Fake reports

Hi,

I was just on a discord server where people said that if a killer tunneled them or slugged them, they would send reports blaming the killer for racism, or harrassment and that they even received emails saying the reported player had committed a violation and would be "punished". Is that even true?

It worries me that fake reports can lead to the punishment of a player simply because people don't like their playstyle. Can we get a confirmation that this is not true? I have not played in a while but I remember that back in the day reports needed real proof, such as videos or screenshots and not just a random report by an entitled kid.

Nah they can't ban people without actual evidence.

If you write some homophobic or racist messages at end game chat, sure. You will be banned. But just because you slugged and tunnelled some people with LGBT+ flags, nah you won't be banned. Because nobody can know if you actually did that because of you are terrible person or you were simply trying to win the game.

I'm pretty sure that Behaviour have access to the endgame chat logs, so if the people report someone for being racist but the chat doesn't reflex that, then I don't think you can be banned.

If they banned everyone who got reported with no evidence then they'd probably have no players left. I wouldn't stress over it.

Sounds pretty easy to spot as fake, considering for chat offenses you don't even need to supply any sort of additional evidence. This implies they have the logs available, gonna be pretty obvious the "racist player" didn't actually say anything racist within like 10 seconds of opening the report.

You should take some precautions. We all know how much selfish verbal abuse has been perpetrated.

I believe as long as the people around you and the BHVR are good, you will be fine.

Honestly, I am not sure. I've been accused of wallhacking once, because the survivor stayed inside a locker for so long that they already had three crows, but for some reason they thought I would be unable to find them.

I do wonder if they actually reported me for that.

Thanks everyone and @Mandy for the feedback. That's exactly what I remembered but these guys were just bragging about how they got people banned and I was like "wth, I need to confirm this is not true".

Does this mean that players on console should avoid using the report system outside of "Giving Props"?

Console players can still make reports, and your platform may also be constantly recording your gameplay up to an hour I believe if you have it enabled (the PS5 does this). So if you have a questionable match, you should have the recording available straight after (Save Recent Gameplay) to edit and upload to YT or wherever, then you can share that link with BHVR when you send them a ticket through their site. Plus when making a ticket it will also ask you if you made a report in-game, likely so it's easier to match the report with the ticket info you sent.

Don't worry. Too many times i called homophobic and reported just because i tunnelled the guy out and i guess they had LGBT+ flags on them. I did not even notice, i was just getting my sweat win.
