Hillbilly C tier according to otz new vid !
Like many players have said hillbilly is not fun to play and a shadow of his former self. It’s unfair towards all hillbilly players because according to the devs he was the most balanced killer,but they nerfed him to the ground and made him unplayable due to his power limitations/bugged animations/useless addons. Otz explains everything in this video,he is a high skill low reward killer and his addons are inexistant. Devs should fix their biggest mistake and rework his addons and buff him.

it honestly is though. Hillbillys overheat is so punishing. His addons are mostly hot garbage. And theres just other better options for what hes good at.

I agree with him sorta, C-tier is kind of a stretch so I'd put him at the lowest of B-tier.
His power used to be awesome, but now it's so damn stressful to play around with to the point you'll probably have a mental breakdown while overheating.

And Billy was called "the most balanced Killer" for at least two years. But if Killer gets easier and easier over time, something which was called "the most balanced Killer" in 2018 cannot be "the most balanced Killer" in 2021.
His Nerf was justified. I also would disagree with Billy being that low on the Tier List, he is still a force when used by someone who is decent with him. Probably not against really strong Survivors, but then again, this goes for almost every Killer.

Otz still has clown in D tier, and ghostface in C tier. Even though ghostface is literal trash tier. Clown is literally at B tier, because clown can do some absolutely nutty stuff a lot of the times. I love otz's content, but his view on some of the killers is just so off from an actual fact that I can't take it serious.

I definitely agree, but OP framed this as if Hillbilly is bad just because Otz said so. Just annoys me a bit when people treat what a streamer says as undeniable truth.

I don’t understand this he literally is not bad I play hillbilly and I don’t know if I’m crazy but I never overheated and I use engravings and I do curves and I never overheated once people just overuse the chainsaw to much

Changing his chainsaw was one thing.
Absolutely destroying his add ons is another.
An add on that only works if a flashlight is shining on you. Hard to believe they even play their own game sometimes.

YES, the POV is really, really annoying. I am playing a lot of Billy lately, but I still hate his POV and animations, I just hate them. And I dont really want to use Shadowborn, I am fine with the build I have and I dont want to get used to Shadowborn too much.
What they could change tho are the Engravings, maybe let them also provide less Overheat to compensate for the extra Overheat due to the longer Chargetime.

I hate to admit it but Billy was not balanced anymore yes I admit he was a great killer and fun to verse but his addons were ridiculous and when Oni came out the devs realized he was outdated cause Michael has to build up his power Oni had to collect his power and blight has to wait for his rush tokens to come back. But with Billy he has all of that from the start no cooldown no power buildup he gets that ######### straight from the start. Imagine if Oni started the game with blood fury activated and it was forever

I never cared about Add Ons to be honest. I used Hillbilly without Add Ons since forever, and I am not starting to use Add Ons now. I tried Engravings and the brown Overheat Add-On, but the extra Chargetime messes me up all the time, but other than that, I dont use Add Ons. So I did not notice the Add On-Nerf at all.
The thing is tho, Charge Time and Cooldown-Add Ons were pretty problematic on Billy, and they had to find an replacement. He has quite an easy power, there is not much they can give him without making the Add Ons too good. Which results in a lot of "fun" Add Ons.

Yes but replacing a green charge time addon with one that increases rate of cooling when flashlighted? Really? Also the undetectable ones aren't even that great against a semi decent team. They could have made a lot better decisions lol. Some others are fine (the engravings are dead though)

Thing is, what do you want to give him?
He already has Turning and Speed Add Ons for his Chainsaw, he has a range of Cooling Add Ons/Overheat Add Ons. If you dont want to give him Chargetime or Cooldown, there is not much left to give.

They said when they nerfed him they were happy with how he performed. Then gutted him for no reason. Everyone agreed his addons needed changed, but his basekit was fine.

Saying that they were happy how he performed does not mean that he should stay the same. This was ONE sentence out of their Dev Update and everyone really only used that one sentence for their "arguments". He had (and still has) one of the best of not THE best Map Mobility in the game and an (somewhat, with practice) easy to use Instadown. He just became more punishing, because his BS-Add Ons got removed and the Overheat was added.
But its not like he was gutted. (Even tho I know that Killers like to use this term for every slight Nerf which happens to the Killer Side)

Are you implying Billy was fine, but only some of his add-ons were unbalanced? If so, then I completely agree. The Overheat mechanic is still braindead tho.

Tbh billy right now is not that great, he's not bad by any means and C tier is a bit of a over exaggeration but I can understand where he's coming from.
Billy, just like myers, without any addons with new overheat get severly overshadowed by newer killers like Oni or Blight. They just do things he does significantly better.
Imo they should make overheat into a risk mechanic insted of a punishment. The higher it gets (50%, then at 75%) you start to get bonuses like increased chainsaw speed, charge etc or all together. That way you on purpose increase your overheat to get a chance at crazy plays with better stats and if survivors manages to outplay you, you fully overheat and go on massive cooldown.
That would make overheat actually fun mechanic for both sides insted of unnecessary annoyance.

I think the main reason Billy got pushed to C tier is that Otz is trying to keep a balance with tiers. Basically not overloading A Tier or B Tier with too many killers.
Because honestly most killers are viable against average survivors and none are really that bad by any means. The D tier killers (except Clown) have major flaws with their power that need a major look at. RNG for Pig/Trapper, Trickster's laceration mechanic, Myers limited EW and mess of addons. Pig also has a mess of addons. Clown I don't think is truly D tier material and could certainly have made C tier.

So turning the over heat mechanic into an overclocked mechanic?
If so then I'd hope they would make it remotely worth while given how reluctant they are to actually buff him or his add-ons(Like changing his worthless perk addons into things like extra speed while overclocked) It'll be a cold day in hell before that happens.

Honestly the only reason I think billy is still top tier is because of lopro and engravings, without it he's pretty bad.
Now he has less mobility and a slightly weaker chase, and he still takes an incredible amount of skill which for how mediocre he is isn't a good thing.

Billy has issues, but C tier is just spectacularly underselling him. He still has good mobility, an instadown power and the ability to rapidly slug. Generally Otz is fairly on point and I'd accept that Bubba does a better job, but a good player with Billy who has mastered flicking / mindgaming with the saw would put him solidly in B tier. Certainly better than Doctor at the very least.

Losing killers who can compete against strong survivors is bad for the game. The nerf was not justified.

Billy isn't weak enough to be c-tier, just feels janky and unpleasant to play whereas oni, bubba and blight don't, so there's not much reason to play him unless you have a daily or an archive challenge

All billy players and the majority of non billy players agree with otz,including myself of course. Huntress isn’t gutted after her rework and its the same with all the other killers,but billy was the black sheep. It’s unfair how much they destroyed him

I agree. I can maybe count on one hand the times I overheat when not running engravings. The overheat angle is a little overplayed in the community, despite being a questionable change. But I never ran instasaw or crackbilly back in the days. So, I wasn't as affected by the nerfs.
Except his camera. That's absolutely atrocious.
But putting him below Plague is preposterous. I understand Otz had some success in Hexy's tournament when playing off-meta killers and this might sway his judgement.

IMO the bigger problem are his animations and the POV changes. I stopped playing Billy entirely when it was completely bugged, because it was really disgusting to play as him. It is not disgusting anymore, but it feels weird, I cannot really describe it, but if you played a lot of Billy before they changed (or messed up, would be better) his animations/POV, it just feels really different and weird.
Like, you dont really feel the Overheat and as long as you did not rely on Add Ons too much before, you also dont notice the Add On-Nerf.

Yeah i understood and i agree, i was a billy main but he got too nerfed so i moved to bubba.
The thing i meant is that people have no personal opinion anymore, they will repeat what streamers always say, without needing to test if thats true or not.
I hate people that for example... says lithe is a good perk agaisnt nurse (which is true), but only because scott, otz, truetalent or any other streamer said it... And this guy probably bought the game yesterday.

Don't fall into the idolatry trap. Even Otz himself says take things with a grain of salt.
The overheat mechanic does practically nothing to a good Billy. It regulates how often you can use your chainsaw, but if you're half decent, you won't be spamming it 24/7. Newer players are going to feel the sting, while skilled Billies have adapted and done just fine.

Most skilled billies have moved to other strong killers or stopped playing. You feel the overheat 100%,and the ones thats says otherwise are lying.

Yeah idk what they thought "reworking billy" the over heat mechanic is just dumb. His add ons are never useful maybe just turnings if that. But seriously shining a flash light gives you bonus speed? What garbage add ons lol. All people wanted was nerf his insta saw but instead they went over board just like with almost every "rework". They also need to get rid of his screaming like why? Whats the point its just annoying to keep hearing it.
