LGBTQ survivor/killer when?
Comments

No. People only speculated she might be trans because of the colors used in the Twitter marketing Build-up.
actually, nothing about Yun’s sexual orientation or identity is known other than she is being referred to as she/her. I think.

Evil people will use anything to excuse their evilness.
I'm not super experienced in the world yet, but I think I've figured that much out from my study of history.

Oh also one thing I forgot.
If a culture exists to explicitly exclude specific types of people for nothing more than a biological trait they cannot control, then this culture is inherently flawed. Even if it's what they believe if right, its still flawed. To use your example of the Nazis (bit extreme but I'll roll), they believed they were right but nobody else would say they were from an objective perspective.
It's like you're asking me to respect the Nazis as it was just part of their culture which, no thank you, I'm good.
Unless I completely missed the mark in which case do correct me, please.

She's not confirmed lgbtq+. Not gay, bi, pan, trans, etc. We don't know what she is.
2 -
It doesn't help that LeaksByDaylight queerbaited the community with their made-up """leaks"""
6 -
*everybody debating whether an LGBT character should come into the game*
Me looking at the current roster:
6 -
Yes, in her story we do not know anything about her sexual orientation. But devs can add one LGBTQ survivor or killer.
This survivor will die like others. And killer will murder like others. So there is not problem.
3 -
It just wont go down well, It will just seem like a token character. "The flaming homo" which is not the representation thats needed. (Imo) I want a gay character that isnt just the GBF, sipping tea and shouting sis 😒
Id feel like a joke and not a serious attempt at making an interesting lgbt representitive.
Its different from real life individuals being comfortable and expressive of their personality.

If this is real, then I’m simply, very happy.
2 -
Oh yeah. That one. They have made several “leaks“ that turned out to be false..
exactly this. I don’t get why there needs to be discussions about this topics when it’s in essence so simple!
4 -
Shes a queen, duh, isnt that the Q in LGBTQ+? 👑💅💅💅
2 -
We already got non-stereotyping and non-token LGBTQ+ representation confirmed in Look-See, Birch and Mordeo by CryptTV.
granted those are licensed and legendary chars but the devs have stated before they don’t differentiate between licensed and original characters. They are all characters for them.
4 -
I-
yeah, actually, that's valid
3 -
You did miss the mark but this conversation has divulged into something totally different so I'll just end it here.
0 -
I cant tell what your point is here? Because that seems very off base on what I was talking about.
1 -
Aight, have a good day :)
4 -
I gotchu
2 -
You said inclusion of LGBTQ+ wouldn’t go down well and will result in a token character…
and I pointed out that we already have confirmed chars coming that are not token or stereotyped chars.
1 -
Nah not asked someone out, got asked out. There's a massive difference and it makes it 50x more exciting (for me anyway) :D

I don't think the survivors sexuality really matters, personally. I don't care if we get an LGBT survivor as long as the backstory is good and their design is cool. I'm a live and let live guy.
But I can understand why its wanted. It's nice to be represented and I've noticed games like F13 and DBd tend to have an unusually high % of LGBT players in their communities. You'll get people that complain and call it pandering regardless, unfortunately. Or even worse "political" because apparently not being straight is political... somehow...
ALso, speaking as a comfortably straight dude, isn't it funny how people will kick up a fuss at the idea of a gay character or any lgbt "romance" but are fine with Nurse's backstory of being happily married. Never saw anyone complain about that or call it forced or "not fitting in the game".
7 -
Oooo, see now that does change things.
Not that I've ever been asked out or asked anyone out XD
2 -
Okay so not to sound gay but I love you, uh-
(no romo)
5 -
No time like the present
2 -
But I don't like anyoneeeeeee
2 -
Yet.
Unless you're ace/aro in which case I take that back
3 -
i am in fear of getting banned because of my words, soo... well. @justzed32 telegram
and i thought i cant post

Thats not what I said, if you go back through the replies.
It was in reference to them just putting in a flamboyant gay and calling it a day. Making a stereotype lbtq character is just making tokenism as thats how we are often portrayed online and in media, as the GBF, the flamboyant homo.
The tokenism/sterotypes is what I said would not go down well, not the the inclusion of a queer character.

Wait.. someone that genuinely doesn’t care?
are you a fictional person?
6 -
Go for it (in 150 seconds when your jail timer is over).
Just know that if you get banned, it'll be for a good reason. Homophobia, nor any kind of discrimination, is tolerated on these forums and the mods are incredibly strict about that.
If not feel free to find me on Twitter or something, I've argued with enough bigots on there already this week so what's one more?
4 -
let me clarify, care about what exactly?
0 -
Most people don't know what its like. They really, really don't. There's a difference between not being invited to the table, and being actively persecuted.
5 -
Don't get me wrong, when I was an edgy teenager I would have been one of these people that gets heated over it "STOP GETTING POLITICAL IN MY GAMES REEE WAIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN FALLOUT IS POLITCAL GTFO SJW". I was young and angry/depressed then and I'm pretty ashamed, spent my formative years on places like /v/ on 4chan and it warped my brain a little.
I'm 24 now, I live in the real world and meet real people. I grew up, met actual lgbt people (two of my closest friends are gay dudes and I also work with a gay woman) and they're just normal chill people.
It's also just not worth getting angry over. "Oh no, devs added an trans pride flag/gay character into my game". Like, say that out loud and think about what you're wasting you're limited minutes on this earth getting angry about.
Just let people live their lives and enjoy the things they like, if they aren't hurting anyone what's the problem?
If you're angry about the concept of a gay character, stop and ask yourself WHY you're angry about it. We already have some confirmed straight characters like Felix and Nurse anyway, so not wanting romance backstories and such isn't the reason.

Don’t be shy. Share some more.

There's one more thing I actually remembered, that being the issue of censorship in certain countries where homosexuality/queerness is actually banned. Prime examples would be Russia, China and any muslim country out there. This type of censorship has already affected other characters from different games such as Tracer from Overwatch and Varus from League of Legends who had their lore either altered or certain parts of it simply omitted.
I think it's very likely that BHVR would do the same thing if they ever released a character that causes controversies like this in other countries.
1 -
But we already get non stereotypical representation.
having a character that happens to also have some kind of stereotypical trait wouldn’t be that bad when you have multiple different representations. After all, there are gay people that are flamboyant. And there is nothing wrong with that.
i think the Movie „Love, Simon“ did it pretty well. They had 3 gay characters, one of them being super ‚effeminate‘. But it was obvious that the main char wasn’t flamboyant or anything. They played pretty well with these topics imo.
2 -
They don’t care if LGBTQ+ chars are added into the game or not. Which is perfectly understandable and okay. If you don’t care you don’t care after all.
but if you say you don’t care and then say you don’t want inclusion then that is a contradiction. Which happens in these discussions way too often

Look-See is kinda hot ngl 😍
Just watched his first season last night
3 -
I'm not sure where this rumor started....but I've read both the Nurse and the Wraiths lore through and not only are they not even from the same country....they aren't even from the same time period. Neither one of their lores including tomes even mentions any of this. Gonna go out on a limb....but....ITT this might be a fanfic rumor.
0 -
That’s the only valid argument against inclusion at this point. And i think this is one of the prime reasons why it’s taking so long, because it’s a very sensitive topic. (Oh and finally something on-topic instead of unnecessary discussions lol)
4 -
Official Look-See lore:
4 -
Who did we get as hetero tho Only felix david nurse wraith and legion (frank & julie) were confirmed to be hetero the others we dont know But one of these characters could be bi/pan
0 -
They have both a cosmetic set which descriptions imply some kind of relationship. Probably in the Entity’s world and not from their lives before.
that and I think one of those cheesy valentine day cards they post on Twitter had something about this ‚relationship‘
i don’t think it’s really canon though.
4 -
Wraith didn't have a wife...
He was a kid that his family died and when he grew up he moved to america and worked in autohaven He didn't really have a love interest It doesn't mention him being with someone other than nurse
0 -
This never happened either.....where the hell are you guys getting these bullshit fanfics?
2 -
There was a cosmetic collection based on Phantom of the Opera that set them up as some sort of weird killer couple. But afaik it was just going off of the popularity of the two in fan art.
The devs have said that killers never interact/meet eachother outside of trials, they're confined to their own realms so I don't think its canon.

I think it is sad, that it is a controversial topic, considering what you said about having a conversation with someone who is not straight but also considering the scientific consens on it. But I guess it's not surprising that people who won't believe other people about their own feeling won't believe scientists either.
Regarding your gta example: I think it matters what type of game you are talking about, I think it's fair to ask for diverse option in a game like dead by daylight which has many different characters or a roleplay game like skyrim which lets you design your own. In a story driven game which does not have this many options because you mainly follow one or two characters it's a different story, obviously you can't repesent everyone in this case. I'm a woman and usually I prefer to play female characters, but I wouldn't complain if I play a story driven game with a male characters because I understand they made this choice for story reason. But if the gender is not that important for the gameplay/Story, I like to have the option to chose. (Which I usually have, don't get me wrong, I just used it as example.) So what I'm trying to say is, I understand where you are coming from but it depents on the situation imo.
I don't think we are going to agree on the second part of your comment though. First of, I think cultural differences might play a role here, from the things you mentioned I'm assuming you are from the US. I'm not and there are some significant cultural differences between our countries, from my understanding the US has strong focus on individual freedom. You mentioned freedom of speach, which has limitations in my country. You can get sued for insulting someone (it's not that easy though, not everything counts as an insult there are specific conditions) and you can get sued for incitement of the people. From my understanding it's a lot harder to sue someone for insults in the US due to the first amendment, please correct me, if I'm wrong.
What I'm trying to say is, of course someone should have the right to say their opinion but shouldn't other people also have the right to live their life without being targeted for the way the were born? At this point definitions of freedom collide, it's also related to paradoxon of tolerance.
What I'm trying to say is: Your friend believes people should be tortured for their sexuality, for the way they were born and I think that is an unacceptale opinion.
But, as you will probably mention, forbidding an opinion does not stop people from having it which brings me back to represenation: As far as I know exposure and contact can reduce prejudice, it probably won't sway people like your friend but maybe more representation can lead to a greater acceptance in the population in general.

Dunno where the "super homophobic type" bit came from, but he did indeed have a GF, it's in his lore.
3 -
David had a girlfriend (read his lore, it’s really only mentioned in one sentence though)
Him being a ‚homophobic type‘ is just stereotypical because he is someone who get drunk at a bar and fights others without any reason. Nothing officially stated that he is homophobic. Just.. it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he was homophobic (and it wouldn’t surprise me if he actually fought homophobic people because he is LGBTQ+ friendly). We simply don’t know.
3 -
The girlfriend did happen.
The homophobic bit... Let's just say that a bit of the fandom for some reason see him as an r-word-ist and absolutely hate him, and AO3 absolutely loves that.
For some ungodly, unknown, disgusting reason.
But yeah NotTheBasement (on Tumblr) got it confirmed by a dev that David is, in fact, not an r-word-ist.
