Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Dead Space: Necromorph Killer Concept

The Necromorph is an unstoppable abomination, a twisted monstrosity of reanimated human flesh driven only by death and instinct.

Plasma Cutter Mechanic:

  • A few special chests spawn across the map. Two chests contain a Plasma Cutter with three rounds of ammunition. The other chests contain additional ammunition.
  • Each additional chest holds 1–2 shots maximum with long regeneration timers (90–120 seconds).
  • The survivor holding the Plasma Cutter has their aura revealed to all survivors, allowing others to:
    • Bring them ammunition.
    • Seek protection.
  • If the Plasma Cutter is dropped, its aura is revealed to all survivors until it’s picked up.
  • When a survivor holding a plasma cutter is downed, their plasma cutter is destroyed and a new one can be retrieved by searching any of the chests for a replacement.

Combat with the Killer:

  • Survivors can amputate the killer's limbs by shooting with the Plasma Cutter. Amputating a limb requires 2 successful shots to a limb. Shooting the torso has no effect at all. Each Necromorph type may be hindered differently and have different weak points, but here are some suggestions:
    • Special appendage shot: Disables the Necromorph's current special ability.
    • Arm shot: Temporarily disables the killer’s lunge attack.
    • Head shot: Temporarily blinds the killer, similar to a flashlight blind. However, the Necromorph becomes invulnerable to flashlight blinds until they regenerate their head.
    • Successfully dismembering a limb stuns the killer very briefly. Perhaps only 0.5 seconds at most.

Killer Power: Necromorph Shapeshift

  • The killer can morph into various Necromorph forms, each with unique strengths and one special ability.
  • Transforming plays an animation that locks the killer in place briefly, but invulnerable to plasma cutter attacks.
  • Transforming regenerates all lost limbs.
  • Transformation takes longer depending on how many limbs were lost.
  • After the Necromorph shapeshifts his limbs gain invulnerability from damage for 15 seconds. There is a visual indicator.
  • Transformation has a cooldown to prevent excessive limb regeneration. I recommend a minimum 45–60 second cooldown after transforming.

AI Necromorphs:

  • 30 seconds after the trial begins an additional Necromorph will spawn.
  • 15 seconds after the first generator is completed an additional Necromorph will spawn.
  • 15 seconds after the third generator is completed an additional Necromorph will spawn.
  • No more than 3 AI Necromorphs will spawn in a match.
  • Unlike the Killer, AI Necromorphs cannot regenerate limbs if dismembered by the Plasma Cutter and do not possess a special ability.
  • AI Necromorphs have slower movement speed compared to the Killer and are a different color shade.
  • The AI Necromorph may not pick up or kill survivors, only injure or down them.
  • The killer can force an AI Necromorph to regenerate by hitting them with a basic attack, triggering an involuntary morph into a random Necromorph.
  • The killer can see the aura of any injured survivor Necromorph.

Survivor Necromorphs:

  • When a survivor dies, they may take control of an AI Necromorph:
    • A prompt appears asking if they would like to play as a Necromorph, they may confirm or deny to leave the match.
    • They can opt out at any time by pressing a key to let the AI take over.
    • They cannot block or collide with the killer.
    • Survivors who are transformed into a Necromorph and successfully injure or down a survivor receive a large amount of blood points.
    • The killer may remove control away from all survivor Necromorphs at any time by pressing an alternate button. Doing so will cause the AI to take over and send the survivors to the end of match screen.

Let me know what you think!
What kind of perks do you think would fit? Addons?

Ahahahahaha, while I don't think it'd work with the existing DBD formula... I actually love the idea of becoming a mini killer and going after survivors fter you die...

There would be a few times I would absolutely go hard on my former teammates... such as when I get unhooked 10 seconds after being hooked with the killer literally still sniffing my hair, or when survivors bring the killer to my safe gen off in Narnia when I'm the only player on death hook, or anyone runs to me plot twisting and draws a nice line of scratch marks for the killer to find me...

Sandbagging Thirst Sables days are numbered 😈😈😈😈

Yes I was thinking it would be very fun(ny) to kill your former team mates!
