Chapter Concept: Burden of Nobility

Greetings, I'm Jake, referred to as such by my online friends due to my love of the solitary survivor. I am a studying game designer and have worked very hard to create a fulfilling and compelling fantasy for the Dead by Daylight community. I've spent quite a while on/off designing this chapter and consider it to be one of my most dedicated side projects. This is a revision of my original concept posted back in 2020. In my perfect universe, I would love to see this chapter brought to life by BHVR (even if I'm only credited as an inspiration). I hope you enjoy my chapter concept and continue to enjoy the torment of the Fog as much as I do.

Chapter: Burden of Nobility

Killer: The Lady

Priscilla Bondeaux

Gender|Sex: Feminine|Female

Weapon: Fan

The very tip of the fan’s sides has decorative, metal spikes.

Realm: The Bondeaux Estate

Height: Tall

Movement: 110% (4.40 m/s) | Average ⇛ 110% (4.40 m/s)

Vault Speed: Normal (1.7 seconds)

Dev Note: Considering making her vault speed slower to compensate for her power.

Terror Radius: 32 meters | Normal

Terror Radius Sound: The Lady’s terror radius is unlike any other Killer’s terror radius. Instead of the traditional music and intense heartbeat, her terror radius is a tense, enforced stillness. A harsh absence. The sound of wind on a still night. The traditional heartbeat sound emerges when within 24 meters.


Power: Dark Bargain The Lady gains several talents and supernatural abilities thanks to her deal with the Entity. She entered the Fog willingly and enjoys benefits for her willing service in turn.

Dark Rites: The Lady can activate Dark Rites after a short preparation time. Pressing the ability button causes the Lady to chant for a moment before she sends a dark shroud forward, in a 5 meter range linear skill shot. This ability has 2 charges and regains one if a survivor is struck with it. This shadowy burst passes through terrain while marking all survivors in its line. Survivors struck by Dark Rites are plagued by an Omen for 15 seconds. Repeat strikes refresh the duration. While a survivor within her terror radius possesses an Omen, if Dark Rites passes through a vault location, a dropped pallet, or a barricade it calls to dark powers to make that object incorporeal; this enables the Lady to pass through the struck object as if it wasn’t there. Survivors must still interact with the object normally. This effect lasts for as long a survivor still possesses an Omen and remains within the Lady’s terror radius or until she hooks a survivor, whichever comes first.

When the Lady downs a survivor with an Omen or hooks a survivor she has previously struck by Dark Rites (even if the duration of the Omen has already expired), she collects an Omen. Once she has 5 Omens the ritual can begin.

With 5 Omens, the Lady gains the ability to enact the Ritual. Pressing the secondary ability button while the ritual is prepared causes the Lady to emit a burst that affects anything within her terror radius. This causes a global notification that the ritual has been performed. This burst causes all vault locations, dropped pallets, & barricades to become incorporeal for 30 seconds. The Lady becomes able to pass through these incorporeal locations as if they weren’t there until the duration expires. Survivors must still interact with them normally. Survivors that have an omen that are struck by the Ritual cause the Omen to lose its duration and only lose the Omen when leaving the Lady's terror radius.

Dev Notes: This ability is intended to give the Lady the ability to conquer repeat loops. Small, short loops give her an advantage as she can easily tag a survivor and the terrain with her ability to secure a basic attack. Further, if a survivor can keep their distance on her she has no immediate tools to catch up since her ability to ignore terrain is dependent on a survivor being nearby. This encourages survivors to play a tile once or twice before moving on. However, the nature of Omens means that staying close to her the entire time means they cannot revisit loops until they get away or are downed.

Animations

Idle: She silently fans herself, slowly looking around. At ease.

Walking: She fans herself at a metered pace, inline with every other step.

Chase: She stops fanning herself, closing the fan with a flicking gesture. The spikes at the edge of her closed fan ready to strike.

Basic Attack: She strikes with the closed fan, opening it again with a flourish as she shakes the blood off.

Generator Kick/Pallet Break: She makes an absent shoo gesture to the object in front of her with a gloved hand, shadowy omens surround the object and cause it to break.

Barricade Break: She raises a gloved hand slowly, as she snaps the barricade explodes.

Boon Snuff: She billows her fan a single time over the boon, causing the flames to die.

Vault: She closes her fan and taps it against her opposite hand impatiently. The vaulting location quickly burns away, allowing her to step through it. It rebuilds itself immediately after.

Pick up: The Lady claps twice. Shadowy tendrils lift the survivor up into the air for her*

Dev Notes: *This is a mix between Sadako’s and Pinhead’s pick up animation.

Power: A delicate, gloved hand raises at the ready, dark fog starting to seep from her fingertips. On release, she flicks her hand forwards in a simple motion.

Stunned: She dramatically recoils, her head jerking away. Her fan partially closing, almost falling from her hand. A dignified, offended scoff can be heard.

Memento Mori: She strikes the survivor with her closed fan causing them to stagger away from her. She follows this up with a backhand with her free hand and makes a dignified, dismissive gesture with the same gloved hand. Black spikes leap out of the ground, impaling the survivor. She steps up to them, tipping their face to one side with her fan. The spikes recede, dropping their body to the ground. She leans down and wipes the blood off both sides of her fan using the survivor’s body. She straightens up, unfurls her fan, and returns to her idle position.


Perks

Dark Machinations

Description: “They are all destined for greatness.  Prithee, allow me to help that along.”

The Lady’s expertise in the dark arts will not be out done. Her insidious plans will not be impeded by amateurs.

At the start of the trial, all totems become blocked by the Entity preventing them from being interacted with for 30/60/90 seconds. Whenever a hex totem is cleansed or a boon totem is activated, the Entity will block all other totems from being interacted with for 20/30/40 seconds. This does not block the Booned totem. Additionally, you are capable of seeing the aura of all totems at all times. The aura of totems that are not your hex totems will be shown in white.

Dev Notes: This perk is intended to prevent a killer’s hex from being destroyed the moment the trial starts. It continues to provide some protection to their hexes if survivors are interacting with totems frequently. But it can only provide this protection if the killer is running a build with multiple hexes or if survivors are also trying to light their own totems. Additional note, this perk would not prevent the killer from deactivating a boon.


Ambivalence

Description: “They think I do not know their plans. And that is why they are always a step behind.”

The Lady’s cunning is what has allowed her to remain in power for so long. She plays a careful game to thwart the plans of her rivals.

When snuffing a Boon, it instead is converted into a Curse. The Boon effect remains but injured survivors within its radius become broken. Healthy survivors within its radius become 3% hindered. This curse can only be reversed by the Boon being recast on the Curse. Moving the Boon, moves the Curse but does not remove it.

Dev Notes: This perk is intended to showcase the Lady’s expertise with sorcery and to give her an edge against those that use Boons. While this doesn’t reveal survivors to her within a boon’s radius, it makes the time she spends snuffing a Boon much more valuable.


Dominion

Description: “Be careful trying to thwart forces you do not comprehend. If it doesn’t end you, I will.”

The Lady has mastered the occult and its dark machinations. She will not stand by while others dabble in what is her art. She will not be outdone.

Whenever a survivor ignites a boon, their aura is revealed to you for 1/2/3 seconds. While any survivor is within the radius of a boon, they become oblivious.

Dev Notes: This perk is intended to assist the Lady in dealing with survivors that fancy themselves occultists. Her ability to sneak up on them attempting to use a boon enables her to easily apply pressure. 


Addons

Iridescent Brooch - Ultra Rare

Description: A beautiful, black gem that teems with foreboding energy placed in a sterling silver frame. The metal is shaped like intricate spider-legs and radiates the entity’s power.

Dark Rites no longer has two charges and instead creates a radial blast the size of the Lady’s terror radius. All dropped pallets, barricades, & vault locations struck by Dark Rites become incorporeal for 15 seconds. Once this effect ends, Dark Rites enters a 45 second cooldown.

Iridescent Fan-Guard - Ultra Rare

Description: A brace that attaches to the outside of a hand-held fan. It appears to be made of a glossy, glass-like material and radiates the Entity’s power.

Striking survivors inflicts them with an omen. If they already had an omen, the Lady collects it and a new one is applied.

Iridescent Earrings - Ultra Rare

Description: Earrings made of a foggy, glass-like material that radiate untold, twisted power.

Gain killer instincts on a survivor struck by Dark Rites for 4 seconds.

Parasol - Very Rare

Description: An afternoon parasol, perfect for any sunny outing. It’s tarnished and ragged from disuse.

When there are no longer survivors within the Lady’s terror radius that possess an omen, locations already made incorporeal by Dark Rites remain incorporeal for 5 additional seconds.

White Gloves - Very Rare

Description: A pair of pristine white gloves, necessary for any woman’s attire in a formal setting.

Increases the duration that an omen haunts a survivor by 15 seconds.

Formal Hennin - Very Rare

Description: A headdress worn exclusively by women of noble birth. Embroidered edges around a truncated cone, the lappets are vibrant and the veil pristine.

Dark Rites gains an additional charge.

Formal Veil - Very Rare

Description: An elegant, thin veil that slightly obscures the wearer’s face. A style of noble dress worn both over the face and the back of the head.

Increases the Dark Rites recovery rate by 30%.

Grey Gloves - Rare

Description: A pair of grey gloves that can accent most outfits. A good choice for when a lady doesn’t know what occasion may arise.

Increases the duration that an omen haunts a survivor by 10 seconds.

Silver Decorum - Rare

Description: A small, silver figurine that is able to rest in a lady’s hair or on her person. Purely for aesthetic and prestige purposes.

Dark Rites now causes the hemorrhaged status effect for 60 seconds.

Ancient Talisman - Rare

Description: A rare coin valuable to collectors of ancient lore. On one side holds the icon of a mysterious spider-like creature, the other bears the mark of an old, forgotten church.

Dark Rites now causes the exhausted status effect for 60 seconds.

Silver Vanity - Uncommon

Description: A small mirror that is easy to carry and store. Important for any noble woman that wants to ensure she looks her best everywhere she goes.

Dark Rites now recovers all charges whenever a survivor is struck rather than one.

Green Gloves - Uncommon

Description: A pair of green gloves used for select occasions, typically only reserved for when proper gloves are unavailable.

Increases the duration that an omen haunts a survivor by 8 seconds.

Ancient Texts - Uncommon

Description: Texts from a long forgotten church that worshiped an enigmatic creature. It demanded sacrifice and worship in trade for blessings and power.

Increases the range of Dark Rites by 40%.

Restored Scripture - Uncommon

Description: Ancient writings that have been restored, detailing modern and improved ways to commune with an unknown, undescribed entity.

Survivors that vault a pallet or vault location that is marked by Dark Rites become blinded for 60 seconds.

Ruffled Fabric - Common

Description: A noble outfit is nothing without ruffles.

Survivors that vault a pallet or vault location that is marked by Dark Rites have their aura revealed for 3 seconds.

Occult Pendant - Common

Description: A pendant with a peculiar spider-like symbol that shares meaning to others that share in dark knowledge.

When there are no longer survivors within the Lady’s terror radius that possess an omen, locations already made incorporeal by Dark Rites remain incorporeal for 2 additional seconds.

Rear Veil - Common

Description: A common noble garment to cover the back of the head. Slowly falling out of fashion.

Increases the range of Dark Rites by 20%.

Brown Gloves - Common

Description: A pair of brown gloves to cover one’s hands to ensure they don’t get dirty.

Increases the duration that an omen haunts a survivor by 5 seconds.

Survivor: The Heir Apparent

Jeremy Bondeaux

Boon: Acumen

Description: “I’m more than what she wanted from me.”

Jeremy was born and raised by Priscilla for the sole purpose of being sacrificed to the Entity in order to further her goals. But he has pushed on to be more than that.

Press and hold the active ability button near a dull or hex totem to bless it and create a boon totem. Soft chimes ring out within a 32 meter radius.

While within the boon’s radius, the recovery rate from the Blindness, Broken, Exhaustion, Exposed, Haemorrhaged, Hindered, & Oblivious status effects are increased by 5/7/10%. This has no effect on status effects with no duration and does not stack with Vigil.

Dev Notes: This perk is intended to grant survivors a safe zone to recover faster. Coupled with other boons such as Shadow Step or Circle of Healing, this can create a very safe space!


Affluent Patronage

Description: “It pays to help someone other than yourself.”

Jeremy was born to be a sacrifice but he intends to use that against someone that thinks he’ll be a helpless victim.

If you are put into the dying state and remain in the dying state for more than 45/30/20 seconds, the killer’s aura will be revealed to all survivors for as long as the killer is within 24 meters of you. This perk deactivates if you are picked up but reactivates if you are dropped without gaining a health state or being hooked.

Dev Notes: This perk punishes killers that choose to leave someone on the ground for an extended period of time by giving survivors the means to better coordinate rescues & saves.

Foreboding Influence

Description: “The things in the dark always leave a mark. But you can’t let them control you.”

When afflicted by the cursed status effect of a killer’s hex, you are able to hear the sound of a hex totem at an additional 10 meters. Your blessing speed of hex totems is increased by an additional 10/15/20%.

Dev Notes: This perk is intended to give the survivor an edge when they are afflicted by a hex. It enables them to free themselves of its influence easier but also encourages them to search for the totem rather than simply focus generators.
