Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Better filters for characters (and such)

The filters for sorting through stuff in menus was a nice addition. And it just gets more helpful with more and more content added. However, its not actually that helpful and could be much better with a few additions.

Drop Down Filter List

Below is a quick little example I did. If we had a bunch of new filters be added it would be more annoying than anything to actually chose the one you want for the menu tab. But if it was re-worked into a drop down style list instead of an alternating button, it would be much easier to sort through. It would also be cool if when having a menu like this open and using a controller, pressing the up/down buttons on your d-pad would move your cursor to the middle of the next/previous one.

I've also added a "Licensed" checkbox, and moved the filter (?) icon from the button to the side (could be used to quickly set to default/reset any filters). The ascending/descending toggle button remains unchanged. It should still be there to toggle the order of the selected filter.

Character Sorting Lists

Here's what I think the sorting list should be include/look like (from what's useful to me as a player):

  • Default (unchanged)
  • Price (by iri shards, then auric cells, and inverted for the ascending/descending filter option, killers that are not obtainable like The Cenobite should remain at the bottom)
  • Owned (date-of purchase)
  • Release (patch/date-of)
  • Level (total bloodpoints spent)
  • Prestige (not accounting for bloodpoints like above, would sort by prestige then by default for similar prestige levels)
  • Name (alphabetical)
  • Difficulty (easy > very hard, very hard > easy)

In the future it would also be really cool if we could filter by sacrifices or other stats with our killers. Or other stats like height/terror radius/speeds/etc. But all the above (besides difficulty of course) works for killers and survivor characters. The drop down style list also helps with other areas that use sorting, like changing your cosmetics. It would also help establish a nice groundwork for making more use-friendly and "fluid" (if that makes sense) UI for us players.
