Bring back the Dbd Alpha Map Lighting / Gamma Setting Potential Problems
I feel like since Dead By Daylight is now so mainstream and competitive that the game has lost a part of its horror community. Me and a lot of us horror junkies wanna get scared in this game, but the problem is the majority of the Dbd Community does not want it which I personally think is a huge problem for a game that wants to be apart of the horror genre. Now I understand that it's not a typical horror game where that fear factor and that on-edge feeling is maxed out, but I feel like there should be some of that to a moderate degree.
Now I'm not gonna go crazy deep into like mechanics, killers, survivors, perks, etc. but the biggest change I wanna see and what I feel like is a problem in this game is the lighting for maps (Just fyi I'm NOT saying lighting needs to change for all maps). Allow me to give you some examples:
Forsaken Boneyard ~ WAY to bright in my opinion, good luck scaring anyone on this map
Coldwind Farm ~ Personally feel like it could be a bit darker
Springwood ~ Yes it's "dark", but like it's a bright night
I don't know, I feel like a lot of maps are just too bright I mean like look at The MacMillan Estate back when Dbd was in it's Alpha vs now:
Alpha
Now
Like it's a complete night and day difference! Now before anyone decides to get on my case and say "Oh but the Alpha is too dark", I'm going to tell you I agree. But I do believe that we need darker maps than what we currently have, they might as well not even say that it's in the middle of the night on some maps it's so bright. Now I feel like this issue is gonna get even worse now that Dbd is letting us adjust our gamma, like forget hiding anymore or trying to darken your game to get a scarier feeling. Killers are just gonna jack that crap up so they can see in every single shadow. You'll think you're hiding but little do you know he has maxed gamma… All in all I think lighting is a HUGE problem in this game but unfortunately this game is becoming so competitive and mainstream, no one cares anymore about where the game started. Anyways that's my take & suggestion

What also doesn't help is the lack of fog everywhere.
In the old builds of the game, the fog was thick and actually blocked your vision.
Now? A few puffs of black smoke and that's it.

Old MacMillan Estate <3
I started with the SAW chapter, so this lighting brings back a lot of memories for me.
I think the dark atmosphere of that time is lacking in current DbD.4 -
Omg I completely agree, the fog in this game is absolutely garbage now. Tbh Idky they even have offerings that affect the fog because hardly anyone uses them. Killers stopped using them cause survivors used to just spam the less fog offering and now survivors have stopped using them because killers stopped using them. Plus there are better offerings lol
