Killer - the Dancer
Killer Data
The Dancer is a graceful Killer, moving swiftly through the Trial in a flurry of blood and blades. Her personal perks let her slice through different Survivors like a ballerina moves across a stage.
Speed: 4.6 m/s
Terror Radius: 40 meters
Height: Average
Difficulty (how much one needs to know before playing the Killer at an entry-level): Very Hard
Weapon: The Dancer wields dual sabers. Her lunge sees her swing smoothly with the saber in her right hand, starting down and swinging up and across her body.
Sound Effects: The Dancer has light footsteps that get substantially louder while in a performance. She usually breathes quietly, but while in a performance her breaths are much heavier.
Power: Flash of Steel
Years of tireless, bloody practice and empowerment from a dark power fuel the Dancer to move and slice with unimaginable speed and grace.
Style is a resource the Dancer can cultivate through psyching herself up and through graceful moves that she knows like the back of her hand.
Performances are chains of moves the Dancer can take to traverse the Trial and injure Survivors.
- Simple Steps are moves the Dancer can do with minimal exhaustion or attention, costing minimal Style and being easy to use.
- Shows of Grace are much more involved moves the Dancer can make, requiring substantial precision and practice. These are much more complicated, with more exact roles in the Dancer's performance.
Style
The Dancer has a set amount of focus to expend on her performance.
At the start of the Trial, the Dancer starts with 25 Style. Some performances increase her Style and some expend it. She can have up to 100 Style.
- At different amounts of Style (25, 50, 75), the Dancer's movements change from a more frenzied rush to a strut.
- Hitting a Survivor with a Basic or Special Attack adds 10 Style.
- Being stunned, blinded, or missing a Basic or Special Attack removes 10 Style.
- If, during a performance, the Dancer has 0 Style, the performance immediately ends.
Performances
While in a performance, the Dancer cannot make any actions except for moves. Moves are the inputs described later on.
Before any performance, the Dancer is slowed to 1.8 m/s and has 0.5 seconds to make the input she desires. At the end of those 0.5 seconds, she will execute the corresponding move or return to normal speed (if no input is given) and end her performance.
- The same goes for when moves are chained in a performance, except the timer begins as soon as the prior move ended and the initial input (which determines whether the move is a Simple Step or a Show of Grace) must be made during the same time frame as the following inputs.
- These include a buffer; for the last 0.5 seconds of a move, the Dancer may begin inputting for her next move.
The following are attributes of a performance:
- For each move in a performance, the Dancer moves 0.1 m/s faster for the rest of the performance.
- Each move can only be made once in a performance. Inputting something that has already been executed will result in the performance ending.
- The performance also immediately ends if the Dancer attempts to perform a move she does not have sufficient Style for.
- If the Dancer inputs something unintended, hitting the Active Ability Button 3 times in addition to the given inputs will remove all previous inputs and give her an additional 0.35 seconds to make a new input.
- This reset can only be done once per move.
After a performance ends, the Dancer is slowed to 1.8 m/s for 2 seconds. She cannot make any actions during this time.
Simple Steps
Simple Steps are moves the Dancer can execute with Power Button inputs. After pressing the Power Button, the Dancer bends her knees and prepares for a lunge.
Attack Button
- Costs no Style.
- The Dancer takes a step forward at 4.6 m/s taking 0.3 seconds, before dashing at 6.9 m/s with a turning radius of 30 degrees per second for 1 second, thrusting a sword forward. Hitting a Survivor will damage them and prematurely end the dash.
- The next input is delayed by an additional 2 seconds.
Power Button
- Costs 10 Style.
- The Dancer moves at 6.9 m/s with a turning radius of 45 degrees per second for 5 seconds. This can be ended early by pressing the Attack Button twice.
Active Ability Button
- Grants 5 Style.
- The Dancer moves at 6.9 m/s with a turning radius of 0 degrees per second for 1 second.
Shows of Grace
Shows of Grace are moved the Dancer can execute with Active Ability Button inputs. After pressing the Active Ability Button, the Dancer stands up straight and holds her blades back behind her head.
Attack Button
- Costs 10 Style.
- The Dancer moves at 6.9 m/s with a turning radius of 180 degrees per second for 1 second.
Power Button
- Grants 5 Style.
- The Dancer twirls, moving at 4.6 m/s with a turning radius of 360 degrees per second for 0.5 seconds.
Active Ability Button
- Grants 50 Style.
- The Dancer slows to 1.8 m/s for 2.7 seconds and spins her blades, sliding them together and making a noise audible to all Survivors in the Trial.
Active Ability Button → Attack Button (in sequence)
- Costs 25 Style.
- The Dancer dashes at 9.2 m/s with a turning radius of 45 degrees per second for 1.5 seconds.
- By pressing the Attack Button twice, the Dancer can jump once during this dash, ending the dash and going over Windows, dropped Pallets, and short map elements. This costs an additional 25 Style.
- During the jump, which lasts 0.5 seconds, the Dancer is extremely maneuverable, able to land anywhere in a 4 meter radius from where the jump began. Once she lands from the jump, all Survivors within 2 meters of her are hit by her spinning blades.
- If this is done, the next input is delayed by 2 seconds.
Active Ability Button → Power Button
- Costs 25 Style.
- The Dancer dashes at 9.2 m/s with a turning radius of 0 degrees per second for 1 second.
- The Dancer will vault Windows and dropped Pallets during this dash, doing so in 0.45 seconds but prematurely ending the dash.
