks. Those Killers are trying to keep people on the hook. By contrast, I'm trying to let them get unhooked so I have more opportunities to score, or wanting to get the overly altruistic if a match requires bait.
Playing closer to the level of your opponents is, at least by me, preferred to farming. All sides get more out of it. Sometimes Survivors catch on and will comment on it in the end chat. I never lie about it if confronted with, "were you taking it easy on us?" I will admit the truth, and compliment what they did right and sometimes if they sound receptive offer advice on what they could do better. Due to the Console inability to chat with us (and there seem to be more of them than PC Players) many games don't have any conversation of any type at the end. I often think that would be a blessing if it were universal silence. If you want to call it "toying" with the Survivors, I'll accept that. I prefer to call it maximizing my value from a game, and a win/win situation since every second I didn't gut them like fish is time they have to earn more points, learn more things, and SOMETIMES make me pay for it. I've lost kills (even whole matches) because I let things go too long.

But it makes my popcorn just so much more delicious 😂

There was a thread a while ago and I wish I could find it where someone submitted a support ticket and, wanting proof people look at it, added in a message along the lines of "Someone respond to my forum post to prove these are read". Peanits then replied to the thread word for word with the message they were asked to repeat.

Somehow sometimes people take it into their own hands, and manipulate it.

So are we seriously defending toxicity and someone telling them to die from covid? Pathetic.
8 -
The only problem here is that, the surviving survivors will tell u that u suck. And if u tell them u let them go, they say they let themselves go, and the insults continue. This is not a isolated incident, it happens all the time. So I stop doing that and just kill all of them. If the survivors survive, it's becuz they did it on their own. And I'll take the insult.
Only time I let survivors go is when I see rank 20 potatoes. I just leave them be. Babies deserve to live to be killed in the future.
0 -
But why would I care if they tell me I suck? :) Unless they ask me if I was taking it easy on them, I'm not going to offer that information. I know they only got out because of me. I could care less what they think or know. If they demonstrate bad manners, I just take note of them and if they come up again, I won't be as kind. I play to compete against MYSELF and if I know I won and let them walk, why would I care if they know or not? They are just nameless, faceless voices squawking on the internet.

this why I don't want end game chat on ps4 this why I feel it should be removed.

I did neither of those things, so thats 3 people who jumped to death threats and homophobic remarks for simply losing. Some people are just toxic to be toxic. Like I said in my post, it could just be a bad day for them(not everyone's holidays time is magical) mixed with a bad game which made what I posted above.
6 -
Thank you! I made sure to thoroughly report them for everything they said, but I wasn't sure if there were other steps I could take. Thanks again.
2 -
Or they simply rushed hook against a Bubba and died immediately. Sorry that your favorite side is in the wrong here, but nothing excuses what they said. I have thick enough skin to not take it personally, but I can imagine they say this to others over the drop of a hat which needs to be stopped.
6 -
Like I said in the post, the survivors rushed hook one after with bright suits. I know the whole "what else was I supposed to do? Stand in a corner and ignore the survivor?" meme, but literally that was the only option I had for the game to not turn out the way it did. If someone literally runs past you to the point where you can hear her breathing, would you not stop them? She could've at least played smart and waited for me to pick up the survivor and walk away before running to the hook that was like 12 meters from me right after I downed someone, especially when Im a Bubba.
4 -
That's cuz u got a thick skin. Most ppl get offended, annoyed, angry, and it just bothers them. They rather cry out to a higher entity to ban ppl.
0 -
My skin isn't that thick. I hate bad sportsmanship because I think it damages the community and my ability to play a game I like. I always report people who go over the line whether I'm personally offended by it or not. I'm just saying I don't care if people "know" I let them win or not. I'd always know. :)
6 -
Thank you!! Didnt even know this existed
2 -
It's stupid when "died to reverse bear trap and didn't get angry" is worth a +rep on your profile. This community is garbage.
6 -
How did they get down that quick against a bubba?
0 -
You saying it okay to make death threat against a person? If people take this game that seriously they should revaluated their life. There literally people dying from covid but nah let use it when we get upset over a game. Next.
1 -
Because ######### who ruin it for others deserve to get banned....?
We have a right to get angry when it happens
5 -
Indeed. Even purely from a business standpoint, it makes more sense to ban the ######### than it does to tell people to "get a thicker skin". ######### push existing customers away and prevent new ones from enjoying your product. After all, what is one of the main complaints from veterans and newcomers alike who leave the game? The #########. So, ban them, make the game better for everyone, and watch it grow.
4 -
Couldn't have said it better

DBD definitely has the most salty, poor tempered community of any game I've ever played in over 30 years. Which I really don't get. I have loads of fun with the game, don't give a flying f about ranks, and just find myself pitying those who rage at the end because they lost. People who rage only show the world their own immaturity and insecurity. It's a f'ing game people. You know, the thing we do to have fun?
4 -
I'm going to add something to this - IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW THE GAME WAS PLAYED, HOW THICK SOMEONE'S SKIN IS/ISN'T - THERE'S NEVER ANY EXCUSE TO BE RACIST/HOMOPHOBIC/MAKE DEATH THREATS.
Anything else other than that statement is completely irrelevant. Just because you don't like how a match was played, does not give anyone the right or the reason to say such things in the after game chat or on someone's profile.
10 -
That requires a thick skin even if u think ur skin is thin.
0 -
Unless ppl are hacking, nobody really deserves to get banned. Just block the player so u don't have to meet that person again.
As far as ur anger goes, go play a game called flower. Look it up.
0 -
... as if banning one person will magically vanquish toxicity, no..
2 -
There is no way to avoid meeting the same player, and people who push other players away definitely deserve to be banned so the game can be better for everyone.
3 -
My point exactly.
0 -
But it will help to reduce overall toxicity, and by a lot.
A solution doesn't have to be "all or nothing", as long as it doesn't create a bigger problem than the one it's trying to fix.
3 -
Just block the player. So u can't read anything toxic they post.
Game will never be better for everyone. It may be better for u if we just ban everyone u deem bannable.
0 -
What toxicity? In terms of what? Toxic is just a loose term usually used by entitled survivors.
0 -
It will be better for everyone if the people who spew racist, etc., stuff get banned for violating the game's rules. Allowing people to break the rules they agreed to follow without consequences is a bad idea.
4 -
I give up with you
4 -
Rules made by whom?
0 -
Becuz u got owned by 1 of my previous comment and decided to hop on a conversation I'm having w someone else.
0 -
The devs.
3 -
Than there's no complaint to be made. If devs made rules, and it's violated, and they ban ppl they deem bannable, than that's the end of the conversation.
